Elegy to Julia (and other two poems)
The Child of Kilimanjaro
Once there were green fields kissed by the sun,
Once there were valleys where children used to run.
Kilimanjaro's white cap touched the blue sky
And we, being the children, thought we could fly.
We played with respect, solidarity and love,
As Mzee Kilima was watching from above.
Now we are scattered all around
Like the autumn leaves on the ground.
Our spirit though remains in our childhood grounds
While ruthless time makes its rounds.
Kilimanjaro stands firmly upright
As our nostalgic memories become dreams at night.
Now, dear Julia, you have skipped off Life’s great stage,
At a mature age.
Your performance through the years,
Was that of offer, love and tears.
When ruthless time took its toll,
Your offer was forgotten by all.
You were thrown to the border
And waited for the order.
Your soul is now free to fly;
Just like a butterfly
You will roam around,
Despite the fact that your body lies deep in the ground.
You will fly back to those green fields kissed by the sun,
Back to where, as children, we used to run...
Indeed, what remains behind
Is only in the mind!
Mature Teen
18 is the age of legal independence,
Or is it of dependence?
You are independent
Upon yourself to be depended!
Responsibility!
This means that you must obtain the ability
To lead your way in life;
With reason, wits and determination, get through the strife.
The education you receive
Offers a vast horizon to perceive!
Now, you may independently follow the path which will lead
To your specific field!
Create the stage upon which you will perform;
Your offer to the world in every form;
Out there, in society,
With dignity, project your personality!
For achievement you will certainly need all your good friends near,;
Then you will surely cheer
When success
Comes in excess!
Life’s Philosophy
Love,
Comes from above!
Consideration and care,
Is an effort you offer and bear!
Disapproval, disagreement,
Can be reasonably ament.
Bitterness leads to distress,
Unhappiness in excess!
Suppression, aggression,
Depression
For instance,
Create a painful distance.
No one has the right I suppose,
Upon others his will to impose.
Communication, explanation, understanding and reason,
May solve problems in every season.
Life is what you make it,
So, do not break it.
Let reason lead your spirit
Then happiness will have no limit.
Every winter,
Which is always bitter,
Is succeeded by spring and fragranced blossom,
And the sequence is just awesome!

乞力马扎罗的孩子
曾经有阳光亲吻过的绿色田野，
曾经有个山谷，孩子们常常在那里奔跑。
乞力马扎罗山的白色帽子触碰到了蓝天
我们这些孩子以为自己能飞。
我们带着尊重、团结和爱一起玩耍、
乞力马陛下就在天上看着我们。
现在，我们散落四周
就像地上的秋叶。
但我们的精神仍留在童年的土地上
在无情的时光中轮回。
乞力马扎罗山巍然屹立
当我们的怀旧回忆变成夜晚的梦。
现在，亲爱的朱莉娅，你已跳出了人生的大舞台、
在成熟的年纪
你这些年来的表现
是奉献、爱和泪水。
当无情的时间夺走了你的生命
所有人遗忘你的奉献
你被逐到边境
等待命令。
现在，你的灵魂自由飞翔；
就像蝴蝶一样
你将四处遨游，
尽管你的身体深埋地下。
你将飞回那些被阳光亲吻过的绿色田野、
回到我们孩提时代奔跑的地方……
事实上，留下的
只在心中
成熟的青少年

可以得到合理的宽容
苦涩带来痛苦，
过度的不快乐！
压抑、侵略，
抑郁，
例如，
制造出痛苦的距离。
在我看来，没人有权
将自己的意愿强加于他人。
沟通、解释、理解与理智，
可以解决每个季节的问题。
生活是自己创造的，
所以，不要破坏它。
让理智引领你的精神，
幸福才会无止境。
每个冬天
总是凛冽
都会被春天和芬芳的花朵所取代，
这一连串的变化令人惊叹！

About the author
Rubina Andredakis is Greek, Cretan, born in 1948 in Moshi-Tanzania, East Africa. She has obtained several diplomas in four languages (English, Greek, French and Italian), and has acquired a BA degree in Journalism and Creative Writing. She has worked as an English teacher. Since 1992, she has done a lot of translations and has written quite a number of short stories, poems and articles. From 2002 her work starts being published, occasionally being the featuring writer. She is the Founder of RUBINI PUBLICATIONS, Editor/Publisher of the yearly magazine “Creature Features –The Ark of Writing”, which contains short stories, articles and poems referring to the creatures of the world. The magazine has been appointed as BEST Magazine containing poetry for 2011and 2016 by IPTRC, and she has been appointed by IWA as BEST EDITOR 2013 for the same magazine. The 1st and 2nd volume of “The Highlights of Creature Features”, which is a collection of the best entries from issue 1-12 and 13-20 of the magazine, are also edited and published by her. She is also the publisher of “The Sons Of Camus Writers International Journal”, which is yearly and edited by Miss Ann Davidson, Canada. “The Man From The Shadows Of Idi” is her first historical novel. Most of her poems have been translated into Russian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, Hindi, Sanskrit (Indo-Asian Literature Academy) Chinese and Swahili too. She permanently residing Cyprus, since 1970. She is a member of the International Writers & Artists Association (IWA). She has also been appointed as BEST Translator 2013 by IPTRC (International Poetry Translation Research Centre). Creativity Prizewinner 2016 Honorary Member Maison Naaman Pour la Culture (MNAC), having her poem ‘Alexander’ published in 10 languages in the Foundation’s Yearbook 2016. 2016, she has published a multilingual Poetry Anthology, “A & 1 Is The Founder -50+1 Poems In 10+1 Languages”. 2018, Poems included in the Contemporary International Poetry. 2019 Untamable Time Trilingual Poetry Antholopgy by Dr. Adolf P. Shvedchikov. 2018, 2019 and 2020 Poetry Prizewinner in Italian Poeti Della Società. 2021 publication of a travelogue Flight to the Soul, the Spirit the Roots of Crete.
