本单元以“自己动手做(Do it yourself, DIY)”为主题,旨在通过一系列的教学活动,帮助学生掌握与DIY相关的词汇、短语和句型,提高他们的英语听说读写能力,并培养他们的动手能力和创造力。
初二上学期的学生已经经过了一年的英语学习,大多数学生已经掌握了一定的词汇量和基础语法知识。然而,由于学生的个体差异,他们在英语学习能力上仍然存在差异。而初二上学期的英语教学内容涵盖了更复杂的语法知识和更广泛的词汇,同时也增加了写作训练的难度。因此,教师需要注重培养学生的语言技能和思维能力,关注学生的学习态度和习惯,通过多样化的教学方法和激励手段来激发学生的学习兴趣和积极性。
1. Knowledge objective:
Students should be able to master the core vocabulary, phrases, and sentence structures related to DIY, such as "secret", "paint", "cut out", etc., and be able to use these language points correctly for expression.
2. Skill objective:
Through various methods such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, students are able to apply their learned knowledge to simple DIY story descriptions and communication.
3. Emotional goal:
To cultivate students' confidence and independence, make them aware of the fun and value of DIY, and advocate for a DIY lifestyle.
Activity One:Leading in
Teachers organize student groups to discuss and share their DIY experiences and answer four questions:
What did you make?
How did you make it?
Why did you choose it?
What tips did you have to tell others?
When your mother's birthday arrives, what do you decide to do if your mum's birthday is coming?
Step1:Students work in groups and answer each question.
设计意图:通过提出一系列问题,引出本节课学习的主题:“do it yourself”,再通过“你的妈妈即将过生日”的这一现象,来激发学生思考,考虑如何去做来为妈妈庆生,从而引出Suzy通过DIY生日贺卡的方式来给她妈妈过生日,激发学生阅读兴趣,为后面分析日记和学生自己写有关DIY的日记做铺垫。
Activity Two: Read Suzy’s diary about a DIY job
Suzy’s mother’s birthday is coming, Suzy decided to make a birthday card for her by herself. Let’s read her diary together and see how Suzy made the card.
Step1: Read the diary from Suzy and assign five paragraphs based on their main idea.
Step2: Read the diary again and learn some writing tips.
Step3: Organize student group discussions: Ask them how to write a diary entry about DIY?
Step4: Teacher introduces some useful expressions and summarize Suzy’s diary from four perspectives: What to make; how to make; problems and fun in DIY; feeling.
设计意图:第一次让学生通读全文,使其对本文内容有大概的认知,并尝试进行段落主旨和段落的匹配,让学生对文章的结构有一定的结构认识。第二次分段阅读,从文章各段中提取出一些写作小技巧,并通过小组合作的方式让学生从四个角度尝试总结Suzy日记的内容,提高学生合作学习的能力。
Activity Three: Write about your own diary about DIY
Now that we have learned how to write a DIY diary, please choose a DIY task of your own to write a diary.

设计意图:让学生大胆思考创新完成文章,写一篇有关自己DIY的日记,从而锻炼学生的写作能力,结合先前所学,在构建文章框架和写作上得到提升。
Activity Four:Homework
Complete the article, share it in groups, and make it better.
本次教学任务旨在通过“Do it yourself”的方式,激发学生的学习兴趣,培养他们的动手能力和英语实践能力。从课堂反馈来看,大部分学生能够积极参与到活动中来,通过动手制作和英语表达,有效提升了他们的英语应用能力。然而,也有部分学生在活动过程中存在困难,需要更多的指导和帮助。
在教学过程中,我采用了任务驱动法、合作学习法等多种教学方法,通过小组合作、任务分解等方式,引导学生积极参与到活动中来。同时,我也注重了对学生学习过程的观察和评估,及时发现并纠正学生的错误。然而,在教学过程中,我也发现了一些不足之处。从学生的学习情况来看,大部分学生能够认真参与活动,有效提升了他们的英语应用能力,也有部分学生在活动过程中存在困难,如英语表达能力不足等。针对这些问题,我将在今后的教学中采取更加个性化的教学策略,关注每一个学生的学习需求和发展情况,为他们提供更加精准的指导和帮助。
