Summer cloth is a type of clothing used by ancient people in summer, which is cool and suitable for the body. Its texture is ordinary and the materials are simple. It is the most commonly used fabric for ordinary people in summer. As one of the oldest fabrics in China, summer cloth can be said to be a living fossil in textiles.

夏布织造由手工织造，其生产过程主要有苎麻处理、绩纱、织布三个部分，需要多道工序才能织就。

Summer cloth weaving is done by hand, and its production process mainly includes three parts: ramie processing, yarn grading, and weaving, which require multiple processes to weave.

“轻如蝉翼，薄如宣纸，平如水镜，细如罗绢。”与丝绸、棉麻等为人熟知的织物相比，夏布简单的纹理、质朴的样式独树一帜，化繁为简，去重求轻，朴素中透露出恬淡、悠然之韵。

万载夏布生产追踪溯源可到东晋后期，已有1600多年历史。据传，南北朝时期，万载乡农蔺思源，发现富有韧性的草本植物苎麻，并将它的表皮剥下，用以编制帷帐，效果很好。

The production traceability of Wan Zai Xia Bu can be traced back to the late Eastern Jin Dynasty, with a history of more than 1600 years. It is said that during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, Lin Siyuan, a farmer in Wanzai Township, discovered the resilient herbaceous plant ramie and peeled off its skin to weave curtains, which had a good effect.

此后，万载人民逐渐改进绩麻之法，采用纯洁的苎麻纤维织造夏布。万载夏布有本色、漂白、染色、印花等多种，其纱质细软、边缩平整，编织均匀，色泽清秀，不皱折、不变形，易洗涤，凉爽清汗，唐时被列为贡品。

Afterwards, the people of Wanzai gradually improved the method of producing ramie and used pure ramie fibers to weave summer cloth. Wan Zai Xia Bu has various colors such as natural color, bleaching, dyeing, printing, etc. Its yarn quality is fine and soft, the edges shrink flat, the weaving is uniform, the color is clear and beautiful, it does not wrinkle or deform, easy to wash, cool and sweat free. It was listed as a tribute in the Tang Dynasty.
