分享几个最近阅读到的句子：1）China's industrial output growth slowed to a five-month low in August, while retail sales and new home prices weakened further, bolstering the case for aggressive stimulus to shore up the economy and help it hit its annual growth target. 这句话里值得留意的便是bolster the case for sth这个表达，这里的case的意思：The case for or against a plan or idea consists of the facts and reasons used to support it or oppose it. 所以，也可以说bolster the case against sth. 上面的shore up也要学会使用，新闻中经常读到，if you shore up something that is weak or about to fail, you do something in order to strengthen it or support it. 2) To aid the housing market, China may cut interest rates on over $5 trillion in outstanding mortgages as early as this month. 这句话主要是分享给很多初学翻译的人，汉语中的“存量房贷”、“存量贷款”等表达，便是这里的outstanding，比如outstanding loans便是我们说的存量贷款。3）With our view of a worsening growth slowdown under new headwinds in H2, we expect Beijing will be eventually forced to serve as the builder of last resort by directly providing funding to those delayed residential projects that have been pre-sold. （以前分享过，再次分享一下，汉语中所谓“兜底”的这个表述，很多时候都可以用last resort来处理，比如a financier of last resort, a lender of last resort等等。4） The People's Liberation Army's Eastern Theatre Command said the passage of the two ships - a frigate and a supply vessel - was "public hyping", and that its navy and air forces monitored and warned them throughout.
