展览前言
ZII 空间的首个系列展 “方言之方：他们白话喃喃” 意在探讨这些在伦敦相遇但旅居各地的青年艺术家作品中，各媒介物质性的独特运用与文化符号解读；物质与艺术语言在社会意义改写下的演变与不变及方言中体现的情感强度与流动方式。也是对全球化大世界语境中“少数地域”的另类回归，从隐喻与寓言中寻求重新组成社会的方式，寻求随人流变的故土与个人叙事的权利。
故乡、气候、物质阶级、人种、温饱等不时影响着我们舌头弯曲亦或是下笔的力道。同一种物在异乡是否、如何携带着我们的方言？或者我们能否通过行动将方言的声韵召唤进“他者的物”？ 方言是政治、地理、地方、民族，身份、日常生活间的口述重奏，“城里人”与“外来者”的复调叙事。方言是地理与人类习性的共同造词，也是地方对大政体及自身民族群体的模糊戏谑。用另一种话说，人的方言也是“物”（非人的actors与因素）教会我们的。
展览地图
每位艺术家的反思、推理和呈现的方言，形成一种喃喃的韵律，编织成一股反作用力，轻轻拂去笼罩在他们社会身份周围的话语、文化符号和政治语境。最终在这座乔治亚风格的建筑中，通过空间性的策展方式及材料对比探索作品、个人历史与文化语境的不同相遇，带领观众回归艺术家本身身份的探讨，在各本土文化中的寓言与个人历史事件中寻求文化间的新相知，探索不同文化作品中艺术方法的差异性与相似性。
该项目将通过“方言”、“方术”和“方法”三个概念的扩展，继续探索以跨文化和多媒体为主题的艺术作品。它将以多重话语的方式讨论民族志主题，扩展叙事和个人历史在当代艺术中的衍射表达。项目将关注公共活动的多样参与，促进展览之外的有机延伸，并鼓励跨学科和跨社区的合作。

PREFACE
The first exhibition of the ZII gallery, Oriented by Dialect: Those Diffracted Scenes among Us, explores the encounter of dialect through the works of young global artists who met in London but work in different mother tongues. It also addresses an alternative return to 'marginal regions' in the context of globalised localisation, seeking ways to reconstitute society through metaphor and allegory and to find a homeland and individual narrative that transforms with the movement of people.
Landscapes, weather, food, community, generational memory, and a multitude of human and non-human actors influence the curling of our tongues and mode of action. How do objects carry our dialects in foreign lands? Can we imbue the ‘things of others’ with our dialects through our actions? Shaped by geography and social habits, dialects serve as the folk vernacular of a region’s political system and its ethnic communities, often reflecting a polyphonic narrative between residents and outsiders. Our dialects are also influenced by 'things' (non-human actors and factors).

The dialects expressed in each artist’s work in this exhibition form a murmuring ballad, weaving together a counterforce that pushes back against the vast discourse, cultural symbols, and political contexts that shape their social identities. In the Georgian-style space of 2 Audley Square, these diverse encounters between works, personal histories, and cultural contexts seek to create new understandings between places through both personal and collective approaches.
The programme will continue to explore artworks centred on cross-cultural and multimedia themes through the expansion of three concepts: Dialect, Divination, and Discipline. It will discuss ethnographic themes in a multi-discursive manner, expanding the diffraction expression of narrative and personal history in contemporary art. The programme will focus on diverse participation in public activities, fostering organic extension beyond the exhibition and encouraging interdisciplinary and cross-community collaboration.

About ZII gallery
Fostering Transcultural Artistic Dialogue
ZII was established in 2022 in London, by Ms. Binglin Zheng and Dr. Zuoyi Zhao, as the subsidiary brand of ZHENG Art & Culture. ZII Gallery is an important part of ZHENG's vision. ZII Art Space will connect the cross-cultural characteristics of communities, serving as a catalyst among cross-cultural artist groups.
The brand has established an academic department composed of researchers, integrating art exhibitions with synchronised commercial activities and art and cultural research, fostering multifaceted brand development. Through a series of artistic activities and published critiques, ZII aims to create a brand atmosphere that embraces academic rigour with cultural vitality, cultivating an active community and brand discourse.
