The moon is full, wind fresh, flower scent on lovers.Seen from screen panes by an oil lamp, two figures.Whilst late at night, no beings e'er breathe a word,The sound of reading at West Tower still heard.Together, we shall go through storm and stress,With shared support, toward the same address.An innocent childhood we join to spend,And view each other as sole bosom friend.From morn to night, we stay from spring to spring,With Yingtai's gender being such secret thing.Until the lotus flowers appear above,I know not how painful to miss my love.A handsome gentle lad aye burns in passion,A graceful tender lass swells with affection.In front of flowers 'neath moon, we often meet,And, earth in hand, make solumn vows and sweet.Love is what Fair, not Heaven, doth possess.How many lovers could achieve success?Match-makers' words and parents' own commandHave broken up the lovebirds thus as planned.Thou askest land and sea what love should be.Forsake my life at will for sake of thee.This life, no chance to love till we get grey.Wait till next life and dwell on our old day.Whilst being alive, I can ne'er live with thee.Wilt thou go, on thy way to hell, with me?In form of coupled butterflies in flight,We'll love each other in eternal light.
