In this fruitful and refreshing autumn, Changwai Bilingual School hosted the inaugural event of the "CBS Talk" ,which aims to provide a platform for all teachers to share wisdom, exchange experiences, and foster professional growth. The first session, titled "Thesis Writing and Professional Development," was led by Principal Nancy Lee. Over 40 teachers from the EYP, PYP, MYP, and HS departments attended the lecture.
Principal Lee's lecture covered various aspects of thesis writing in great detail. She explained how to select research topics, conduct literature reviews, and develop writing skills for professional growth. Additionally, she provided an in-depth analysis of well-known academic journals. Through vivid case studies, Principal Lee helped teachers understand how to choose meaningful research topics and angles, offering unique insights into innovation. She emphasized that good research topics often stem from practical experiences, particularly from real classroom challenges, which serve as rich material for thesis writing.
Principal Lee also highlighted the importance of building a strong foundation for new teachers, advising them not to rush into pursuing innovation. She stressed that research topics should originate from daily teaching practices. Only through long-term teaching experience and reflection can one lay a solid foundation for thesis writing and innovation.
At the end of the lecture, Principal Lee encouraged everyone: "Writing starts with reading, and starting is more important than finishing. Set goals, and remember that completion is more crucial than perfection. Learning begins with imitation, and writing needs companions!"
As the opening session of the "CBS Talk" series, this lecture received widespread praise. CBS will continue to organize similar events, inviting more educators and professionals from CBS and beyond to offer learning and development opportunities for teachers, helping them make greater strides in both teaching and research.
