口译点评与译文修改实例——跳出中文字面限制,让译文更地道!

今天继续和大家分享一些口译实战中的翻译案例。

随着营销渠道的日益丰富,信息的可及性日益的提升,消费者逐渐趋于理性,完成了从品牌的崇拜到追求品质品牌内涵的一个纯过程。消费者从单纯的追求性价比的基础上,进而追求心价比。什么是心价比?就是消费者愿意为一个产品花多少钱,更多取决于这个产品的能给消费者内心带来的体验,以及给自我带来的这个价值。


学生译文翻译:

With the increasingly rich marketing channels and the increasing accessibility of information, consumers gradually become rational, completing a pure process from brand worship to the pursuit of quality and brand connotation. Consumers change from the simple pursuit of cost-effectiveness to the pursuit of heart price ratio. What is the heart-price ratio? It means that how much money consumers are willing to spend on a product depends more on the experience the product can bring to the consumer's heart, and the value it brings to the self.

译文点评:

这段英文整体完整,但是表达上有些地方不清晰,没有完成意思转换,而是字面硬翻。英文句式结构也明显受到中文影响。

比如这一句,consumers gradually become rational, completing a pure process from brand worship to the pursuit of quality and brand connotation. “完成从……到……的转变”,其实可以考虑断句处理,更精炼一些

建议改为

People are no longer just brand loyal; they care more about the quality of the product and the value of the brand


Consumers change from the simple pursuit of cost-effectiveness to the pursuit of heart price ratio. 

这一句也是类似的问题,句型单一,也是“change from to”的结构。还有这一段中文其实有些不清晰,需要译员把意思梳理出来,再完成英文表达。“消费者从单纯的追求性价比的基础上,进而追求心价比”, 这里表达的意思是“消费者不仅仅追求性价比,而是会进一步追求心价比”。这里“心价比”这个概念需要理解,其实结合语境,这里就是说“品牌能给消费者带来的情绪价值”,消费者愿意为这个“情绪价值”支付溢价,这个概念可以翻译为“emotional value for money”,而不是字面翻译成"heart price ratio"。

建议改为It's no longer just about getting a good deal or the cost. Consumers are now pursuing what we call "emotional value for money".
