“饭搭子” “学习搭子”“旅游搭子”，似乎全网都在寻找能陪伴自己的那个“搭子”。

那么“搭子”究竟是什么呢？China Daily 对“搭子”的英文释义为：
"Da Zi" refers to a casual friendship. Although they are not intimate friends, they do offer a relationship that people are eager to have, especially when you just want someone to eat with or shop with but not share your deepest secrets with. 1
“搭子”指的是一种临时的（casual）友谊。虽然这种关系不算亲密，但他们能够给人们一种陪伴。“搭子”代表了一个特定场景中的陪伴者，通常是因为某种共同兴趣、爱好或需求而结识的人。他们不需高强度的情感交流、却提供了朋友般的精神支持。
报道中使用 intimate 来表示朋友之间的亲密的关系。单词 intimate 在辞典中的释义为 having a close and friendly relationship，即与某人有亲密、友好的关系。

除了 accompany 之外，单词 escort 也有陪同的意思，但是与 accompany 不同的是，它多了一份保护和引导的含义。在辞典中的释义为 to go with somebody to protect or guard them or to show them the way，也就是陪同某人保护或引导他们前行，中文可以翻译为“护送”。

其实“搭子”就是朋友的一种新说法。在英语中，除了我们熟知的 friend，还有很多表示朋友、伴侣的词汇。比如，pal 就是一种较为口语化的说法——我们可以用 pen pal 来表示“笔友”。
pal 还可以与介词组成一些短语。如 pal up 的意思是 to become friendly with somebody（和某人做朋友），pal around 的意思是 to do things with somebody as a friend（以朋友之名和某人共同做某件事情）。
