The scenery along the way was beautiful, and Tang Sanzang and his two disciples were chatting and laughing as they traveled, when suddenly, a wide river blocked their path.
一路上风光秀丽，唐僧师徒三人有说有笑地前行，忽然被一条宽阔的大河拦住了去路。
This river was called the Flowing Sand River, its waters so deep that even a goose feather could not float on it.
这条河叫流沙河，河水深不见底，鹅毛都无法漂浮。
Sun Wukong saw a stone tablet by the river, inscribed with the words: "Flowing Sand River, eight hundred li of sand, three thousand fathoms deep, no feather can float, and reed flowers will sink."
悟空看到河上方立着一块石碑，上面写着：“流沙河，八百流沙界，三千弱水深，鹅毛漂不起，芦花定低沉”。
It was a sign of the river's great danger.
这预示着这条河非常危险。
As Wukong was observing, a monster with a blue face, red hair, and nine human skulls around his neck suddenly emerged from the water and charged toward Tang Sanzang.
正当悟空在观察时，一个蓝脸红发，脖子上挂着九个人头骨的妖怪突然从水中冒出，直扑向唐僧。
Seeing this, Wukong wasted no time, immediately grabbing Tang Sanzang and flying several miles away.
悟空见状，不敢怠慢，急忙抱起唐僧飞出几里外。
At that moment, Zhu Bajie put down his load, grabbed his rake, and rushed at the monster.
这时，猪八戒放下担子，拿起钉耙就向妖怪冲去。
The monster blocked Bajie's attack with his treasure staff, and the two began to fight fiercely.
妖怪用宝杖挡住了钉耙，两人激战起来。
Seeing that Bajie wasn't gaining the upper hand, Wukong decided to join in.
悟空见八戒不占上风，决定自己出手。
He told Tang Sanzang, "Master, stay here and don't move, I'll go handle this."
他对唐僧说：“师父，你在这里别动，等我去收拾他。”
Wukong flew into the air and swung his golden staff at the monster.
悟空腾空飞起，挥动金箍棒。
The monster, startled, quickly dodged and dove back into the water.
妖怪慌忙躲避，迅速钻入水中。
Wukong thought to himself, "This river is too dangerous to cross by boat, and we can't get across without defeating the monster."
悟空心想：“这河太危险了，不能乘船，除非先降服妖怪才能渡过。”
So he said to Bajie, "You're better at fighting underwater than I am. Why don't you go down and deal with him?"
于是他对八戒说：“你水下本领比我强，你下去打他吧。”
Reluctantly, Bajie replied, "I was once the commander of the Heavenly River, so I'm good underwater, but that monster is too strong for me to handle."
八戒不情愿地说：“我以前是天河的总管，水下功夫是不错，但那妖怪太厉害了，我斗不过他。”
Wukong said, "You just need to lure him out of the water, and I'll take care of the rest."
悟空说：“你只需要把他引上岸，剩下的交给我。”
Bajie reluctantly took off his clothes and jumped into the water, heading straight to the riverbed to find the monster.
八戒不情愿地脱下衣裳，跳进水里，直奔河底去找妖怪。
Seeing Bajie from afar, the monster called out, "Monk, where are you going?"
妖怪远远看见八戒，高声喊道：“和尚，你要到哪里去？”
Bajie responded, "What kind of monster are you?"
八戒回敬道：“你是什么妖怪？”
The monster replied, "I am the Curtain-Lifting General of Heaven, banished to earth for breaking the heavenly rules. Every seven days, I must kill one person."
妖怪说：“我是天宫的卷帘大将，因触犯天条被贬下凡，每七天要杀一个人。”
Bajie sneered, "Your pig ancestor is here to find you. Take this!"
八戒嘲笑道：“你猪祖宗来找你了，吃我一耙！”
He swung his rake again, and the two fought fiercely once more.
八戒又挥起钉耙，二人再次激战起来。
Unable to hold back, Wukong jumped to the riverbank and raised his golden staff to strike.
悟空忍不住跳到岸边，举起金箍棒就打。
The monster, frightened of the golden staff, immediately dived back into the water.
妖怪见了金箍棒，立刻慌忙钻进水中。
Frustrated, Bajie complained, "You impatient monkey! Wait until I've lured him out of the water before you strike. Now that he's escaped, what will you do?"
八戒着急地抱怨：“你这猴急的弼马温，等我把他引上岸你再打，现在他逃回水里了，你怎么办？”
Wukong replied, "Don't worry, you go back underwater and check again."
悟空回答：“别着急，你再下水去看看。”
Determined, Bajie twirled his rake with both hands, parting the waters as he dove deeper.
八戒下定决心，双手舞动钉耙，分开水路，直往水底钻去。
The monster, still recovering from the earlier fight, was startled again when he heard the sound of water splashing.
妖怪还未从之前的战斗中恢复过来，忽然又听到水响，吓了一跳。
He turned to see Bajie coming toward him, pushing through the water.
他转头一看，原来是八戒推水而来。
The monster raised his treasure staff and shouted, "Monk, where are you headed?"
妖怪举起宝杖高喊：“和尚，你要去哪里？”
He fought Bajie fiercely for dozens of rounds, but Bajie soon pretended to flee.
他和八戒激战了几十个回合，但八戒很快假装逃走。
The monster chased him to the riverbank but, no matter how much Bajie taunted him, refused to step out of the water.
妖怪追到河边，却无论八戒如何叫骂，就是不上岸。
As the sun began to set, Bajie and Wukong had no choice but to give up for the day.
天色渐渐暗了，八戒和悟空只得暂时作罢。
