2024年度约翰·莫尔绘画奖（中国）征稿即将截稿！约翰·莫尔绘画奖创办于 1957 年，每两年举办一届，迄今已连续举办 32 届，约翰·莫尔绘画奖是利物浦双年展(Liverpool Biennial)的重要组成部分。自1957年创立以来，约翰·莫尔绘画奖已见证了无数杰出艺术家的成长与辉煌，包括大卫·霍克尼、彼德·多依格，理查德·汉密尔顿等国际知名画家。这一源自英国利物浦、拥有近七十年辉煌历史的艺术盛事， 以作品的品质说话，以匿名的方式评选。比赛秉持着公平、 公正、公开的大赛宗旨，坚持国际化评选标准，提供国际文化交流舞台。随着全球化的深入发展，约翰·莫尔绘画奖于2010年成功拓展至中国，至2022年已成功举办七届，吸引了来自中国各地数以万计的投稿作品。

To the contemporary artists working across China, pay attention! The 8th John Moores Painting Prize was established in 1957 and has been held every two years for the past 32 consecutive years. The John Moores Painting Prize is an important part of the Liverpool Biennial. 

Since its establishment in 1957, the John Moores Painting Prize has witnessed the growth and brilliance of numerous outstanding artists, including internationally renowned painters such as David Hockney, Peter Doig, Richard Hamilton, and others. This art event, originating from Liverpool in the UK and boasting a history of nearly 70 years, is renowned for its high-quality works. It only accepts anonymous submissions from authors. 

The competition upholds the principles of fairness, impartiality and openness, adheres to international selection standards, and provides an arena for international cultural exchange.

本次聚焦上海有幸采访到曾任利物浦泰特美术馆展览部主任、现任第八届约翰·莫尔绘画奖（中国）评委的西蒙·格罗姆博士。在谈及约翰·莫尔绘画奖在中国的发展时，他说：“中国的绘画艺术具有深厚的底蕴和广阔的器量。即使艺术家们现在可能不专注于传统绘画，但绘画的精神和技巧已经深深融入了他们的创作实践中，无论是电影、雕塑还是其他艺术形式，都能感受到绘画的印记。因此，约翰·莫尔绘画奖能来到中国，无疑是一件令人兴奋的事情，它将为我们发掘更多伟大的艺术家。” 

This time, we are honored to interview Dr. Simon Groom, who was formerly the director of the exhibition department at the Tate Gallery in Liverpool and is currently a judge for the 8th John Moores Painting Prize in China. When talking about the development of the John Moores Painting Prize in China, he said, "Chinese painting art has profound heritage and broad capacity. Even though artists may not focus on traditional painting now, the spirit and techniques of painting have been deeply integrated into their creative practice. Whether it is film, sculpture or other art forms, we can feel the imprint of painting. 

Therefore, it is undoubtedly exciting that the John Moores Painting Prize can come to China, which will help us discover more great artists."

特别值得一提的是，本届新增的当代水墨奖，作为文化交流的一种新尝试，旨在探讨如何在当今中西文化交融的背景下，把中国传统水墨艺术引向世界。

It is particularly worth mentioning that the newly added Contemporary Ink Painting Prize aims to explore how to introduce traditional Chinese ink painting art to the world in today's context of cultural exchange between China and the West.

在中国，约翰·莫尔绘画奖（中国）秉承英国约翰·莫尔绘画大奖的运作理念与机制，大赛评委会由3位英国评委和2位中国评委组成，独立进行评选。每届约翰·莫尔绘画奖（中国）评选出一名一等奖和四名优秀奖，今年还特别增设了一名当代水墨奖。

In China, the organization and evaluation structure of the British John Moores Painting Prize.  The competition jury is composed of three British judges and two Chinese judges who independently conduct the selection process. Each year, one first prize and four outstanding awards are selected in China for the John Moores Painting Prize, and this year, a contemporary ink painting prize has been added.

Dr. Simon Groom said, "The John Moores Painting Prize has been around for over half a century. It is not only a cradle for British painting talents but also a vane for global painting arts. The greatness of this prize lies in its exhibition of a wide array of painting styles, while also leading us to explore the forefront of painting arts."

For China, the hosting of the John Moores Painting Prize (China) signifies that more artists will have opportunities to showcase their talents, and more painting styles will be discovered and presented. This will further propel the innovation and development of Chinese painting arts and enhance the influence of Chinese artists on the international stage. At the same time, this prize will also serve as a bridge for artistic exchanges between China and the world, fostering cultural fusion and collision.
