History
On May 23, 2011, Dong embroidery was approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China and included in the third batch of the national intangible cultural heritage list, with the heritage number VII-107.
The Dong ethnic group has a long history of weaving and embroidery, which can be traced back to the Baiyue era. Therefore, there is a record in the "Wu Yue Spring and Autumn Annals" of "Yue Luo Gu Sha". Zhuangzi's "Xiaoyao You" said that Baiyue has the custom of "cutting off hair and getting tattoos". Tattoos "originally involved tattooing patterns on the body, and after planting cotton and weaving clothes, they developed into embroidering patterns on clothing.

针法
Needle technique
Dong embroidery is a type of embroidery, and the masterpiece of Dong embroidery is undoubtedly the North Dong Pan Axis Rolling Edge Embroidery. This embroidery method is only spread among the northern Dong ethnic groups such as Pingqiu, Shiyin, and Huangmen in Jinping County. Pan-axis rolling edge embroidery is purely handmade, going through dozens of processes such as moulding, surface coating, fabric sticking, mould fitting, veneering, edging, and embroidery.
The basic embroidery method of "scroll embroidery" is composed of two embroidery methods: scroll embroidery and scroll embroidery.
A typical embroidery piece consists of three layers of "scroll embroidery" and one layer of "rolled edge embroidery", which are filled with coloured threads in the middle of the outline of the pattern using the same technique.
“Pan axis embroidery "takes a coloured silk thread as the" lead ", that is, the" axis "Takes two more coloured silk threads and tightly wraps them together to form a thicker two-in-one prefabricated embroidery thread, also known as "coiled thread". When embroidering, embroider and straighten the "lead" from the bottom surface of the pattern upwards. Wrap a "coiled wire" around the root of the "lead wire" and tighten it tightly. Repeat this process repeatedly to embroider the outline of the pattern, known as "disc axis embroidery".
Rolling edge embroidery "is to take a white yarn as a" lead ", then take two white yarns and tightly wrap them together. Then, the two-in-one white sand yarn is tightly wrapped around the" lead "to make it a thicker three-in-one embroidery thread. It is embroidered (rolled) around the outline of the pattern of" rolling edge embroidery ", which is called" rolling edge embroidery ".
