这篇文章从题目中就透着残忍,“Well, a 17-year-old girl Amy Graham has been diagnosed as having terminal(晚期的) cancer. Doctors gave her three days. Her dying wish was to attend your lecture.”

Para 1: At that point, an idea struck me.

After introducing and inviting Amy and her dad onto the stage, voice trembling, I called out to the audience, "Let's harness the energy in this room to create a powerful intention for Amy, one that radiates love, strength, and healing.” Instantly, chanting of hope filled the hall as if the very air were charged with possibility. Then, meeting her eyes, I handed Amy the microphone. Pausing a brief moment, she smiled, “You know, death is on my doorstep. My goal isn’t to live forever but to create something that might. I always believed that if I could just inspire someone, maybe my fight wouldn’t be in vain. So, thank you all for this.”

Para 2: With a round of applause, Amy's dad led her off the stage.

The audience erupted into a heartfelt standing ovation. When the workshop ended, before leaving, I exchanged contacts with Amy. Yet, with each passing day, I grew more afraid to dial until I received a call from Amy but heard her dad’s voice on the other end, his tone heavy with sorrow, “Amy graduated high school as she dreamed. Her tenacity had defied the odds. Last night, she left us peacefully at home. Thank you.” His words hung in the air. Then, remembering her bright red hat contrasting beautifully against the limelight, I replied, “I’m so sorry for your loss. But in us, she shall live, forever.”

A Sonnet for a Father’s Heart

In quiet shadows where your sorrow weeps,
A light once danced, now flickers in the night.
Your daughter’s laughter, in your memory, leaps,
A cherished girl who brought the world such light.

Her spirit wanders where the soft winds sigh,
In fields of dreams where pain can find no hold.
With every tear, know love will never die;
Her story, in your heart, will still unfold.

Though days may stretch like shadows on the wall,
And silence echoes where her voice once played,
Remember, in your heart, she walks with all,
A gentle presence that will never fade.

So let your heart be wrapped in love’s embrace;
In every tear, she shines—your saving grace.
