FUN WITH SCIENCE
While getting a great grade is important, it’s not the only way to show you’re a promising young scientist. On October 25th, our Grade 7 and Grade 8 WUIS students showcased their scientific knowledge and skills through a series of fun, engaging activities. Let’s hear what our young scientists have to say about their experience:
Olivia Chu
In the science competition, I participated in an exciting first round where my partner and I guessed words based on definitions and gestures given by each other. Although we were nervous, the experience was engaging and memorable, with an atmosphere full of excitement as teams from different classes competed. It sparked my enthusiasm for science.
Looking ahead, I think we could improve by practicing more to build confidence and sharpen our communication skills. Getting feedback from others could also help us identify areas for improvement, ensuring we’re better prepared and more relaxed for future competitions. Additionally, working on expanding our vocabulary and understanding of scientific terms would make it easier to describe concepts more accurately.

The science contest focusing on human organs was an exciting and challenging experience. Throughout the event, we had to draw on our in-depth knowledge of various organs in the human body. Each question felt like a key, opening the door to new insights about these vital parts. The intensity peaked as we raced against time to fill in the blanks, pushing us to think quickly and accurately under pressure.
When it ended, I felt a profound sense of accomplishment. I realized not only how much I had learned, but also how much more there is to explore. This contest didn’t just test our knowledge—it tested our resilience and adaptability. It deepened my interest in science and inspired me to study even harder to uncover the mysteries of the human body. Truly, it was an unforgettable experience.

This competition taught me lessons that can’t be learned from books. I participated in a challenge to arrange the first 20 elements of the periodic table. Although our teacher had asked us to memorize them beforehand, I hadn’t taken it seriously enough, so I didn’t finish first. Despite not winning, I gained a lot from the competition, including new vocabulary, experimental methods, and additional knowledge. Overall, it was a very interesting experience.
This science competition was not only a test of knowledge but also a chance for our students to build essential skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, creativity, and determination. Through events like these, we hope to inspire our young scientists to continue exploring and learning, nurturing their passion for science and helping them grow into curious, confident thinkers. Well done to all our participants!
