Warm Congratulations: Wendy Tang has been admitted to the University of Washington, Seattle, ranked #7 best global university by US News. Excitingly, Wendy Tang will be joining the American NCAA Division I sports team as an athlete, having been awarded a 4-year full scholarship! On top of receiving Cognia certification, WuYuan XieHe has also successfully passed the American NCAA certification this year, providing even better support for students like Wendy Tang, who excel academically and have a talent for sports, in their applications to prestigious American universities.

当我刚刚踏入协和万源小学三年级的时候，眼前的一切都是那么陌生而又充满新奇。作为一名从体制内学校转学过来的学生，我从未在一天之内如此密集地接触英语——外教阅读课、朗文英语课、英语角……起初，我感到有些应接不暇，甚至有些迷茫。然而，凭借着自身的适应能力，还有老师们细致入微又循循善诱的讲解与教导，我迅速调整状态，将英语成绩从班级倒数提升至中上游水平。岁月如梭，转眼间，我来万源协和已经十年，不仅成功获得了华盛顿大学的录取通知书，还以全额奖学金的身份加入了NCAA Division I 高尔夫球队，为自己的成长之路画上了浓墨重彩的一笔。

Everything was unfamiliar and new when I first transferred to SUIS Wanyuan in third grade. Coming from the traditional school system, I’d never been exposed to so much English in a single day—Foreign teacher - led English reading sessions, Longman English classes, English Corners...It was overwhelming at first. However, I quickly adapted and improved my Englishfrom the bottom to mid-to-high levels in class. Fast forward to today, in my tenth year here, I am proud to have been admitted to the University of Washington with a full scholarship and as a member of their NCAA Division I golf team.

在八升九的转折点，我面临着第一个重大的选择：继续保持年级前五的校内成绩，备战中考，还是早早规划出国留学之路。经过与家人的深思熟虑。我们决定继续追随我多年来的梦想：学业和高尔夫并行，凭借特长申请美国大学。

At SUIS Wanyuan, my first major decision was in the transition from eighth to ninth grade: should I push forward in the top five of my class to take the high school entrance exam, or should I plan early to study abroad? My family and I discussed it together and decided to stay on the path I’d been following—balancing studies and golf, aiming for admission to an American university based on my strengths.

九年级是繁忙的一年：一方面，我要学习中考的内容，为九年义务教育画上完美的句号；另一方面，我要学习英语，备战多邻国考试和托福，为进入美高做好充分准备。同时，我还需要保持高尔夫的手感，不断精进球技。这样的生活虽然累，但也很充实！最终，不懈的努力让我收获颇丰——中考分数超过了市重点线，同时也进了上海高尔夫青少年队。

Ninth grade was a hectic year: I prepared for the high school entrance exam while gearing up for English proficiency tests like the Duolingo and TOEFL. Simultaneously, I honed my golf skills. Although exhausting, this balancing act proved rewarding: I not only surpassed the city’s critical school cutoff but also secured a spot on the Shanghai’s Junior Golf Team.

十年级时，在多种选择面前，我最终决定留在万源协和美高。不单单是因为万源美高课程选择多，灵活度高，可以根据自己的兴趣和未来发展方向自由选课，更是因为这里全英文外教授课，和对多元化文化的包容，使得我的英语水平与综合能力在每日交流中不断提升。在高尔夫和学术的双优之路上我离不开学校的支持。从个性化的课表，到比赛请假时对学业的跟进，再到NCAA资格认证，每一步学校都给予了大力支持。

In tenth grade, faced with multiple options, I ultimately chose to stay at SUIS Wanyuan High School. It wasn't just about the diverse course offerings and the flexibility to tailor my schedule based on my interests and future goals. What truly set Wanyuan apart was its immersive environment: all - English instruction by international teachers and a culture of inclusivity that embraced diversity. This environment not only sharpened my English skills but also strengthened my overall learning abilities through daily interactions. On my journey of excelling in both academics and golf, the school's support was indispensable. From personalized course schedules and competition leave policies to NCAA qualification/certification assistance, etc., every step was made easier.

我在万源的求学之路得到了老师们的全方位支持，让我能在兼顾比赛与学业的同时，享受到高中生涯的快乐。由于体育竞技需要比赛磨练，而国内的高尔夫比赛有时候还会遇到周中时间冲突，每当我怀着忐忑的心情和老师们商量课程进度及比赛日程的时候，总能得到老师们的无微不至的关怀与灵活的支持，赛后及时跟进作业，补考，答疑。高中这段时间作为学生运动员生活虽然忙碌，但我始终保持全A！特别感恩协和万源的全力校长，在我面临择校的关键时刻，与我和我的爸妈进行了多次的沟通后，制定了可行性的方案，为我踏上这个运动员申请海外大学的开辟道路提供了安心与信心！我在十年级下学期获得华盛顿大学口头录取后，立刻与校长分享了我的喜悦与收获，并激励自己：不要松懈，继续坚持学习与训练的节奏。

Since sports competitions require experience through matches, most golf tournaments in China take place on weekdays. After discussing this with the principal, I received strong support from the school, which granted me permission to take leave for tournaments. My teachers were equally supportive, helping me stay on track with assignments, makeup tests, and providing academic assistance. Life as a student-athlete of in high school was hectic but deeply rewarding. Despite receiving an oral offer in the latter half of tenth grade, I remained disciplined, maintaining my usual rhythm of studying and training. By the end of eleventh grade, I upheld a straight-A GPA.

高尔夫进入我的生活是通过四年级万源开设的特色课程。从一开始的塑料假杆，并没有想到未来会坚持这项运动这么久。进入初中，我开始认真练习，每周技术课，体能课，下场......当时打得并不好，也不算喜欢，只知道每周固定的时间要去练球，像完成任务一样。爸妈看出了我的勉强，也劝说我放弃，但要强的我不愿意放弃，就这样坚持了下来

Golf entered my life through a special course offered by SUIS Wanyuan in fourth grade. From the very beginning with a plastic practice club, I never imagined I would stick with this sport for so long. When I entered middle school, I began to practice seriously, with weekly technique classes, physical training, and on-course practice... At that time, I wasn't playing well and didn't particularly enjoy it; I only knew that I had to practice at fixed times each week, like completing a task. My parents noticed my reluctance and encouraged me to give up, but my determined self didn't want to quit, so I persisted.

打球生涯中一个最大的转折点是在十年级下半学期。当时还有两个月就要赴美比赛，15岁的我倍感压力，在一场重要比赛中发挥失常，从而磨灭了本就不多的信心。那时的我，不仅要准备托福，又得进步球技，还要与自己心仪的大学试着建立联系。这场比赛使我脑中那根紧绷的线断裂了，我崩溃大哭，向爸妈表示自己不想打球了。爸妈觉得我放弃太过可惜，与我达成共识，让我快乐高尔夫，能进美国大学第三梯队（Division III）校队就好了，球技不够好就靠学术升学。在爸爸妈妈的开导下，我好像也没那么有压力了。

The most significant turning point in my golfing career came in the second half of tenth grade. Two months before a U.S. tournament, I, a 15-year-old, felt immense pressure and underperformed in an important match, which crushed my already limited confidence. At that time, I had to prepare for the TOEFL, improve my golf skills, and try to connect with my dream universities. That match broke the taut string in my mind, and I cried, telling my parents I didn’t want to play golf anymore. They felt it was a pity for me to give up and agreed with me to play golf for fun and aim for a division 3 school, relying on academics if my golf wasn’t strong enough. With their encouragement, I felt less pressured.

令我感到意外的是，我的高尔夫在我“开摆”没压力的心态下，向好的方向转变了。我在美国打了第一次负杆，也拿下了许多我去美国之前不敢奢望的奖。我赢了一场FCG比赛并在AJGA赛事中获前三，从而拿到了下一年的参赛全卡。我的球技也被各个教练认可，最终在十年级暑假就拿到了华盛顿大学的口头录取及奖学金。

Surprisingly, under this relaxed mindset, my golf started improving. I shot my first sub-par round in the U.S. and won awards I hadn’t dared to dream of before. I won an FCG tournament, placed in the top three in an AJGA event, and received a full season card for the following year. Several coaches recognized my skills, and ultimately, I received an oral offer and scholarship from the University of Washington by the summer of tenth grade.

2024的暑假，也就是刚刚过去的六月至八月再次在美国参赛，我做了更加充分的准备，也取得了更好的成绩，在参加的4场AJGA赛事中拿到了一场冠军和两场第四，也与教练确定了大学四年的全额奖学金。

This year, competing in the U.S. again, I was better prepared and achieved even better results. In the four AJGA events I entered, I won one and placed fourth in two, securing a full scholarship for my four years at the university.

万源协和十年的经历，从最初的好奇与迷茫，到如今的自信与成就，全面成长的每一步都离不开学校的悉心培养和家人的坚定支持。这里不仅培养了我的学术能力和运动才华，更学会了如何在压力中坚韧不拔，追求自己的梦想。万源协和多元化的教育环境和灵活的课程设置，为我提供了无限的可能性，使我能够在学术与体育之间找到平衡，实现双向发展。这段旅程让我深刻理解到，成长不仅是知识与技能的积累，更是心智与人格的升华。未来，我将怀揣在协和学到的坚韧与智慧，继续追寻更高的目标，实现更大的梦想。

Ten years at SUIS Wanyuan, from initial curiosity and confusion to present-day confidence and achievement, have been marked by comprehensive growth that would not have been possible without the school’s dedicated nurturing and my family’s unwavering support. Here, I not only developed my academic abilities and athletic talents, but also learned how to persevere under pressure and pursue my dreams. The diverse educational environment and flexible curriculum at SUIS Wanyuan provided endless possibilities, allowing me to balance academics and sports and achieve dual development. This journey has deeply taught me that growth combines the accumulation of knowledge and skills and the elevation of mind and character. In the future, I will carry the resilience and wisdom I gained at SUIS Wanyuan to continue striving for higher goals and realizing greater dreams.

我是看着Wendy长大的，一晃眼，她已经在万源度过了10年了，她的高尔夫之路也是从万源小学的兴趣班开始起步的，没想到她一路坚持下来，取得了如此优异的成绩，无论在特长方面还是学术方面，我想这也是万源的经历给她留下的宝贵财富吧，中西融合，两条腿走路。我很高兴，Wendy在挑战自己的过程中创下了很多纪录，并且让她在大学的时候能够继续学术与特长齐头并进，让她的未来多了无限可能。三年前和Wendy家庭的谈话到现在依然记忆犹新，在人生做出选择的重要关口，我们很幸运地共同做出了决定，把美高课程个性化的特点发挥到极致，针对她的学习要求创造她专属的日程，保证学习与特长两不误。事实证明这是完全可行的。未来的道路还很长，衷心希望Wendy到了美国以后，把自主、专注、坚韧的品质继续发扬，去追求更大的梦想，学校以你为荣，成为万源学子的典范。

I have witnessed the whole progress of how Wendy has grown up from a primary student to a teenager. It seems all happened in a blink of eyes after which she has spent 10 years at SUIS Wanyuan campus. Her journey of Golf was started from the SUIS Wanyuan Primary School ECA. Wendy has been persisting all the way and achieved such excellent results which was out of initial expectations. Whether in terms of strengths or academic aspects, I think this is also a valuable asset from the learning journey at SUIS Wanyuan where the best elements and advantages of Chinese and Western cultures and curricula has been combined and developed well to provide the possibilities for each child to achieve more opportunities in University applications. I am glad that Wendy has broken many records in the process of challenging herself, and has allowed her to continue to excel academically and in college, adding infinite possibilities to her future. The conversation with Wendy's family members three years ago was still vivid in my memories. At a crucial moment in life, we were fortunate enough to make a decision together to maximize the personalized characteristics of the American high school curriculum. We created a personalized schedule tailored to her learning requirements and needs, ensuring that her learning and strengths were balanced. The fact proves that this is completely feasible. The road ahead is still long, and I sincerely hope that after Wendy starts her new journey at the United States, she will continue to promote her qualities of independence, focusing, perseverance, and pursue greater dreams of her own world.
