The next day, as dawn broke, Sun Wukong hurried to Mount Putuo to meet Guanyin Bodhisattva and told her about the difficulties he encountered at the Flowing Sand River.
第二天，天刚刚亮，孙悟空赶到普陀山拜见观音菩萨，告诉她他在流沙河遇到阻碍的情况。
The Bodhisattva said, "He was originally a curtain-lifting general in the Heavenly Palace, but he violated the celestial rules and was exiled to the Flowing Sand River, turning into a monster."
菩萨说：“他本来是天宫的卷帘大将，因为犯了天规，被贬到流沙河，变成了妖怪。”
"Later, I persuaded him, and he agreed to help Tang Sanzang retrieve the scriptures from the West. I gave him the religious name 'Sha Wujing.'"
“后来我劝导他，他愿意帮助唐僧西天取经，我给他取了法号‘沙悟净’。”
"You only need to mention the mission to retrieve the scriptures, and he will come ashore."
“你只需提到取经的事情，他就会上岸。”
The Bodhisattva took a red gourd from her sleeve, handed it to Huian, and instructed him, "Take this gourd and go with Sun Wukong to the Flowing Sand River."
菩萨从袖子里拿出一个红葫芦，交给惠岸，吩咐道：“你带着这个葫芦，和孙悟空一起去流沙河。”
"Just call out for Sha Wujing, and he will emerge. Then, you can tie the skulls around his neck together to form a boat and help Tang Sanzang cross the Flowing Sand River."
“只要喊沙悟净的名字，他就会出来。然后你们把他脖子上的骷髅连在一起，结成一条船，帮助唐僧渡过流沙河。”
Upon hearing Huian’s call, Wujing was overjoyed and swam to the shore.
悟净听到惠岸的呼唤，非常高兴，游到岸上。
Knowing that Tang Sanzang was the scripture seeker, he immediately knelt and said, "Master, I have eyes but failed to see the truth. I have offended you many times, and I humbly beg for your forgiveness."
他知道唐僧是取经人，赶紧跪下，说：“师父，弟子有眼无珠，不识真人，多有冒犯，恳请原谅。”
He also paid respects to his two elder brothers.
他也向两位师兄行礼。
Tang Sanzang was pleased by his respectful manners and named him 'Sha Heshang' or 'Sha Seng.'
唐僧见他行事礼貌得体，非常高兴，给他取名‘沙和尚’，也叫‘沙僧’。
Sha Seng removed the skulls from around his neck and, along with the red gourd brought by Huian, turned them into a boat that could float on the Flowing Sand River, helping Tang Sanzang cross the river.
沙僧取下脖子上的人骨，和惠岸带来的红葫芦一起，变成了一条可以浮在流沙河上的船，帮助唐僧渡过了河。
From then on, Sha Seng left the Flowing Sand River and followed Tang Sanzang on the journey to retrieve the scriptures from the West.
从那以后，沙僧就跟着唐僧一起西天取经，告别了流沙河。
