Activity One
Watch a video about China’s transportation changes in 40 years.
【设计意图:让学生了解交通方式发生了变化,同时让学生想一想我们身边还有哪些其他方面的变化,拓展学生思路,活跃学生思维,导入本课话题——时代的变化】
Activity Two
T: Millie is interested in great changes around us . So she’s doing a history project about changes. What changes does she want to write about? Who can she ask for help? Why?
( Tip: Look through the title, the heading, photos and the first paragraph to get the information.)

Read the interview quickly and divide it into 3 parts.Choose the main idea of each part.

2.Careful reading
Part 1 Changes in Mr Chen’s family.(Line 1-6)
Where did Mr Chen live at first? What about his later life?
Think: Do you think Mr Chen likes living here? Why?

Part 2 Changes in Mr Chen’s town.(Line7-16)
Line7-11
T:Mr Chen wrote something about his life in Sunshine Town on his blog.He thinks his life is becoming much easier and more comfortable now. Why? First, let’s read about the changes in its public facilities.Then we’ll have a better understanding of what Mr Chen said.
Read lines 7-11 and compare what they had in the past with what they have today.
Think :What kind of feeling does Mr Chen have while talking about these changes in his town? Shall we change “Yes!”into“Yes.”? Why?

Line 12-16
T:Mr Chen also mentions that life here is more comfortable. Why does he say so? Let’s talk about the environment there, compare the past with the present.
T:In order to improve the environment, what action did the government take? A reporter from Sunshine TV station had an interview with Mr Mayor. Here ’ s the dialogue. Work in pairs.
Discussion: Which is more important, protecting the environment or developing the economy?

Part 3 Mr Chen’s feelings about changes
Listen to the tape and tell Mr Chen’s feelings.
Conclusion:Mr Chen knows his hometown can’t always stay the same if they want to live a better life.
Activity Four
1.Group work
Say“Changes in my hometown”according to the mind map they draw.(Students work in a group of six.Everybody offers ideas.)
