Conference on Trade Patterns and Responses under Multiple Trade Risks

The world has entered a period of development in which strategic opportunities, risks, and challenges are concurrent and uncertainties are rising. Various “black swan” and “gray rhino” events may occur at any time. The once-in-a-century pandemic has had far-reaching effects, a backlash against globalization is rising, and unilateralism and protectionism are mounting. Confronted with increasing uncertainties in an international environment, China continues to promote high-standard opening up and aims to improve the quality of trade and investment cooperation. To this end, understanding how China’s trade patterns have been structurally changed amid multiple global risks deserves in-depth investigation. This special issue aims to elucidate the new characteristics and evolutionary trends of China’s trade, offer theoretical models incorporating different risk factors, evaluate the influence of protectionism, climate change, financial risks, and other risks transmitted from both developed and developing countries on the patterns of trade and capital flows, and uncover the specific mechanisms behind.

The conference committee cordially invites submissions of both theoretical and empirical work focusing on China’s open economy under a confluence of concurrent risk factors. Proposed topics include but are not limited to:

2)The Interconnection of Trade Risk and Macroeconomy

3)Trade Barrier Risks on Trade

4)Green Trade Barrier Risk and Trade: Impact, Mechanism and Solutions

5)The Influence of International Financial Risk on Trade, Mechanisms, and Coping Strategies

6)International Business Environment Risks on Trade

7)Pathways to Reshape the New Trade Landscape

Manuscript submission deadline: 

Aug 25th, 2024.

We invite authors to submit completed papers. The paper should be original and have not been published elsewhere. Please submit the full paper with an abstract in PDF format to huangxiaodi@ucass.edu.cn, using the authors’ full names as the filenames of the papers, and enter “Paper Submission for Trade Patterns and Risks” as the email subject line. To facilitate the peer review process, a separate title page is required. Please also indicate whether you would be interested in being a discussant. The organizers will select the papers based on the quality of the manuscript. Economic Analysis and Policy will select papers presented at the conference, and publish a special issue after going through the usual double-blind review process.

The deadline for paper submission to the conference is Aug 25th, 2024. There will be no review fees or conference fees for participants of this conference. The conference will be held at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing on September 8th, and we are unable to subsidize travel expenses and lodgings of participants.

Economic Analysis and Policy (established 1970) publishes articles from all branches of economics with a particular focus on research, theoretical and applied, which has strong policy relevance. The journal also publishes survey articles and empirical replications on key policy issues. Authors are expected to highlight the main insights in a non-technical introduction and the conclusion.

多重贸易风险下的贸易模式与对策会议

当今世界已进入战略机遇和风险挑战并存、不确定性上升的发展时期。各种“黑天鹅”、“灰犀牛”事件随时可能发生。百年一遇的新冠疫情影响深远，全球化逆流涌动，单边主义和保护主义抬头。面对不确定因素增多的国际环境，中国继续推动高水平对外开放，致力于提高贸易和投资合作的质量。为此，如何理解中国贸易模式在全球多重风险中发生的结构性变化值得深入研究。本专刊旨在阐明中国贸易的新特征和演变趋势，提供包含不同风险因素的理论模型，评估保护主义、气候变化、金融风险以及发达国家和发展中国家在贸易和资本流动格局方面传递的其他风险，并揭示其背后的具体机制。

会议委员会诚邀各方提交理论和实证方面的研究成果，重点关注当前风险因素交织下的中国开放型经济。议题包括但不限于：

1）多重风险下国际贸易的新特征与理论框架

2）贸易风险与宏观经济的内在联系

3）贸易壁垒对贸易风险的影响

4）绿色贸易壁垒风险与贸易：影响、机制与对策

5）国际金融风险对贸易的影响、机制及应对策略

6）国际商业环境下的贸易风险

7）重塑新贸易格局的途径

《经济分析与政策》（1970年创刊）刊登经济学所有分支的文章，尤其侧重于与政策密切相关的理论和应用研究。该期刊还发表有关关键政策问题的调查文章和实证文章。希望作者在非技术性的引言和结论中突出主要观点。
