基本理念

  • That's all for my teaching presentation. And now please allow me to elaborate on my teaching, the reading teaching based on 🌟competence orientation and task-based approach.

  • There are 8 parts, and I'd like to start with a basic theory.

  • According to the compulsory education English curriculum standards issued last year, 🌟students need to carry out real tasks in real situations.

  • Therefore, I summarize some key aspects.

  • There are clear goals and tasks, activities, and so on, and knowledge association and thinking, internalization and communication.

  • And the last part is about ability and values.

  • And I think there are some basic stages.

  1. In the first stage of understanding, students need to associate their schema with the text information and process some key information.

  2. While in the second one, teachers should guide students to think by using different levels of questions.

  3. And in the third one, they are supposed to explore more, to create more.

  • Therefore, I summarize 🌟four basic steps.

  • They are 本课的4环节stimulating, processing, thinking, and exploring.

教材解析

  • This passage is from Module 5, from New Standard 8A. And this is the framework of the whole module.

  • After Unit 1, 2, and 3, students are supposed to finish 产出任务a cultural heritage 🌟project.

  • And this is my class today.

  • It is about Tea House, Lao She. And Lao She, Tea House.

  • The writer follows when, where, who, what, and the time 🌟order to describe these three aspects.

  • And the writer also wants to allow students awareness of inheriting and spreading Chinese culture.

  • Try to ask students to tell our Chinese stories by using English.

学情分析

  • Before this class, my students have some basic understanding about Lao She. However, the knowledge about him is very limited.

  • So I ask them to discuss and to process some key information.

  • And besides, my students have learned the simple past tense, but sometimes they may forget to use them.

  • So I ask them to carry out cooperative study.

教学目标

  • And there are three levels of 🌟learning objectives.

  1. In Level 1, my students are supposed to gain some basic information by using visual tools.

  2. In Level 2, they are expected to analyze the features of the people's artists and try to introduce these three aspects.

  3. While in Level 3, they are going to try to learn more about the development of Lao She Tea House and share the actions they can take and introduce a new writer and his works.

教法与学法

  • Speaking of teaching strategies guided by the English activity-based approach, I applied the PWP approach as a practical method in this lesson.

教学重难点

  • And it might be a little difficult for my students to introduce Lu Xun and some related information.

  • So I ask them to carry out cooperative study and evaluation activities to help learning.

过程设计

  • Now let's come to the learning procedure.

  • The first stage, 🌟stimulating. In order to arouse their interest and activate schema, I will ask them what they have known about Lao She.

  • So they will be very clear about the information gap and the task today.

  • And it can also practice their intelligibility, such as communication and expression.

  • After that, it's the second stage, 🌟processing.

  • Students will observe the picture, share what they can learn from this picture, and read the passage for the first time. Match your headings with the paragraphs.

  • Those activities can help them to perceive the whole language material.

  • And it can also help them to know more about the non-verbal materials.

  • After that, they will read carefully paragraph 1 and 2, learn more about Tea House and Laoshe, process and extract some key information.

  • Then it's the third stage about 🌟thinking.

  • The reason why I applied double-sided arrow here is that according to the standards, understanding activities and application activities can be done in one goal or multiple cycles.

  • Therefore, I ask them to analyze the common features of the people's artists.

  • It can help my students to inspire the deep meaning of the passage, and their core competencies can be improved, such as analysis and induction.

  • Furthermore, my students will continue reading paragraph 3 and I will also provide some pictures about activities at Lao She Tea House.

  • Those activities can help my students to realize the relation among language, culture, and thinking.

  • And besides, those core competencies can be advanced.

  • Up to now, 🌟the first learning objective has been achieved.

  • Later, students will focus on the last sentence of paragraph 3, try to explore the writer's intention.

  • They will watch a video about an excellent example of introduction and try to take actions to introduce something about Lao She.

  • It is time for them to internalize the key language and the content.

  • And until now, 🌟the second learning objective has been achieved.

  • After that, it's the fourth stage about 🌟exploring.

  • As you can see, the information about Lao She Tea House is very limited in this passage.

  • And my students are very interested and curious about that.

  • So I download some passages from the website of Lao She Tea House and I also provide some background information about that.

  • It is a perfect time for my students to have a deeper understanding about Lao She Tea House.

  • It's a student-centered activity and it can also help them to explore the values and thematic meaning of this passage.

  • This is the output.

  • Students will use what they have learned today to finish the task in this part.

  • And until now, 🌟the third learning objective has been achieved.

  • And the last part is about homework.

  • In my opinion, finishing homework is another chance to integrate and consolidate what students have learned today.

  • And they can use English to do something, enjoy the play "Tea House" in their daily life.

教学反思

  • In my personal opinion, there are some highlights.

  • The first one is the cultivation of cultural awareness.

  • As you can see, I ask my students to discuss something about the people's artists, then try to know the examples of spreading our Chinese culture.

  • Talk about actions we can do and take action to introduce Lao She and Lu Xun and make a vlog to consolidate what they have learned in this class.

  • The second is the cultivation of learning ability.

  • According to the standards, teachers should try to make the best of material resources.

  • And as you can see, I download some paragraphs from the website of Lao She Tea House, and I show them some pictures from the website and also show them some pictures about the activities we can do at Lao She Tea House.

  • The third one is the integration of teaching, learning, and evaluation.

  • I did pay attention to that while I was making the teaching plan.

  • Teaching, learning, and evaluation. And it also runs through my whole lesson.

  • According to the standards, there are 🌟four evaluations, and I will focus on the first one, class evaluation.

  • As you can see, I use my words, my facial expressions, my body language, and some charts to help evaluation.

  • For example, "You react so quickly." "Okay," and "Excellent." "Well done." "You have made some progress." "I'm so happy for you."

  • And so on. Maybe my thumb up, my smile, and some detailed or brief charts.

  • And all my charts are in the color purple. My students are very familiar with the purple charts.

  • At the same time, I also encourage them to do self or peer evaluation to help learning and my teaching.

  • However, if we had more time to carry out activities about different writers and their works, they might have been more active in this class.

  • And this is my blackboard design.
