About this Issue
Australia, a vast land abundant with traditional medicinal treasures, has seen indigenous peoples, including the Māori, utilizing natural therapies such as spiritual healing and herbal treatments, creating a traditional medical system enriched with unique local features. Since the 19th century, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been introduced into Australia with the arrival of Chinese migrant workers. After overcoming various adversities, TCM achieved national legislative recognition in Australia in 2012, affirming its legal status. At present, despite a fairly high degree of attention and acceptance of TCM within Australian society, TCM still faces diversified challenges in its development status, occupational education, and other fields in Australia. In response, Chinese Medicine and Culture (CMC) launches a special issue titled "Traditional Chinese Medicine in Australia". The special issue seeks to showcase the latest and most valuable academic research regarding the dissemination, scientific research, education, local characteristics of TCM in Australia, as well as its interactions and exchanges with local indigenous traditional medicine. The special issue is expected to stimulate further thoughts and discussions on the globalization and local integration of TCM.
