“水国芒种后,梅天风雨凉。”唐代的窦常站在江南水乡的田埂上发出如此感叹,可见古人对芒种节气的重视。
"After the Grain in Ear in the water country, the plum rains bring cool winds and showers." Such was the exclamation of Dou Chang from the Tang Dynasty as he stood on the ridges of the fields in the water towns of the Jiangnan region, illustrating the ancient people's attention to the Grain in Ear solar term.
今天,作为地球村的一员,我们积极响应联合国人类可持续发展目标,践行习近平总书记提出的“树立大食物观”的新理念,也培养孩子们的粮食安全观和食物安全观。我校国际教学部中文教研组于6月5日,组织本校G9全体学生前往吴江农场,举行主题为“体验智慧农业,端牢中国饭碗”的研学活动。
Today, as members of the global village, we actively respond to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and practice the new concept of "establishing a broad view of food" proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. We also aim to cultivate children's awareness of grain security and food safety. On June 5th, the Chinese teaching and research group of our school's international education department organized a field study activity for all G9 students to visit Wujiang Farm. The theme was "Experience Smart Agriculture, Secure China's Food Bowl."
Part 1
躬身耕种,体会农事艰辛
“时雨及芒种,四野皆插秧”。伴随着淅淅沥沥的小雨,师生们乘坐大巴车前往吴江区平望镇的农场。到达农场后,绵绵细雨中映衬着山色青翠,学生们分组跟随农民伯伯们进入田地开展第一个学习项目——山芋苗种植。
农场中的带队老师向孩子们详细讲解了适合种植山芋苗的土壤类型、传统种植山芋苗的方法以及种植山芋苗所涉及到的农具等知识。随后,老师向同学们示范如何在栽种过程中,使用农业技术手段来培育良种山芋苗。
"As timely rains come around Grain in Ear, seedlings are planted all around." Accompanied by a light drizzle, teachers and students took a bus to a farm in Pingwang Town, Wujiang District. Upon arriving at the farm, the lush green mountains enhanced by the continuous fine rain set a vibrant backdrop as students, divided into groups, followed the farmers into the fields to embark on their first learning project—planting yam seedlings.
The farm's lead teacher provided the students with detailed explanations about the type of soil suitable for yam seedlings, traditional methods of planting yam seedlings, and the agricultural tools involved in the planting process. Afterwards, the teacher demonstrated how to use agricultural techniques to cultivate high-quality yam seedlings during the planting process.

采摘果蔬,分享收获喜悦
“菜园小径踏青时,蔬菜香气芬芳醉”。在泥泞田间协同合作,完成辛劳种植后,同学们跟随着老师来到了科技蔬菜大棚,大家见识到了现代化科技大棚的智慧大脑——水肥一体化、湿度温度控制表。看似简单的器械和浇灌流程背后,是无数技术工作者和生产者用科技搭建的桥梁,为我们的农业生产和日常生活带来便利的同时,也为国家的粮食生产安全构筑了强有力的支点。
"After treading green paths in the vegetable garden, the aromatic fragrance of vegetables is intoxicating." After collaborating in the muddy fields and completing the labor-intensive planting, the students followed their teacher to a high-tech vegetable greenhouse. There, they encountered the "brain" of the modern greenhouse—integrated water and fertilizer systems and controls for humidity and temperature. Behind the seemingly simple equipment and irrigation process lies a bridge built by countless technicians and producers using technology. This not only brings convenience to our agricultural production and daily lives but also provides a strong support for the national food production security.
孩子们在触碰科技力量的旅途中,也学习了正确的采摘方法。镜头前,大家展示着各自“挑选”的黄瓜、茄子、辣椒、菜椒、西葫芦、丝瓜、瓠子等瓜果蔬菜,也分享着收获的喜悦。
During their journey of encountering the power of technology, the children also learned the proper techniques for harvesting. In front of the camera, they proudly displayed the cucumbers, eggplants, hot peppers, bell peppers, zucchinis, loofahs, and bottle gourds they had "selected." They also shared the joy of their harvests, showcasing the fruits and vegetables they had carefully picked from the plants. This experience not only taught them about modern agricultural practices but also about the satisfaction of directly engaging with the food production process.
Part 3
围桌而坐,品尝农家美味
“箸箸适我口,匙匙充我肠”。劳动过后再品尝食物,常能有所思有所得。静静地咀嚼,轻轻地回味,眼前的农家美食此刻仿若御膳珍馐。每位同学在补充能量的同时,也更体会到了“一粥一饭,当思来之不易;一饮一啄,饱蘸苦辣酸甜”的道理。
"Every bite suits my taste, every spoonful fills my belly." Tasting food after labor often leads to reflection and appreciation. Quietly chewing and gently savoring, the farmhouse delicacies before the students seemed like royal feasts at that moment. As each student replenished their energy, they also came to understand the saying, "For every grain of porridge and every morsel of food, consider the effort behind it; with every sip and every bite, taste the full spectrum of life's flavors." This deepened their appreciation for the labor involved in food production and the value of sustenance.

During this field study activity, parents greatly supported and recognized the school's initiative in agricultural learning. Homeroom teachers shared real-time photos with parents, and everyone felt that it was very meaningful for the children to personally experience farming in the fields, harvesting friendships while planting seeds for scientific research and contributing to societal and human development. As mud clung to the hems of our pants, as caterpillars crawled through the vines before our eyes, and as the children braved the rain to help the farmers plant and harvest urgently, we truly understood what hunger and poverty mean to an individual, a nation, and a country as we stepped through the fields. These terms and topics are no longer just news segments on streaming media for us; they pertain to the social responsibility and mission of each of us.
科技对于我们而言,也不再只是单纯的娱乐,更是新一代青年去触摸未来的阶梯;而这条为中国人民端牢饭碗、为地球母亲绿色持续发展的路,不同性别,甚至不同国家的你我,必将携手同行。
For us, technology is no longer just a source of entertainment but a ladder for the new generation of youth to reach towards the future. The path to securing the food supply for the Chinese people and promoting sustainable green development for Mother Earth is one that people of different genders and even different countries must embark on together.
