Guiding Theory
Ladies and gentlemen,
It's my great honor to present my teaching ideas here.
As you can see, the following five parts will be covered in my presentation.
Now, let's start from the very beginning.
Based on the New English Curriculum Standard, the core competencies of the English subject, 🌟a few age-appropriate learning activities, and Bloom's Taxonomy of learning, are the teaching theories guiding me forward.
General Introduction
As for the teaching material, it comes from the New Standard English textbook.
After analyzing the whole module with 🌟the Structure Overview Organizer, we can clearly see that 🌟大观念the big idea is to talk about the training experience and the sports spirit.
What we are talking about is the first period of reading in Unit 2, which is about the training experience.
This lesson focuses on "man and himself" as well as "man and society."
As a reading and writing class, it helps students to know how to share their training experience, using "how to train" as the overarching theme总体主题 and different feelings as the subtopics副主题
It helps students to notice the importance of training hard and never giving up.
Here we come to the analysis of students with the SWOT model.
We can know the Grade 8 students very well—🌟being active and eager are their strengths, but they have loose and inadequate expressions.
They have the opportunities to get to know how to express their opinions on sports, and hopefully, they can foster logical and critical thinking.
Based on the teaching material and the students, learning objectives can be designed as follows:
By the end of the class, students are expected to summarize the information, compare different feelings, express their opinions, and notice the importance of training hard.
🌟 结合教学目标指出教学重、难点Among these, Nos. 1 and 2 are learning focuses, and No. 3 is the learning difficulty.
To achieve these learning objectives, teaching approaches such as 🌟逆向设计理论backward design, communicative approach, and task-based approach,
and teaching aids like a projector, blackboard, and learning sheets are needed.
Throughout the class, self-evaluation, peer evaluation, and teacher's evaluation are adopted to evaluate students from all around perspectives.
All of this is considered here as we come to the analysis of 🌟backward design:
First, identify the designed results, which is to talk about their training experience;
second, determine acceptable evidence, which could be summarized as the checklist;
lastly, design learning activities.
To explore the thematic meaning, these activities are designed and supported by the discourse, reflect cognitive levels, and are designed to achieve learning objectives step by step.
Teaching
Procedures
Now, let's take a closer look at the teaching procedures.
First, I will lead in the topic by watching the video and free talk to activate students' background information, in order to lower the difficulty of reading.
Viewing and predicting are necessary.
不得不说!说课中General Introduction这一部分简直可以相互借鉴,而且借鉴率太高了吧,你们看出来这源自哪一篇说课吗😂
While reading, students will first read and check their answers to get the main idea and the structure of the passage.
Then, they will get more detailed information by filling out a graphic organizer.
This may help with better understanding by comparing different feelings.
Students will try to explore the thematic meaning,
and most critically, they will also infer whether the team will win to develop their thinking abilities.
Then they will work in groups and do the interview to consolidate what they have learned.
After input and intake, students are prepared for output.
They will work with their partners and talk about their training experience, which will connect the passage with their real-life experience.
Obviously, the analysis of the checklist is of great help for students to evaluate their own performance as well as others.
The last discussion about what they can learn from the passage will help them cultivate their emotional attitudes and sublimate the theme.
Homework & Blackboard
With the completion of all activities, homework will also be presented very carefully 🌟作业设计意图for students of different levels to apply and transfer knowledge learned in class and stimulate their creativity and interest in related topics.
As for the🌟 blackboard design, it consists of three parts: new words, checklist, and the topic. 板书的确是本课的亮点
It's not only co-constructed by the teacher and students in practical teaching but also highlights what we have learned and visualizes the theme.
Features of My Design
Lastly, I'd love to share the features of my design:
First, the analysis of the text from multiple perspectives, including horizontal and vertical relations.
Second, the graphic organizers through activities will help students to better understand the key information.
Lastly, the Activity Chain on cognitive levels will help students to achieve their learning objectives step by step.
As a teacher, I believe my job is not only teaching but also learning.
🌟涨知识啊!When we see the word "teach" from another side, it turns into "learn".
Just like 🌟William Butler Yeats said, "Education is not the filling of the pail, but the lighting of the fire."
So I do believe what we should do is to inspire students to learn and then guide them to foster multiple competencies required for a higher platform, for a better future, and for the realization of themselves and for our country. 现在好多说课都会在最后引经据典、介绍自己的教学理念,体现教学境界与高度
