2024年,恰逢中法建交60周年的里程碑时刻,同时也是中法文化旅游年的璀璨盛事,这一历史性的交汇点迎来了第三届苏州金鸡湖中法文化艺术周的华丽启幕。在这一充满文化交融与艺术碰撞的年度庆典中,苏州工业园区公共文化中心荣幸地邀请到了两位杰出的艺术家——中国艺术家姜丹丹与法国艺术家魏明德,他们于2024年10月20日携手呈现一场别开生面的艺术盛宴:“生生之道——中法艺术家对话展”。


In 2024, marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the grand celebration of the China-France Cultural Tourism Year, the third Suzhou Jinji Lake China-France Cultural and Art Week has commenced at this historic juncture of cultural exchange. 

As part of this annual festival of cultural fusion and artistic interaction, the Suzhou Industrial Park Public Culture Center is honored to invite two outstanding artists—Chinese artist Jiang Dandan and French artist Philippe Favier—to present a unique art exhibition on October 20th, 2024: “NATURA NATURAN”.

此次展览精心策划,汇聚了四十余幅跨越东西、融合古今的精品力作,它们不仅是视觉的享受,更是心灵的触动。从东方意蕴深厚的水墨山水,到西方风情浓郁的油画山水,每一幅作品都仿佛架起了一座桥梁,连接着塞纳河畔的浪漫风情与金鸡湖畔的温婉雅致,引领观众穿梭于中法两国独特的艺术语境之间,开启一场关于艺术真谛、哲学沉思与生命奥秘的深刻对话。


This carefully curated exhibition brings together over 40 exquisite masterpieces that bridge the East and the West, merging the past and present. These works not only offer a visual feast but also a profound emotional experience. 

From ink wash landscapes embodying the deep essence of Eastern art to oil paintings rich with Western charm, each artwork builds a bridge connecting the romantic ambiance of the Seine River with the graceful elegance of Jinji Lake. 

The exhibition guides viewers through the unique artistic contexts of China and France, opening a deep dialogue on the essence of art, philosophical reflection, and the mysteries of life.

“生”,这一字眼,蕴含着生命、生存、生活等多重丰富而深刻的内涵,而“生生之道”则源自中国古典哲学巨著《易传·系辞上》中的“生生之谓易”,它不仅是中国哲学探讨的核心议题之一,也象征着宇宙万物生生不息、连绵不绝的哲理。此次展览的主题“生生之道”(NATURA NATURANS),在法语中同样寓意着自然之自然,生命之生命的本质探索,通过艺术这一独特而敏锐的棱镜,深刻反映了人类对生命连续与更新、生命多样性与共生共荣的深刻思考。


The character "生" (Sheng), meaning life, existence, and living, carries multiple layers of rich and profound meaning. "The Way of Life" (Natura Naturans) originates from the classical Chinese philosophical text The Commentary of the Book of Changes, where "生生之谓易" expresses the endless and ceaseless nature of life. This concept is one of the core topics in Chinese philosophy and symbolizes the continuity and interdependence of all things in the universe.

The exhibition's theme “NATURA NATURANS” also resonates in French with the idea of Natura Naturans, representing an exploration of the essence of nature and life. Through the unique and insightful lens of art, it reflects profound thoughts on the continuity and renewal of life, the diversity of life, and harmonious coexistence.

展览中,作品的主题与风格多样,既有细腻入微、捕捉一花一木、鱼虫微尘生命韵律的精致小品,也有壮阔宏大、描绘宇宙星辰浩瀚无垠的宏伟巨制。它们共同编织出一幅幅生动而深邃的生命画卷,揭示了万物在生命之网中彼此依存、和谐共生的壮丽诗篇。这不仅是一场视觉艺术的享受,更是一次心灵的洗礼,让观众在欣赏艺术之美的同时,也能深刻体会到生命之宝贵、自然之奇妙以及东西方文化交汇的独特魅力。


The exhibition features works with diverse themes and styles, from delicate and intricate pieces capturing the rhythm of life in the smallest details of flowers, insects, and dust, to grand and majestic creations depicting the vastness of the cosmos. Together, they weave a vivid and profound tapestry of life, revealing the magnificent symphony of interdependence and harmonious coexistence in the web of life. 

This exhibition is not only a visual delight but also a spiritual journey, offering viewers the chance to appreciate the beauty of art while deeply contemplating the preciousness of life, the wonders of nature, and the unique charm of East-West cultural exchange.

10月20日下午展览开幕前期举办“生命、自然、艺术:中法跨文化对话学术论坛”。论坛由金鸡湖美术馆展览策划部负责人,“生生之道-中法艺术家对话展”策展人吴燕主持;同济大学人文学院教授、博导张生作为学术主持,上海交通大学人文学院美学博导,沈阳鲁迅美术学院实验艺术系特聘教授,参展艺术家姜丹丹、上海复旦大学哲学学院宗教学系教授、博导参展艺术家魏明德、Big House当代艺术中心馆长、广州当代艺术博览会艺术总监、中法当代艺术与设计研究院院长国际艺术评论奖理事艾海、上海油画雕塑院美术馆馆长傅军、杭州光达美术馆副馆长、杭州师范大学美术学院理论教研室主任黄华侨、(上海)法国EAC艺术文化管理学院硕导、第九届上海青年艺术博览会学术策展人黄壹、上海招商商管文化艺术总监知名策展人李耀、新华发行集团董事李爽、国际艺术评论奖理事、约翰莫尔绘画奖基金会理事凌敏、华东师范大学艺术研究院院长、华东师范大学美术学院教授、博导张晶、苏州大学博物馆荣誉馆长张朋川参与讨论。

On the afternoon of October 20th, the "Life, Nature, Art: Sino-French Cross-Cultural Academic Forum" was held  before the exhibition opening. The forum was hosted by Wu Yan, head of the exhibition department of Jinji Lake Art Museum and also the curator of this exhibition; Zhang Sheng, a professor and a Ph.D supervisor at the School of Humanities, Tongji University, served as the academic host. Participants in the discussion included:

  • Dandan Jiang, artist, a Ph.D supervisor of aesthetics at the School of Humanities, Shanghai Jiaotong University, and a distinguished professor at the Department of Experimental Art, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, Shenyang;
  • Benoît Vermander, artist, a professor in the Faculty of Philosophy at Fudan University;
  • Ai Hai, the director of Big House Contemporary Art Center, the artistic director of Guangzhou Contemporary Art Fair;


  • Fu Jun, the director of the Shanghai Oil Painting and Sculpture Institute Art Museum;


  • Huang Huaqiao, the deputy director of Hangzhou Guangda Art Museum and the director of the Theory Teaching and Research Office at the School of Fine Arts, Hangzhou Normal University;


  • Huang Yi, a master's supervisor at the French EAC School of Cultural Management in Shanghai;


  • Li Yao, the director of cultural arts at Shanghai Merchants Commercial Management;


  • Li Shuang, a director of Xinhua Distribution Group;


  • Ling Min, a member of the International Art Critics Award Board and a director of the John Moores Painting Award Foundation;


  • Zhang Jing, the dean of the School of Art Studies at East China Normal University and a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Fine Arts, East China Normal University;


  • Zhang Pengchuan, the honorary director of Soochow University Museum.



姜丹丹,本次展览的中国艺术家,在过去的十几年中,她以跨文化、跨领域的方式在中法(中欧)之间工作,游走在哲学美学的研究与艺术实践之间,这些积淀,也让她在沉潜与游艺,在行动与创作之间,以独特的方式,在吸收中国古典写意、山水精神的同时,通过当代抽象实验的转化,给出了、开显出了转译、改写古典的别有新意的创作。

姜丹丹的作品让人感受到她以敞开的状态,倾听世界的万有现象中的“寂静之音”,在与大写的他者的相遇中,探索如何直达本质的抽象实验的生成之路。她的思索与创作相交融,在自然而然的过程中,把握在消融、去掉固有形式与余下的痕迹之间的潜能生成的可能性,重新生成在无意与有意之间的某种气氛的美学。


Jiang Dandan has worked between China and France in cross-cultural and interdisciplinary fields for the past ten years, moving from the research of philosophy and aesthetics to producing art itself. These accumulated experiences have also enabled her to absorb the spirit of classical Chinese freehand brushwork and landscape painting in a novel and intriguing manner. Through bold and contemporary abstract experiments, the artist has revealed a new interpretation of the classics which is sure to draw considerable interest.

Jiang Dandan's works gives a clear impression that she listens to the "silent voice" of the world's phenomena with an open mind, and explores the road of abstract experiments that reaches it’s essence in the encounter with the capitalized other. Her thinking and creation blend, in a natural process, to grasp the possibility of potential generation in melting, removing the inherent form and remaining traces, to regenerate a certain relationship between unintentional and intentional aesthetics.

她深深地懂得,真正的生命修习,绝对不只是在淡泊宁静中的冥思苦想,也需要在具体的实践之中,从成为有行动力到转化为有创造性的主体,乃至于在多重的维度上从迈出到返归、从返归到重新绽出,在虚心向内的创作(绘画、书写)过程中,通过一点点的细微而大胆的实验,挑战固定形成的思维、逻辑与技法,也超越在这个过程中 不免会遇到的困难,从而在每一次构成新的诞生的作品中,与材料、生命深层的潜在性相遇,实现一次次新的转化。这样持续的探索,给予个体在虚静之中的绽出,给予在幽暗之中的疗愈,在创造历险中的深入体验,个体的创造性体验,也汇通到在与同时代人们的一些提问与思考、实验与探讨的脉络中:如何在当代与世界的对话中做有特质风格的本土(抽象)艺术、如何以实验的方式在返归传统中,重新生成文化与艺术的身份。

She deeply understands that the real practice of life is definitely not only in the quiet meditation, but also in the concrete practice, from becoming active to transforming into a creative subject, and even from stepping out to returning, from returning to re-emerging in multiple dimensions, in the process of modestly inward creation (painting, writing). Through a little bit of subtle and bold experiments, it challenges the fixed thinking, logic and techniques, and surpasses the inevitable difficulties encountered in this process, so as to meet the deep potential of materials and life in every work that constitutes a new birth, and realize a new transformation. 

Such continuous exploration gives individuals the emergence in the emptiness, the healing in the darkness, the in-depth experience in the creation of adventures, and the creative experience of individuals, and also leads to some questions and thoughts, experiments and discussions with contemporaries: How to make local (abstract) art with idiosyncrasies in the dialogue between contemporary and the world, and how to recreate the identity of culture and art in an experimental way by returning to tradition.

参展艺术家 魏明德 在论坛发言


魏明德,一位兼具学者与艺术家身份的法国人士,自2009年起,在复旦大学哲学学院担任宗教学教授及博导,并兼任利徐学社主任。在学术领域,他深耕中国地方宗教、凉山彝族的社会与宗教变迁,以及全球化进程中的精神与文化影响等课题,同时致力于中国经典的重释与传播。魏明德教授在学术界极为活跃,已出版或编辑了三十余部著作,发表了超过两百篇学术论文,其学术成果以中文、英文、法文、意大利文、西班牙文和德文等多种语言在各类期刊上广泛发表。此外,他还执导了四部民族学纪录片,并在旧金山罗耀拉马利蒙特大学及巴黎高师等高等学府担任特邀研究员及教授,持续推动中西文明间的交流与对话。


在艺术创作方面,魏明德以“笨笃”为笔名,钟情于绘画与诗歌,尤其对中国画有着深厚的感情。中国传统艺术成为了他创作的不竭源泉与灵感所在。笨笃在上海、巴黎等地多次举办个人画展,其作品自1995年起便在中国美术馆、四川美术馆、旧金山大学、辅仁大学、斯特拉斯堡欧洲议院、上海徐汇博物馆、上海红太阳与OPEN SPACE画廊、法国朗斯市ANCIENNE BANQUE DE FRANCE、上海/巴黎之禾艺术空间等地展出,广受赞誉。



Benoît Vermander, a French scholar and artist, has served as a professor of religious studies and PhD supervisor at the School of Philosophy, Fudan University, since 2009. He is also the director of the Xu-Ricci Dialogue Institute. 

In the academic field, he has focused on topics such as local Chinese religions, the social and religious transformation of the Yi people in Liangshan, and the spiritual and cultural impacts of globalization. Vermander is also dedicated to the reinterpretation and dissemination of classical Chinese texts. He is highly active in academic circles, having published or edited more than thirty books and over 200 academic papers in various languages including Chinese, English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German. 

In addition, he has directed four ethnographic documentaries and has been a guest researcher and professor at institutions such as Loyola Marymount University in San Francisco and the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, continuing to promote exchanges and dialogue between Chinese and Western civilizations.

In the realm of artistic creation, Vermander uses the pen name "Benoî" and is passionate about painting and poetry, with a deep affection for Chinese painting in particular. Traditional Chinese art has become a source of endless inspiration for his work. 

Benoî has held solo exhibitions in Shanghai, Paris, and other cities, and his works have been widely exhibited since 1995 at venues including the National Art Museum of China, Sichuan Fine Arts Museum, University of San Francisco, Fu Jen Catholic University, European Parliament in Strasbourg, Xuhui Museum in Shanghai, Red Sun Gallery and OPEN SPACE Gallery in Shanghai, ANCIENNE BANQUE DE FRANCE in Lens, and Hehe Art Space in Shanghai and Paris, earning widespread acclaim.


除了学者身份外,魏明德还是一位积极推动文化交流的人士。他创立的“笨笃中法艺术交流工作室”,旨在促进中法两国青年艺术家与学者在艺术与学术领域的交流与合作,为中法高校间的艺术合作搭建桥梁。


In addition to his scholarly pursuits, Vermander is a proactive advocate for cultural exchange. He founded the "Benoî Sino-French Art Exchange Studio," which aims to foster exchanges and collaboration between young Chinese and French artists and scholars in the fields of art and academia, building bridges for artistic cooperation between Chinese and French universities.

Benoît VERMANDER 魏明德,现任上海复旦大学哲学学院宗教学系教授、博士生导师。“笨笃”是魏明德从事艺文创作时用的笔名。自1995年起,他的作品在中国美术馆、四川美术馆、旧金山大学、辅仁大学、斯特拉斯堡欧洲议院、上海徐汇博物馆、上海红太阳与OPEN SPACE画廊、法国朗斯市ANCIENNE BANQUE DE FRANCE、上海/巴黎之禾艺术空间、复旦大学等地展出。


Benoît VERMANDER (Wei Mingde) is currently a professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the School of Philosophy, Fudan University, Shanghai, and a PhD supervisor. "Benoî" is the pen name he uses for his artistic and literary creations. 


Since 1995, his works have been exhibited at various venues including the National Art Museum of China, Sichuan Fine Arts Museum, University of San Francisco, Fu Jen Catholic University, European Parliament in Strasbourg, Xuhui Museum in Shanghai, Red Sun Gallery and OPEN SPACE Gallery in Shanghai, ANCIENNE BANQUE DE FRANCE in Lens, France, Hehe Art Space in Shanghai and Paris, and Fudan University.

Jiang Dandan has participated in group exhibitions at various art institutions both domestically and internationally, including Kommunale Galerie Berlin in Germany, the Grand Palais in France, Etienne de Causans Gallery in France, Nara Crafts Museum in Japan, Cheongju National Art Center in South Korea, China Art Museum in Shanghai, Ningbo Art Museum, Sichuan Public Art Education Center, Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts Museum, Shanghai Sea Culture Center, Shanghai Young Art Museum, Shanghai Su Space, and Suzhou You Nan Art Museum. 


She has also held solo exhibitions at Gallerie Espace des femmes in France, the Maison de la Heine Foundation in Paris, ODRADEK Gallery in Brussels, Belgium, and the Kenda Art Museum in Suzhou. Additionally, she has been an artist-in-residence at institutions such as the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, ODRADEK Art Center in Belgium, Shangyuan Art Museum in Beijing, and the Beijing World Garden Expo.
