徐素白在吸收前辈竹刻艺术的基础上，用刻刀再现沪上书画家的名作，将留青竹刻艺术提升到了一个崭新的高度。白士风作品刀法流利，刻工精细，风格古朴淡雅，韵味十足。

采竹有着严格的时间要求，就是在每年的腊月以后，一九天到四九天为黄金时段。这段时间里的竹子为较佳。

砍竹是一件专业的事情，所以必须请专业人士操作。因为从这一刻起，要时时刻刻保护好竹子，上面的表皮不被划伤。

擦竹了是留青竹刻过程中最重要的环节之一，寒天腊月能擦的大汗淋漓，让人精疲力尽。

擦拭完后需格齐排列晾干，这时水分随着竹子热度微发，颜色开始由墨绿迅速变成黄绿。暴晒是对竹材最严苛的考验，也是整个处理过程中最大的关键环节和报废环节之一。

Bamboo harvesting has strict time requirements, meaning the golden period is from the 19th to the 49th day after the twelfth lunar month each year. Bamboo is better during this period.

Chopping bamboo is a professional task, so it must be operated by professionals. From this moment on, it is necessary to protect the bamboo at all times and prevent the surface from being scratched.

Rubbing bamboo is one of the most important steps in the process of leaving green bamboo carving. It can make one sweat profusely on cold days and exhausted in the twelfth lunar month.

After wiping, it needs to be arranged in a grid and dried. At this time, the moisture will slightly increase with the heat of the bamboo, and the color will quickly change from dark green to yellow-green. Exposure to sunlight is the most rigorous test for bamboo, and it is also one of the most critical scrap stages in the entire processing process.

暴晒一年后，剩下的坚强的竹子开始进入存放阶段。一片合格的竹材，存放最少3~4年。在这漫长的过程中，又有竹材不断开裂报废。

雕刻，一般分五步。首先：回稿。因竹皮留青，勾勒的艺术形象必须清晰。第二步：圈边。雕刻过程不可逆，运刀时刃口朝向去青的一面，以免破坏轮廓。第三步：起地。使用起地刀（平口），刀刃斜面向下紧贴竹面行刀，推铲竹皮必须用力均匀，下刀过重易导致竹肌层糟永久破坏，下刀过轻达不到效果再次重复下刀增加把握难度。第四步：分筠（竹皮）用圆刀或斜口圈边刀的刀锋在竹皮上刻刮细节层次，表现中国画笔墨意蕴和浓淡关系。最后：平地（修整）用平口起地刀往复五六次修饰瑕疵

After being exposed to sunlight for a year, the remaining strong bamboo begins to enter the storage stage. A piece of qualified bamboo should be stored for at least 3-4 years. During this long process, bamboo continued to crack and be scrapped.

Carving usually involves five steps. Firstly, reply to the manuscript. Due to the green leaves on the bamboo skin, the artistic image outlined must be clear. Step 2: Circle the edges. The carving process is irreversible, and when moving the blade, the edge should face the side that has been removed from the green to avoid damaging the contour. Step three: Rise to the ground. Using a ground knife (flat mouth), the blade slope should be pressed down tightly against the bamboo surface when cutting. When pushing and shovelling bamboo skin, it is necessary to apply even force. Overly heavy cutting can cause permanent damage to the bamboo muscle layer, while too light cutting cannot achieve the desired effect. Repeating cutting again increases the difficulty of grasping. Step 4: Fenyun (bamboo skin) uses the blade of a round knife or a slanted edge knife to carve and scratch the details and layers on the bamboo skin, expressing the ink meaning and contrast relationship of Chinese brushes. Finally, use a flat blade to lift the ground back and forth five or six times to repair the flaws on the flat surface.
