2008年6月7日，灯彩（秦淮灯彩）经中华人民共和国国务院批准列入第二批国家级非物质文化遗产名录，遗产编号：Ⅶ-50。

On June 7, 2008, the Qinhuai Lantern Festival was approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China to be included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list, with the heritage number of VII-50.

秦淮灯彩亦称“金陵灯彩”“南京灯彩”，是南京地区代表性的民间艺术之一。

Qinhuai Lantern Festival, also known as Jinling Lantern Festival and Nanjing Lantern Festival, is one of the representative folk arts in the Nanjing area.

秦淮灯彩的起源可以追溯到东吴时期，它汲取了中国传统纸扎、绘画、书法、剪纸、皮影、刺绣、雕塑等艺术之长，在制作中综合木工、漆工、彩绘、雕饰、泥塑、编结等诸多工艺手段。

The origin of Qinhuai lantern can be traced back to the Eastern Wu Dynasty. It draws on the strengths of Chinese traditional art such as paper binding, painting, calligraphy, Paper Cuttings, shadow play, embroidery, sculpture, etc., and integrates carpentry, lacquerwork, color painting, carving, clay sculpture, knitting and many other techniques in its production.

秦淮灯彩种类多样，不仅有荷花灯、狮子灯等传统灯彩，还有一系列与时代关系密切的花灯作品，如远洋轮船、运载火箭、城市建设、山林景观等。

There are various types of Qinhuai lanterns, including traditional lanterns such as lotus lanterns and lion lanterns, as well as a series of lantern works closely related to the times, such as ocean going ships, carrier rockets, urban construction, and forest landscapes.

秦淮灯彩造型样式繁多，传统花灯有纱灯、羊皮灯、料丝灯、三星灯、八仙灯、聚宝盆灯、皮球灯、西瓜灯、草虫灯、金鱼灯以及各种人物造型的壁灯等。花灯的结构造型也有大有小，但不论大小都能形象生动地表现出灯的美感。此外，灯彩艺人们还不断创新，尝试用光导、声控、电子技术制作出各式新式彩灯，如猪八戒灯、熊猫灯、孔雀灯、生肖灯、星座灯、折叠式立体荷花灯、塑料薄膜彩球灯等。

There are various styles of Qinhuai lantern designs, including traditional lanterns such as yarn lanterns, sheepskin lanterns, silk lanterns, three-star lanterns, eight immortal lanterns, treasure pot lanterns, ball lanterns, watermelon lanterns, grass and insect lanterns, goldfish lanterns, and various character shaped wall lanterns. The structure and shape of lanterns come in various sizes, but regardless of their size, they can vividly express the beauty of the lamp. In addition, lantern artists continue to innovate and try to use optical guidance, voice control, and electronic technology to create various new types of lanterns, such as the Pigsy Ring Lantern, Panda Lantern, Peacock Lantern, Zodiac Lantern, Constellation Lantern, Folding Three Dimensional Lotus Lantern, Plastic Film Ball Lantern, etc.

As one of the important schools of traditional Chinese lantern art, Qinhuai lantern art objectively reflects the historical evolution of folk lantern art from the fire of nature, the fire of life, the fire of festivals to the fire of art.

秦淮灯彩作为中国灯盏的一个代表，沿袭了古人以灯拟星的文化象征观念，是对人星混同、天人合一观念的艺术表达。其文化意义首先在文化哲学方面，即以小小的灯盏寄托了人与自然和谐抱合的愿望；其次，在民俗方面，它与传统的年节习俗结合起来，以全民同乐的欢快基调融入民间生活，使入世乐观的主题常年传承。

Qinhuai Lantern Festival, as a representative of Chinese lanterns, follows the cultural symbol concept of ancient people using lamps to imitate stars. It is an artistic expression of the concept of human star harmony and the unity of heaven and man.
