On Friday's assembly, teachers and students of Hangzhou Shanghai World Foreign Language International School came together to embrace the spirit of Thanksgiving. This gathering was more than just a celebration; it was a profound educational experience in gratitude and a crucial moment for fostering a sense of international mindedness. Through a series of activities, we guided students to reflect on the meaning of gratitude and how to practice it within the diverse global community.
At the assembly, we talked about what Thanksgiving is all about and how it's connected to being open to the world. We told the story of Thanksgiving to help kids understand why it's important to be thankful. We also encouraged them to see how people in different cultures show gratitude and to respect those differences. The goal is for students to start noticing the good stuff in their lives and to think about things from a bigger, worldwide point of view. We want them to be able to talk to people from different backgrounds and to feel good about the world around them. We reminded the students to say thanks when people help them and to take care of nature, making gratitude a part of their everyday life.
The assembly went really well, which shows that our efforts to teach gratitude paid off. By joining in and experiencing things, students got to know more about why Thanksgiving is important, but even more than that, they figured out how to be thankful in their own lives and think about things from a global point of view. We think these will help them become people who care about others and do their part in the world. Now that the assembly is over, we want the students to keep feeling grateful and thinking globally in everything they do. Let's make gratitude and respect a part of their everyday lives.
