暑退秋来，乐启学程。校园内洋溢着新学年的喜悦。伴随着同学们的欢声笑语和老师们的亲切问候，期待已久的新学年开始啦！复旦附中国际部新学年的学生培养主题为“探索与创新”。9月2日，小学部和中学部分别举行了精彩纷呈的开学典礼。
Summer is over and autumn is arriving. It’s time to start the happy journey of learning. The campus is filled with joy for the new academic year. With the laughters of students and the cordial greetings of teachers,
the long-awaited new academic year has begun! The theme of this new academic year of FDIS is “Exploration and Innovation”. On September 2, the ES and MSHS held wonderful opening ceremonies respectively.

9月2日上午，复旦附中国际部小学部开学典礼如期召开。小学部主任助理张曼莉老师欢迎同学们回到校园。张老师播放了小学部上一学年的活动集锦，精彩的视频唤起了同学们美好的回忆。在大屏幕上看到去年的自己和小伙伴们，同学们哈哈大笑，多么欢乐的场景呀！在教师介绍环节，张老师采用了AI卡通图像转换技术，将老师们的照片转换为可爱的卡通图像，供同学们竞猜。这可难不倒熟悉老师的同学们，大家纷纷叫出喜爱的老师的名字。
On the morning of September 2, the Opening Ceremony of Elementary School was held as scheduled. Ms. Mary Zhang, Director Assistant of ES, welcomed the students back to campus. Ms. Mary played a video with photo highlights of events from last school year. The wonderful video evoked the students' good memories. Seeing themselves and their friends on the big screen, the students laughed out loud.
What a joyful scene! In the teacher introduction session, Ms. Mary used AI cartoon image conversion technology to convert the teachers' photos into cute cartoon images for the students to guess. This was not difficult for the students who were familiar with the teachers. Everyone called out the names of their favorite teachers.

上一学年的小学学生会成员、来自六年级的Candy代表学生会发表了演讲。Candy非常怀念充实又美好的五年小学时光，表达了对学校和老师们的感谢。她鼓励小学生们能在新的学年勇于探索与创新，认真学习，积极参加校内外活动。Candy也希望五年级的同学们踊跃报名竞选学生会，带领小学生们一起把校园建设得越来越好。
Candy, a sixth grader who was a member of the ES student union last year, gave a speech on behalf of the student union. Candy missed her five fulfilling and wonderful years very much and expressed her gratitude to the school and teachers. She encouraged the elementary school students to be brave in exploration and innovation,
study hard, and actively participate in activities inside and outside the school in the new school year. Candy also hoped that the fifth graders would actively sign up for the student union election and lead the elementary school students to build a better campus.

来自二年级袋鼠班的Baron同学代表二年级的哥哥姐姐们，给一年级的弟弟妹妹们提供了一些快速适应学校生活的小提示。看着个头与讲台一般高的小朋友条理清晰地列出若干注意事项，老师们不禁点头赞许。相信一年级的新生们在哥哥姐姐的模范带领下，能够快速适应小学生活，成为优秀的小学生。
Baron, a student from Grade 2 Kangaroo Class, represented the second-grade older brothers and sisters and provided some tips for the first-grade younger brothers and sisters to quickly adapt to school life. Seeing the child, who was as tall as the podium, clearly listed several
tips, the teachers nodded in approval. We believe that under the exemplary leadership of the older brothers and sisters, the first-grade freshmen will be able to quickly adapt to elementary school life and become excellent students.

国际部小学部副主任马斯晨老师、课程协调员黄和平老师和学务主管助理范宇诗老师介绍了学校的组织结构、日常流程，提醒了一些注意事项，并给同学们送上开学的祝福。
Mr. Scott Ma, Deputy Director of ES, Ms. Susan Huang, ES Curriculum Coordinator, and Ms. Fancy Fan, Assistant to the ES Dean of Student Affairs Office,
introduced the school's organizational structure and daily procedures, reminded students of some precautions, and sent their best wishes for the start of school.

复旦附中副校长、国际部主任李峻老师发表了振奋人心的演讲。李老师展示了汉字“新”的由来、演变及其富含的哲理。李老师表扬了四年级的Vicky、Ethan、Annie、Jake和Maggie，他们在“我理想中的教室”小组活动中充分展现了主人翁意识，发挥设计、动手、合作才能，共同创造了他们眼中的理想教室。也许，这些孩子们未来会成为杰出的设计师、建筑师。
Ms. Jun Li, Vice Principal of High School Affiliated to Fudan University (FDFZ) and Director of FDIS, delivered an inspiring speech. Ms. Li demonstrated the origin, evolution and philosophy of the Chinese character "新". She also praised Vicky, Ethan, Annie, Jake and Maggie
in Grade 4 for fully demonstrating their sense of ownership in the group activity of "My Ideal Classroom", exerting their design, manual and cooperative talents to jointly create the ideal classroom in their eyes. Perhaps, these children will become outstanding designers and architects in the future.

在上一学年学校组织的TEDx演讲活动中，Hilary和KB Zhang作为小学生代表参加了演讲。他们敢于挑战自我，用年轻的声音在TED的舞台上发声，用深思熟虑的演讲展示了他们的智慧和表达能力。李老师也热烈欢迎了2024届一年级新生加入FDIS大家庭，鼓励他们勇敢追赶优秀的学长学姐，天天努力学习，天天进步一点点，不断超越自己。
In the TEDx event organized by the school last school year, Hilary and KB Zhang participated in the speech as representatives of ES students. They dared to challenge themselves, spoke on the TED stage with their young voices, and demonstrated their wisdom and expression ability with their
thoughtful speeches. Ms. Li also warmly welcomed Grade 1 students to join the FDIS family, encouraging them to bravely catch up with excellent seniors, study hard and make progress every day, and constantly challenge themselves.

“探索与创新”不仅仅是满足好奇心、解决问题，也是推动个人、社会乃至人类不断进步的方式，是社会责任和全球能力的体现。在最后，李老师给同学们送上新学年寄语：“点燃创新火炬，照亮探索之旅。”希望同学们能够不断探索与创新，积极参与校内外活动，不断突破自己，实现自身价值。
"Exploration and Innovation" is not only to satisfy curiosity and solve problems, but also a way to promote the continuous progress of individuals, society and even mankind. It is a manifestation of social responsibility and global competence. At the end of the speech, Ms. Li made a wish for the students in this new academic year:
"Light up the torch of innovation, and illuminate the journey of exploration." Ms. Li hopes that the students can continue to explore and innovate, actively participate in activities inside and outside the school, constantly challenge themselves, and realize their own value.

A new semester has started
复旦附中国际部中学部开学典礼于9月2日下午在笃志楼6楼举行。中学部全体师生共同参加了典礼，共庆新学年的到来。
The Opening Ceremony of the Middle and High School of FDIS was held in the afternoon of September 2 on the 6th floor of Duzhi Building.
All teachers and students of the Middle and High school attended the ceremony to celebrate the arrival of the new school year.

优美的歌曲《Cruel Summer》由国际部Balami Band学生乐队激情演绎。伴随着青春旋律，中学部开学典礼的序幕正式拉开。
The beautiful song “Cruel Summer” was performed passionately by the student band - Balami Band of FDIS.
Accompanied by the youthful melody, the prelude to the opening ceremony of the middle and high school was officially launched.

作为主持人，11年级的Yuyan与Jeffrey首先邀请了复旦附中副校长、国际部主任李峻老师发表讲话，李老师结合学年主题“探索与创新”向同学们分享了她的体会，她通过列举爱因斯坦、黎曼等科学家的例子想要告诉我们，探索和创新形影不离，这是一条自我挑战之路。希望每个人都带有“窄门”精神，勇于挑战自己，展现出卓越的探究和创新能力，最终实现自我超越。
As the hosts, Grade 11 Yuyan and Jeffrey first invited Ms. Jun Li, Vice Principal of High School Affiliated to Fudan University (FDFZ) and Director of FDIS, to give a speech. Ms. Li shared her experience with the students in relation to the theme of the school year, “Exploration and Innovation,” and by citing the examples of scientists such as Einstein and
Riemann, she wanted to tell us that Exploration and Innovation are inseparable, and this is a path of self-challenge. She hoped that everyone with the spirit of the “narrow gate” has the courage to challenge themselves, to show excellent ability of exploration and innovation, and ultimately to realize self-transcendence.

教师代表韦奕老师以互动问答形式分享英国之旅，将知识与趣味相结合，引领师生共赴文化探索之旅。
Teacher representative Ms. Ashley Wei shared her trip to the UK in the form of an interactive quiz,
combining knowledge with fun and leading teachers and students on a cultural journey of discovery.

在学生论坛环节中，12年级的Sean、Sophia，11年级的Jacqueline、Aimi，和10年级的Vivien五位同学结合“探索与创新”学年主题热情分享了他们参加夏校期间的独特经历以及所收获的宝贵学习成果。他们纷纷表示自己在深度思维、问题解决、团队协作等方面得到了不少提升。
In the Student Panel, Sean and Sophia from Grade 12, Jacqueline and Aimi from Grade 11, and Vivien from Grade 10 shared their unique experiences and the valuable takeaways they gained from attending the summer schools
in the context of the theme of the school year, “Exploration and Innovation”. They expressed that they have improved their depth of thinking, problem solving and teamwork.

激动人心的颁奖环节来啦！国际部教务主管庞丽丽老师与国际部学生事务办公室主管纪晓婷老师分别公布了荣誉榜、高级荣誉榜、学术优秀奖以及全能优胜奖获奖学生名单；国际部副主任全正姬老师与国际部副主任施谛文老师分别为他们颁发奖状。数学组学科组长傅雯老师公布了暑期参加AMC比赛的获奖情况，国际部主任助理孙霞老师颁奖。期待同学们在新学年里继续实践“探索与创新”，勇攀学习高峰。
Here comes the exciting award ceremony! Ms. Lili Pang, Dean of MSHS Academic Affairs, and Ms. Alting Ji, Dean of MSHS Student Affairs Office, announced the winners of the Honor Roll, High Honor Roll, Academic Excellence Award, and Seal Prize; Ms. Caroline Quan, Deputy Director of FDIS, and Ms. Christine Shi, Deputy Director of FDIS, presented the certificates
of awards to them respectively. The Head of Math Department, Ms. Ira Fu, announced the winners of the AMC competition in the summer, and the awards were presented by the Director Assistant of FDIS, Ms. Sophia Sun. We look forward to seeing our students continue to practice "Exploration and Innovation" in the new school year, and to scale new heights in their learning.

Aimi and Summer (Grade 11), Lucy (Grade 10) and Masami (Grade 9), the leaders of the Students Government Association (SGA), outlined the role of the
SGA and the activities planned for the semester, and welcomed more students to join the SGA to build a harmonious campus.

纪晓婷老师携手学生事务办公室主管助理李梦瑶老师，以趣味有奖问答形式解读学生手册上的新规新政，让同学们轻松熟记于心。
Ms. Alting Ji, together with Ms. Rachel Li, Assistant to the Dean of MSHS Student Affairs Office, explained the new rules and regulations
in the student handbook in the form of a fun quiz, so that students could easily familiarize themselves with them.

升学指导中心主管兼课程协调员陆晓燕老师与升学指导老师Ronald Park一起向大家介绍了2024届毕业生的升学情况，PSAT考试与青年学者计划项目（YRSP）等内容。他们还邀请了2024届毕业生、IB满分获得者Jake Guan同学进行分享。回顾自己三年级起就在复旦附中国际部学习与生活的经历，Jake同学认为母校不仅为他的学习赋能，还让他收获了深厚的同学情谊，尤其是与世界各地的同辈合作创新式学习更让他增长了不少见识。
Ms. Jennifer Lu, Dean of the College Counseling and Curriculum Coordinator, together with Mr. Ronald Park, College Counselor, shared the college results of the Class of 2024, the PSAT test and the Young Research Scholars Program (YRSP) to the audience. They also invited Jake Guan, a member of the Class of 2024 and IB full-score winner,
to share his stories. Looking back on his experience of studying and living in FDIS since the third grade, Jake believed that FDIS not only empowered him in his studies, but also allowed him to gain a deep friendship with his classmates, especially the innovative learning with peers from all over the world, which gave him a lot of insights.

典礼的压轴环节，迎来了国际部各部门老师的璀璨亮相，他们逐一上台，以自信而热情的姿态进行自我介绍，为整场典礼增添了更多国际色彩与温馨氛围。
The grand finale of the ceremony ushered in the dazzling self-introductions of teachers from various departments of FDIS, who came on stage
and introduced themselves with confidence and enthusiasm, adding more international flavor and a warm atmosphere to the whole ceremony.

The Opening Ceremonies of the new school year have slowly drawn down the curtain, and our journey to explore the unknown is quietly embarked on. Let us carry a fearless heart, with innovation as the sail, bravely soaring in the vast ocean of knowledge, and jointly create a new chapter of brilliance in the new year!
