他首先派遣巨灵神出阵，巨灵神来到水帘洞前，大声怒骂：“好一个狂妄的臭猴子！你有何本事竟敢自称齐天大圣！看我一斧！”
After hearing this, Sun Wukong was extremely angry and said, "I originally wanted to beat you to death with one stick. But there is no one to go and report to the Jade Emperor. You quickly go back and tell the Jade Emperor to confer on me the title of the Great Sage Equalling Heaven. Otherwise, I will rebel and go up to the Lingxiao Palace and make him unable to sit on the dragon throne!"
孙悟空听后，怒不可遏，说道：“老孙本欲一棒将你打死，只是无人去给玉帝老儿报信。你速速回去转告玉帝，封我为齐天大圣，否则，老孙就反上凌霄宝殿，让他坐不成龙椅！”
After several rounds, the Mighty Spirit God was defeated and retreated.
几个回合下来，巨灵神不敌败下阵来。
Seeing this, the Heavenly King Li Jing ordered Prince Nezha to go into battle. When Wukong saw Nezha coming, he said contemptuously, "Whose child are you? Your milk teeth haven't fallen out yet and your baby hair hasn't fallen off. How dare you come and fight with me."
李天王见状，又命令三太子哪吒出阵。悟空见哪吒前来，轻蔑地说：“你是谁家的小孩子，奶牙未退，胎毛未干，也敢来与我争斗。”
Seeing that Wukong looked down on him, Nezha was suddenly enraged. He transformed himself into a being with three heads and six arms. Waving six kinds of weapons, he attacked Wukong blindly. Wukong also displayed his divine powers and transformed into a being with three heads and six arms. He shook his golden cudgel and it turned into three. After thirty rounds of fierce battle with Nezha, it was hard to tell who was the winner. Then, Wukong took advantage of the chaos to pluck a hair and turned it into his own appearance to continue fighting with Nezha. But his true body quietly arrived behind Nezha and gave a fierce blow. Nezha was injured and defeated and fled back to the camp.
哪吒见悟空瞧不起自己，顿时大怒，摇身一变，化为三头六臂之身，舞动着六般兵器，没头没脑地向悟空打来。悟空也施展出神通，变成三头六臂，将金箍棒晃了一晃，变成三条，与哪吒大战三十回合，难分胜负。随后，悟空趁乱拔下一根毫毛，变作自己的模样继续与哪吒对打，而真身却悄然赶到哪吒身后，狠狠一棒打下去。哪吒负伤败阵，逃回营寨。
The Heavenly King Li Jing saw that he could not win and had no choice but to report to the Jade Emperor. The Jade Emperor had no choice but to confer on Sun Wukong the title of "the Great Sage Equalling Heaven".
李天王见无法取胜，只好上奏玉皇大帝。玉皇大帝无奈之下，只得封孙悟空为 “齐天大圣”。
