The Las Rocas residential project is located in the La Peña region in northern Valle de Bravo, Mexico State, an area with a unique topography rich in rock outcrops and native vegetation. Architects Ignacio Urquiza and Ana Paula de Alba of IUA Ignacio Urquiza Arquitectos carefully designed this residential complex to blend perfectly with the natural environment.
From the outside, the volumes of Las Rocas are arranged freely in six directions, without touching each other, but cleverly separated to create gaps, views, natural light and ventilation. This arrangement allows the building to fully adapt to the terrain and complement the surrounding natural landscape. The building's matte gray stucco finish echoes the color of the surrounding rocks, and is only matched by textured stone floors and glass flush with the exterior walls. The smooth texture of the glass contrasts with the walls, while reflecting the surrounding scenery, making the building seem to blend into nature.
Entering the house, the first thing that comes into view is the corner window of the living room and dining room. This 5×10 meter cantilever design closely connects the indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing residents to fully enjoy the beautiful outdoor scenery. The kitchen is located in the same space as the dining room and living room, and some of them can be flexibly separated by sliding partitions, which increases the efficiency of space use. As an important element connecting different areas, the corridor not only plays a role in transportation, but also cleverly captures the light and heat from the south and regulates the indoor temperature. At the same time, the openness of the corridor contrasts with the closedness of the bedroom, bringing different spatial feelings to the residents.
In terms of interior decoration, Ana Paula de Alba tailors a unique design for each house to meet the needs of different families. The color matching of the interior is simple and natural, with light gray as the main color, which is coordinated with the exterior of the building and further emphasizes the theme of nature. In addition, the interior also makes full use of natural elements such as stones and trees, so that residents can also feel the breath of nature indoors.
The interior and exterior decoration design of the Las Rocas residential project fully reflects the harmonious coexistence of nature and architecture. Through clever layout, reasonable material selection and careful detail processing, the designers have created a living space that is both comfortable and closely connected to the natural environment, providing people with a unique living experience.
