三大艺博会落幕,上海艺术进行时 Shanghai Art Week Draws The World’s Attention!

上海艺术周作为全球艺术市场的“上海时间”,在2024年11月初旬再次证明了上海作为国际艺术品交易中心的重要地位。三大艺博会相继落幕,上海艺术依然进行时,PSA、龙美术馆等艺术机构也紧随其后推出各大展览,精彩纷呈。


The Shanghai Art Week, serving as a calling card for the "Shanghai Moment" in the global art market, once again proved our city’s pivotal role as an international art trading center in early November 2024. 


To great excitement and expectation three major art fairs were successively held, and art institutions such as the Power Station of Art (PSA) and Long Museum have followed closely with a series of exhibitions, each presenting an impressive array of the highest quality art.

第十二届ART021上海廿一当代艺术博览会在上海展览中心举办,ART021艺博会汇聚了来自20个国家及地区、43个城市的129家参展画廊与项目,其中不乏国际蓝筹画廊和亚洲及中国本土画廊的身影。这种国际与本土的深度融合,不仅展现了ART021的全球视野,也凸显了其“立足本土,放眼全球”的宗旨。ART021已成为上海乃至中国与全球当代艺术生态进行交流的主要平台之一,在保持专业水准的同时,开放包容,不断汇聚全球艺场的活跃能量。


The 12th edition of ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair was held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, bringing together 129 galleries and projects arriving from 43 cities across 20 countries and regions. 


Among them were prestigious international blue-chip galleries as well as Asian and Chinese galleries, showcasing a deep integration of international and local artistic forces. This fusion not only demonstrated ART021's global reach but also highlighted its mission of "being rooted in China while embracing the world." 


ART021 has become one of the primary platforms for Shanghai, and even China, to engage in exchanges with the global contemporary art community. While maintaining a high level of professionalism, it remains open and inclusive, continuously channeling the vibrant energy of the global art scene into this amazing event.

今年ART021亚洲及中国本土画廊在本届艺博会中占比超过50%,展现了中国艺术市场的实力和活力。香格纳画廊带来的余友涵大尺幅画作,以及蜂巢当代艺术中心释出的黄宇兴山水系列作品,都是中国艺术力量的代表。


This year, galleries from Asia and China account for more than 50% of the total participants, demonstrating the strength and vitality of the Chinese art market. 


The large-scale paintings by Yu Youhan presented by ShanghART Gallery, as well as the landscape series by Huang Yuxing released by Hive Center for Contemporary Art, are both representative of the striking visual power of contemporary Chinese art.

主画廊单元呈现了海内外一流画廊的现当代艺术精选,包括博物馆级别的重磅之作和成熟艺术家的代表性佳作。白立方画廊带来的韩国艺术家李镇雨和比利时艺术家布拉姆·博加特的双个展,以及卓纳画廊的群展,都是本届艺博会的亮点。


The main gallery section presented a curated selection of contemporary art from a range range of famous galleries, featuring museum-quality masterpieces and representative works by established artists. 


Highlights of this year’s event included the dual solo exhibitions by Korean artist Lee Jin Woo and Belgian artist Bram Bogart, brought by White Cube Gallery, as well as an exciting group exhibition by David Zwirner Gallery.



在现场还有新兴画廊的新鲜视角,来自长沙的谢画廊带来了鸟头的马赛克系列作品首次参展,打破了对摄影图像的传统观看方式。在APPROACH单元ART021汇集了来自9个国家的20家年轻画廊,其中超过半数为首次参展。这个单元鼓励呈现艺术家个人项目或独具匠心的策划群展,展现了艺术界的新鲜血液。


Another important aspect of the show were the fresh perspectives from emerging galleries. Contemporary Art Gallery from Changsha brought Birdhead's mosaic series for its first exhibition, breaking the traditional way of viewing photographic images. 


In the APPROACH section, ART021 gathered 20 young galleries from 9 countries, with more than half participating for the first time. This section encourages the presentation of individual artist projects or ingeniously curated group exhibitions, showcasing fresh blood from the global art world.



今年特别策划的FOUR CORNERS项目,由四家杰出画廊联合呈现,以“地理”要素为线索,展开对当代艺术的考察。这个项目不仅展示了不同文化背景下的艺术作品,也促进了跨地域的艺术交流。


DETOUR绕行单元时隔两年回归,以“亚洲及其侨民”为主题,探索亚洲及亚洲离散背景艺术家的批判性叙事与多样议题,为观众带来了全新的艺术体验。


This year's specially curated FOUR CORNERS project, jointly presented by four outstanding galleries, explored contemporary art with "geography" as the key element. This project not only showcases artistic works from different cultural backgrounds but also promotes cross-regional artistic exchanges. 


The DETOUR section returns after a two-year hiatus, themed "Asia And Its Diaspora," explored critical narratives and diverse topics by artists from Asia and those with Asian diaspora backgrounds, offering audiences a brand-new artistic experience from a variety of urgent voices.

BEYOND单元将展场延伸至馆外,与苏河皓司共同呈现艺术家王令尘Oscar Wang的全新作品《蓝途 Journey》,这件作品以模块化悬浮地板构建出精致的像素画效果,成为艺博会的一大亮点。


The BEYOND section extended the exhibition beyond the primary venue, collaborating with Skyline in HAUS to present artist Oscar Wang's new work "Blue Journey." This piece constructs a delicate pixelated effect using modular suspended flooring, becoming an outstanding highlight of 2024 ART 021.

2024 – 2025 保时捷“中国青年艺术家双年评选”入围的13 组青年艺术家:蔡坚、曹雨、冯至炫、胡佳艺、黄宝莹、黎佳仪、刘佳玉、马海蛟、佩恩恩、田翊、王恒、徐戈、音像故障小组也在Art021亮相。


In July 2024, the 13 young artists selected for the 2024-2025 Porsche "Young Chinese Artists of the Year" were announced. The selected artists were Cai Jian, Cao Yu, Feng Zhixuan, Hu Jiayi, Huang Baoying, Li Jiayi, Liu Jiayu, Ma Haijie, Pei En'en, Tian Yi, Wang Heng and Xu Ge. Additionally, the Audio-Visual Glitch Group also made an appearance at Art021.



本次群展以“命运之爱”为主题,汇集22件主题作品,探索在复杂的21世纪里青年艺术家如何在艺术创作中诠释命运的偶然与必然,突破想象的限制与规则的桎梏,用极具启发性的作品回答来自命运的提问。


Themed “Amor Fati”, this impressive  group exhibition featured 22 thematic works that explored how young artists in the working in the context of the complexities of the 21st century interpret the contingencies and inevitabilities of fate in their artistic creations. The exhibition explores how they attempt to break through the limitations of imagination and the shackles of rules, and answer questions posed by challenging circumstances with highly inspiring works.




西岸设计与艺术博览会自2014年创办以来,已经成为上海乃至中国艺术界的重要事件。十年间,从最初的三十多家画廊扩展到如今的170余家展商、机构及合作伙伴;场地面积也从1万平方米发展到本届5个主场馆多达30,000平方米。2024年的第十一届西岸艺博会汇聚了来自23个国家及地区、49个城市的170家国内外顶级画廊及艺术机构,全球十大画廊悉数参展,成为区域范围最大、规模最大、货值最高的一届博览会。


Since its inception in 2014, the West Bund Art & Design Fair has become a significant event in the art world of Shanghai and China as a whole. Over the past decade, it has expanded from an initial group of more than 30 galleries to now hosting over 170 exhibitors, institutions, and partners; the venue area has also grown from 10,000 square meters to a total of 30,000 square meters across five main halls in this edition. 


The 11th West Bund Art & Design Fair in 2024 brought together 170 top galleries and art institutions from 49 cities in 23 countries and regions, with all of the world's top ten galleries participating. It has become the largest fair in terms of regional scope and scale.


 


本届艺博会总展示面积超3.5万平方米,预计展出4500余件作品,较上届增长近20%;总货值预计超15亿元人民币,增长150%。122家参展画廊中,包括豪瑟沃斯、大田秀则画廊、佩斯画廊等连续11年参展的国际知名画廊,以及首次亮相的32家画廊,共同呈现了全球不同代际艺术家的精选佳作。作品涵盖了绘画、雕塑、装置、摄影、新媒体等不同媒介和材质,售价从数万元至千万级别呈多元分布,展示了中国艺术市场更加多元的可能性和接受力。


The total exhibition area of this year's art fair exceeds 35,000 square meters, with an expected display of over 4,500 works, representing a nearly 20% increase compared to the previous edition. The total value of the exhibited works is estimated to surpass 1.5 billion Chinese yuan, marking a 150% increase. 


Among the 122 participating galleries, there are internationally renowned galleries such as Hauser&Wirth, Ota Fine Arts, and Pace Gallery, which have been exhibiting for 11 consecutive years, as well as 32 galleries making their debut. Together, they present a selection of outstanding works by artists from different generations worldwide. 


The works encompass various mediums and materials, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and new media, with prices ranging from tens of thousands to tens of millions of yuan, demonstrating the increasing diversity and receptiveness of the Chinese art market.

Design/delight设计单元聚焦当代设计、趣味与艺术的碰撞,带来了家具、灯具及首饰作品,其中法国设计师Marie Piselli呈现她为此次西岸艺博会特别设计的概念展位“玛丽工厂Marie Factory Shanghai”


The Design/Delight section focuses on the collision of contemporary design, fun, and art, bringing furniture, lighting, and jewelry works to a wide audience. Among them, French designer Marie Piselli presented her specially designed conceptual exhibition stand, "Marie Factory Shanghai," for this year's West Bund Art & Design Fair.





 


2024年,上海青年艺术博览会迎来了其辉煌的十周年庆典,以“不止于此”为主题,寓意着从展览平台向全球创新舞台的蜕变。此次博览会于11月1日至17日在闵行区海派艺术馆举行,共展示了超过25万件艺术作品,服务了超2万名青年艺术家,规模和参与艺术家数量均创历史新高。


In 2024, the Shanghai Youth Art Expo celebrated its 10th anniversary with the theme "Beyond This," symbolizing its transformation from an exhibition platform to a global stage for innovation. 


Held at the Shanghai Style Art Museum in Minhang District from November 1st to 17th, the Expo displays over 250,000 artworks and features over 20,000 young artists, setting new records in both scale and the number of participating artists.



青艺博不仅汇聚了国内外新锐艺术家,还特别关注本土艺术发展,亚洲及中国本土画廊占比超50%。其中,“青艺·视界”板块展示了青年策展人计划的成果,包括娄馨予的《自我即媒介》和周懿的《信可乐也》等展览,为观众带来了多媒体、架上绘画和装置艺术等多种艺术形式的视觉盛宴。而“青艺·起点”板块则强调“起点”概念,展出了一系列创新性和实验性的艺术作品,为青年艺术家提供了展示自我的平台。


The Shanghai Youth Art Expo not only brought together emerging artists from home and abroad but also paid special attention to the development of the local art scene, with Asian and Chinese galleries accounting for over 50% of the total participants. 


The "Youth Art · Vision" section showcased the achievements of the Young Curators Program, including exhibitions such as Lou Xinyu's "As Self as Medium" and Zhou Yi's "Contemporary Young Artists Invitational Exhibition," offering viewers a visual feast of multimedia, easel painting, installation art, and other artistic media. 


Meanwhile, the "Youth Art · Starting Point" section emphasized the concept of "starting point" and exhibited a series of innovative and experimental artworks, providing a platform for young artists to showcase themselves to a wider audience.

此外,青艺博还创新性地推出了“艺术IP授权超市”,为艺术品与市民搭建交流平台,超过100件艺术作品参与授权展示,80%的艺术家对此表示满意。同时,“青年策展人计划”也为青年策展人提供了实践机会,进一步推动了艺术界新生力量的成长。作为上海乃至全国的艺术盛会,青艺博在支持青年艺术家、推动艺术市场创新、打造文化新高地等方面均取得了显著成效。其成功不仅展现了艺术界的蓬勃活力,也为未来的艺术发展提供了宝贵经验和启示。


Furthermore, SYAE innovatively launched the "Art IP Licensing Supermarket," creating a platform for artworks to interact with the public. Over 100 artworks participated in the licensing exhibition, with 80% of the artists expressing satisfaction. Additionally, the "Young Curator Program" provided practical opportunities for young curators, further promoting the growth of emerging forces in the art world. 


As an artistic event of great significance in Shanghai and even nationwide, SYAE has achieved remarkable results in supporting young artists, driving innovation in the art market, and establishing a new cultural highland. Its success not only demonstrates the vibrant energy of the art world but also offers valuable experience and insights for future artistic development.

同时龙美术馆在这个上海艺术季四展连开!同期展览总计700多件作品,囊括了当代、传统、中国艺术、西方四大艺术!


The Long Museum has launched four exhibitions concurrently during this Shanghai Art Season! With a total of over 700 works on display, these exhibitions offer an impressive scope of both contemporary and traditional Chinese and international styles of art. 



其中,“50——90龙美术馆十周年特展”尤为引人注目,该展览精选了近600件20世纪50年代至90年代艺术家们的杰出作品,通过两个展区,生动展示了不同代际艺术家在这一时期内的艺术探索与实践。展品中不乏名家之作,如陈丹青的《康巴汉子》以其深邃的人物刻画触动人心,奈良美智的《漫长寒冬》则以独特的视角和风格,引人深思。


Among them, the "50s-90s THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LONG MUSEUM" is particularly eye-catching. This exhibition features nearly 600 outstanding works by artists from the 1950s to the 1990s, vividly showcasing the artistic exploration and practice of different generations of artists through two exhibition areas. 


The exhibits include masterpieces by renowned artists, such as Chen Danqing's "Kangba Man," which touches people's hearts with its profound character portrayal, and Yoshitomo Nara's "Long Winter," which provokes deep thought with its unique perspective and style.



另一展览“白光黑影——蔡斯民镜头下的吴冠中与吴冠中作品展”则独辟蹊径,通过展示蔡斯民拍摄的60余件吴冠中珍贵影像资料,以及吴冠中本人的20余幅画作,让观众得以窥见这位艺术大师在新加坡、印尼、英国、法国等地的工作与生活,感受其艺术生涯的丰富多彩。


Another exhibition, "Portraits of Wu Guanzhong through chua Soo Bin's Lens & Works by Wu Guanzhong" takes a unique path by presenting over 60 precious photographic materials of Wu Guanzhong captured by Cai Simin, along with more than 20 paintings by Wu himself. 


This allows viewers to catch a glimpse of this artistic master's work and life in Singapore, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, France, and other places, offering them a sense of the richness and diversity of his artistic career.



“王郁洋:绘画”展览则聚焦于艺术家王郁洋长达十年的绘画实践。他的作品跨越人工智能、基因工程等多个前沿领域,利用先进的技术手段,创造出具有动态变化和交互性的艺术形式,为观众带来了前所未有的艺术体验。


The exhibition "Wang Yuyang: Painting" focuses on artist Wang Yuyang's decade-long painting practice. His works span multiple cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and genetic engineering, utilizing advanced technological means to create artistic forms with dynamic changes and interactivity, providing viewers with an unprecedented artistic experience.



而“丹尼尔·克鲁斯-丘博:不朽”展览则以其独特的艺术风格吸引了众多目光。此次展出的30余件画作,包括“不朽”系列和“混沌之中”系列,通过拼贴和直觉绘画技术,深刻探讨了人类永恒与宇宙物质之间的微妙关联,引人遐想。


The exhibition "Daniel Crews-Chubb: Immortals" has attracted much attention with its distinctive style. The more than 30 paintings on display, including the "Immortality" series and the "In the Midst of Chaos" series, employ collage and intuitive painting techniques to deeply explore the subtle connections between human eternity and cosmic matter, sparking contemplation.

PSA Piercing the Sky


中国重要女性艺术家尹秀珍的大规模个展“刺天”现已正式面向公众开放。本次展览向外延伸至对宇宙天地的宏观探索,向内触及人类感知中最细腻、私密的部分。对尹秀珍来说,宇宙更多象征着“未知”,“了解更多未知的东西,尝试‘打破’,这可能恰恰是一种生命的本真状态”。而对微观的关注则源于艺术家所捕捉到的琐碎日常中的温情,“更多的时候,我们需要找到生活的‘安全出口’。”


The large-scale solo exhibition "Piercing the Sky" by the renowned Chinese female artist Yin Xiuzhen is now officially open to the public. This exhibition extends outwards to explore the macro world of the universe and reaches inwards to touch the most delicate and intimate aspects of human perception. 


For Yin Xiuzhen, the universe largely symbolizes the "unknown". "To learn more about the unknown and attempt to 'break through' may indeed be a fundamental state of life." Her focus on the microcosm stems from the warmth she captures in the trivialities of everyday life, believing that "more often than not, we need to find a 'safe exit' in life."


 


作品《飞行器》、《刺天》、《补天》等强烈视觉冲击力的装置艺术,引领观众感受向外探索的勇气与超越现实的想象。策展人巫鸿从空间、材质、感知力三维度解读展览,鼓励观众静心感受这场关于天与地、人和宇宙的想象之旅。


The installation artworks such as "Aircraft," "Piercing the Sky," and "Mending the Sky," with their strong visual impact, lead viewers to experience the courage of outward exploration and the imagination that transcends reality. 


The curator Wu Hong interprets the exhibition from the three dimensions of space, material, and perception, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in this imaginative journey about heaven and earth, humans and the universe.



在去年,中国艺术市场逆势而上,销售额增长了9%,达到122亿美元,成为全球第二大艺术品市场。中国拍卖市场与美国并列成为全球第一大拍卖市场,显示出中国艺术品市场的强大活力和增长潜力。2024年,中国艺术品市场的经济环境依然充满不可预测性,与西方艺术品市场相比,中国艺术品市场起步较晚,资本年轻且国内经济变革步伐较快,更容易受到各种因素波动的影响。上海艺术周通过国际合作,汇聚全球艺术资源,推动上海成为国际重要的艺术品交易中心,这对于提升中国艺术市场的国际竞争力和影响力至关重要。


Last year, the Chinese art market rose against the trend, with sales increasing by 9% to reach $12.2 billion, making it the second-largest art market globally. The Chinese auction market, tied with the United States, has become the world's largest auction market, demonstrating the strong vitality and growth potential of the Chinese art market. In 2024, the economic environment of the Chinese art market remains unpredictable. 


Compared to the Western art market, the Chinese art market started later, with younger capital and a rapidly changing domestic economy, making it more susceptible to fluctuations influenced by various factors. 


By fostering international cooperation and gathering global art resources, the Shanghai Art Week aims to promote Shanghai as an internationally important art trading center, which is crucial for enhancing the international competitiveness and influence of the Chinese art market.
