Remembering My Mother (group poems)
Mother’s Smile
When the leaves in my hometown start to turn yellow
Mom left
I was seized by this cruel autumn, my heart aching
Thinking of you today
Thinking of you tomorrow
Your smile fills the whole world
When I look back
You are standing at the gate of the small courtyard
Seeing us off or
Welcoming us home
The Ever-present Mother
Stepping into the house, whether I see you or not
I will call out, Mom
But now you no longer respond
Only your kind gaze
Slowly flows into my heart from the photo on the table
The feeling of home is still so warm
Mom, you are everywhere
When I open my eyes, it's your figure
When I close my eyes, you are in my mind
In the deepest part of my heart
Together with the blood you gave me
Nourishing me for eternity
Mom
You just haven't responded for the moment
Planting Longing on the Cloud
I plant the gentle longing in the air
Wherever I go, your figure follows me
I leave the remaining time in my hometown
Measuring the fields you traversed with my footsteps
In the early morning when the azaleas are blooming like fire
I tidy up your courtyard
I polish the sickle you once used
I plant the gentle longing on the thick cloud
With a gust of wind, the fluttering snowflakes return the longing to me
Let the snowflakes dance with the fallen leaves
Still unable to change being blanketed by the boundless heavy snow
I blossom into a snowflake amid the dense snow
Quietly and gently landing on your grave
Mother’s Spring
The remaining might of winter lingers
The snow hasn't melted completely
Mother’s hoe has already fallen on the hard soil
The turned-up soil emits white smoke, breathing in the spring air greedily
The potato seeds are ready
They are temporarily in the pits dug by mother
Germinating in the meltwater of snow
Waiting for a pattering spring rain
Then breaking through the soil and turning green to greet this spring
The early spring sunshine is very warm
The branches of the trees have bulged with buds
In mother's eyes, the mountains are green and the waters are beautiful
Mother’s Morning
The crowing of the rooster startles mother's cooking smoke, making it stagger
The pig's grunting is dull and muffled
Mother quickens the rhythm of stirring the pig fodder
The birds by the field are chirping
They are digging out the corn seeds planted yesterday
Mother is worried when replanting
She presses the soil covering the seeds again and again
Looking into the Eyes of the Young Mother
This photo shows mother at about twenty years old.
She was slender with long black braids.
In her clear eyes, there was a touch of innocence.
At that time, mother was in her youthful prime.
In the year after this photo was taken,
I came into this world.
In the following dozen or so years,
Mother raised the six of us sisters.
From then on, daily necessities and
six or seven acres of barren land
filled mother's eyes.
Today, fifty years later, it's Mother’s Day.
Outside the window, it's quiet and the sunlight is just right.
I look into the eyes of the young mother.
The light in her eyes becomes kind.
She sees her son gradually growing old.
I see a mother who is always young.
The Mission of Magnolia Blossoms
The wind of early spring is still chilly.
The magnolia petals look back repeatedly as they fall.
Falling back to the tree root and turning into nourishing soil is her mission.
Mother walks with light steps and stops
in the lines of my poem about magnolia blossoms.
She is waiting for the leaves that are late to arrive
after the flowers have all fallen.
The leaves are about to emerge.
With a gust of wind, a shower of rain, and a burst of sunlight,
the whole tree turns green.
At this moment, mother's breath brushes over the leaves.
The sound of her conversation with the leaves
is like calling a child who returns home late in childhood,
long and urgent.
My Longing Sprouts in the Land
Mom, your Jiulong is so beautiful
Your Wanba and Hongba are so beautiful
It seems that they can easily cover up all the hardships
Mom, your life was so peaceful and simple
So many bitter days
Were carried away by waves of cooking smoke
Your only luxury was the children growing up healthily
And the seasons of corn and potatoes you planted
Now, your hope is still diffusing in the cooking smoke
The verses I search for you
Are taking root and sprouting
In the vegetable garden you dug countless times
