The students of the Fujian group actively prepared for the trip two to three months before departure. They used local media channels to conduct in-depth research on the local customs and traditions, communicated with the teachers at the destination, and carefully planned an itinerary to ensure that each student could choose their preferred course of study, thus en-
riching their cultural exploration trip. In addition, the students gave full play to their creativity and enthusiasm to raise funds through painting, seal carving, and making cultural and creative products to buy daily necessities and Fudan University's special souvenirs as a friendly gift to the local teachers and students. After a lot of preparation, they embarked on this
journey with great expectation.

First Impressions of Qianyang
The students traveled through the tunnels and along the winding mountain roads on the bus, finally arriving at Qianyang Village, Shuangxi Town, Pingnan
County, Ningde, Fujian Province. Everyone got off the bus in front of the path, along with the green trees and vines, and hiked on foot to the academy.

At the top of the academy terrace, opening the balcony door, the students took turns taking photos on the terrace as if they had
discovered a new world; Eric even made a picture frame with his fingers and said to himself, "I want to sketch right now".

Cherilyn:
Danni and Cherilyn:
When I first arrived at Qianyang Village, the first thing I saw was the vibrant natural scenery, and the fresh air was both strange and wonderful to me. And the simple folk style here also attracted me deeply.
As a student living in the city, this opportunity to go deep into the countryside brought me an unprecedented sense of freshness and made me immediately feel the charm of village life. These
experiences of living in harmony with nature cannot be replaced by any textbook knowledge.

Sean:
Sean:
The first time I set foot in this paradisiacal place, I fell in love with it. Layers and layers of mountains wrap around the Qianyang Village, filling with a strong cultural flavor. The quiet air and fragrant flowers purified my soul after living in the city for so
long. Under the guidance of Mr. Zhang Yong, we began to understand this heavenly place step by step. From the cultural origin to the humanistic feelings, to the economic development, all of them shook my soul and made the cells of my inner soul completely unfold here.

At the evening cafe brief, Prof. Zhang Yong from Fudan University shared his experience. Relying on the resources of Fudan University, he has opened several brand courses in Qianyang Village and invested in village construction accordingly. He mentioned all the beauty, all the hardships,
and the humanistic spirit of the artisans in the countryside where he has been deeply stationed for nearly five or six years. "How many fragments of Chinese culture are still scattered in the countryside" and "the essential problem of the countryside is people" these words made the
students fall into deep thought. After the meeting, with excitement and anticipation, everyone quickly went into the preparation for the next day.

Day 1
Stop 1: Zhang's Ancestral Hall
In the vast hall, a unique art class was in progress. Prof. Zhang Yong started from the characteristics and differences between Chinese and Western architecture, the difference between "wood" and "stone", the study of "fire"
and "light", the development of inward and outward cultural patterns, and the relationship between sculpture and molding, from art to history, and from history to society. The
students were intoxicated by Prof. Zhang's sea of knowledge and listened as if they were mesmerized.

Stop 2: Relics and Ceramic Museum
In the cultural relics room, students took pictures with statues, facing the plaque to identify the word, sitting on the couch to take a rest, and feel the "old objects" on the ingenuity. Professor Zhang brought a ceramic jar and asked everyone to guess what the jar was for. The students gave a variety of answers, and
finally Tiana guessed that it was probably a tea canister. The delicate size of the mouth of the jar and the stable lower seat plate, as well as the overall curved large volume, combines the convenience of life and aesthetic interest, which is the crystallization of the local people's wisdom of hundreds of years of life.

At the Museum of Ceramics, Prof. Zhang started with a bat-shaped chopstick container, and let everyone understand the different meanings of bats in China and Europe. ( in China, the word "bat"
means "blessing" and
is a mythical beast; in Europe, bats are often associated with the plague and are vicious beasts.) A group of people create a culture, and a culture expresses its unique values in different art forms.

Stop 3: Interviews with villages
The rain is drizzling, and the thoughts are endless. Only when knocking on the doors of villagers' homes and talking to them one by one can students truly understand where
the grassroots of contemporary Chinese society are, where the problems in the countryside lie, and where rural non-heritage culture should be emphasized...
These topics are a bit heavy. Here are some excerpts of Alexander's insights for your consideration.
slide for English
Alexander:
Today, after interviewing several villagers, we truly understand the deep problem of population decline that has plagued villages and other small-town settlements worldwide.
Specifically, we learned that in Qianyang village, the population has decreased so significantly from around 600 people several decades ago that now there are
only 40 people left. This drastic population shrinkage, is a global phenomenon.
slide for English
Nonetheless, we unanimously agreed that the best course of action we could undertake was to record and document all this traditional village lifestyle before it is forever gone. By compiling all our recorded photos and videos, we plan to upload them on BiliBili and TikTok Tiktok for the rest of the world to appreciate the village lifestyle and see how concerning the global issue
of population decline in small-town settlements is. Through this, we hope that there would be people so moved by this problem that they would start a moment to protect these villages, such as converting some villages into museums or petitioning the government to start funding campaigns to attract national talent from cities into these villages.

Evening “work”
During the daytime, students were deeply attracted by the charming scenery in the countryside, intoxicated by the tranquility and serenity, and at t
he same time, they experienced the simple and sincere folk customs there with all their hearts. As night fell, these precious memories and feelings surged in their hearts, and they picked up their
brushes to paint, delicately and sincerely depicting the moments that touched their hearts during the day.

Day 2
Stop 1: Listening to Prof. Pan talk about the current situation in the countryside
The cultural heritage of Qianyang Village is undoubtedly deep, but the dilemmas it currently encounters are also real. The students brought with them the thoughts and doubts they had exchanged with the villagers yesterday afternoon, hoping to find the answers in this morning's lecture. Professor Pan Jia'en, vice director of the Institute of Rural Revitalization Strategy at Southwest University, who has been studying China's three rural issues for many years, explained the importance of protecting China's countryside by giving examples. "What has kept China going through one crisis after another for so many years is the buffer of the vast
countryside. The countryside is like a water storage lake, like a wetland, usually you can't see what it's for, and it's even a bit earthy and dirty. But when the economic crisis comes, the countryside will give us the strength to face the economic risk.Ms. Lily, CAS Coordinator, also the leading teacher, was infinitely moved when she heard this, and she encouraged the students by saying, "You are willing to choose the project of rural culture exploration, and travel a long way to Qianyang Village to understand the current situation of survival here, which is a kind of support for the rural economy and culture, and I hope that this
practical activity will deepen your impression, so that in the future, you can publicize the protection of the rural areas to more people, and this is your contribution."
slide for English
Stop 2:Collecting plant specimens in the rain
The rain was drizzling and the breeze was pleasant. Under the guidance of the local guide, the students bravely set out on the journey to research local traditional Chinese medicine and special plants. The path was rough and slippery, but the collection of traditional Chinese orest,
medicine and plants made them forget about the road for a while. The rain dampened the forest but also made the plants show a different kind of vitality. The students observed each plant, taking notes on its morphological features and growing environment. They stopped to admire the plants and looked down to take notes,
each moment filled with awe and curiosity for nature.

Evening “work”
On a quiet night, the kitchen was brightly lit and a cozy aroma filled the air. The students had prepared three home-cooked dishes: colorful fried shredded potatoes, soft roasted eggplant, and refreshing cucumber. During the busy and orderly cooking process, Guo Juan, Secretary of the Party Committee of High School Affiliated
to Fudan University, and Li Jun, Deputy Director of High School Affiliated to Fudan University and Director of Fudan International School, with their rich cooking experience, carefully guided the students. Under their guidance, the students not only improved their cooking skills but also felt the warmth of home and the strength of the team.

Day 3
Painting Review
Early in the morning of the third day, the students showed their carefully created works with great anticipation and respectfully submitted them to Prof. Zhang for review. With his profound psychological attainments, Prof. Zhang skillfully used the students' drawings as a window into each person's personality traits. He interpreted them
one by one, and his words were precise and insightful, which made everyone in the audience deeply admired. They had never expected that their own works could reveal such a wealth of personal information, which made them marvel at Prof. Zhang's unique insights, and at the same time, they were also amused and fascinated
by the marvelous connection between painting and psychology.
