Sadhguru answers a seeker’s questions on the purpose of life and explains what it takes to know the nature of one’s existence.
萨古鲁回答了一个探寻者关于生命目的的问题,阐释了怎样才能了解人存在的本质。
 
Questioner: Does soul exist?
提问者:灵魂存在吗?
 
Sadhguru: Soul? Whose soul?
Sadhguru(萨古鲁):灵魂?谁的灵魂?
 
Questioner: And one more, what is the purpose of life? (Laughter)
提问者:还有一个问题,生命的目的是什么?(笑)
 
Sadhguru: You're just asking very big questions without understanding the significance of the question. See, when you ask does soul exists, you're not talking about an academic subject. You're asking, what is the nature of who I am? Or you're saying, "I don't know damn thing about myself, please tell me." Yes, isn't it? You're asking this very easily, because you have not been touched by the pain of ignorance, the pain of not knowing who you are, it has not torn you apart. If it really touches you, that you're just living here, doing all kinds of nonsense, without knowing the ABC of who you are, it should be very painful, isn’t it? That pain has not yet touched you. You're mouthing questions, it's not sunk deep enough.
Sadhguru(萨古鲁):你只是在问一些非常大的问题,但却没有理解问题的意义。看,当你问灵魂是否存在时,你不是在谈论学术主题。你是在问,我的本质是什么?或者你是在说,“我对自己毫不了解,请告诉我。是吧。不是吗?你如此轻易地问出来,因为你还没被无知所带来的痛苦触碰到,不自知的痛苦还没折磨到你,如果它真的触及到了你,就是说,你只是活着,做着各种无意义的事,对“你是谁”没有一知半解,那应该是很痛苦的,不是吗?那种痛还没有触及到你,你的问题脱口而出,还不够深入。
 
So every day, you must remind yourself. At least spend ten minutes in the morning, just see what an utterly idiot you are. You don't know anything about yourself but you're busy with all kinds of nonsense in your life. Every day, just ten minutes, remind yourself as intensely as possible, your ignorance of yourself, then slowly, the pain will sink. When it becomes so painful that you can't bear it, knowing will not be far away. It's one moment.
所以每天,你必须提醒自己,早晨至少花十分钟,只是看看你自己是个怎样的彻头彻尾的大傻瓜。你对自己一无所知,但你却忙于生活中各种无聊的琐事。每天,只是十分钟,尽力提醒自己,你对自己的一无所知,慢慢地,痛苦就会加深,当痛苦到你无法忍受时,知晓就不远了。它就在一瞬间。
 
If I say, "Yes, you have a soul." What, can you walk better? What use is the soul? Did they put any kind of utility to the soul? These two are useful, that other soul, that they're talking about, is it of any use? It's of no use. So don't talk about it. And if I tell you, it is there. What does it do to you? If I tell you no, it doesn't exist, what does it do to you? Nothing, isn't it? Only thing is, a next dinner party that you go, you can entertain people around you talking about the soul. But as far as your existence is concerned, nothing changes, isn't it so? Yes? Nothing at all will change, isn't it?
如果我说,“是的,你有灵魂。”怎样,你能走得更好吗?灵魂有什么用?他们让灵魂有什么用了吗?这两个sole(脚掌)是有用的,他们在说的那个soul(灵魂),它有用吗?毫无用处。所以不要再讲这些了,如果我告诉你,灵魂存在。它对你有什么用?如果我告诉你,灵魂不存在,它对你有什么用?什么用都没有,不是吗?唯一的用处是,你去的下一个晚宴上,你可以聊灵魂的话题,娱乐大家,但就你的存在而言,什么都没有改变,不是吗?嗯?不会有任何改变,不是吗?
 
So if you're asking the question, fundamentally, you're asking a question, what am I? Who am I? When you are here... Are you alive? You’re alive. When you're here alive, what is the way to know who you are? Is it not really ridiculous and insane that you must ask me, “Please tell me who am I?” This is like two psychiatrists were walking on the Kovalam beach one day. One of them looked at the other up and down and said, “You seem okay. How am I?” (Laughter) This is just like that, isn't it? You're sitting here, you're alive. You are existing and you're asking me, “Who am I? What am I?” (Laughter) Is it not ridiculous? Very ridiculous, isn't it?
所以,如果你问这个问题,从根本上说,你是在问,我是什么?我是谁?当你在这里的时候……你活着吗?你活着。你在这里活生生的,要如何知道你是谁?你一定要问我,“请告诉我我是谁?”这难道不是很荒谬和疯狂吗?这就像两位精神科医生,有一天在科瓦兰沙滩上散步,其中一个上下打量另一个人,说“你看起来没问题。我怎样?”(笑)就像这个场景,不是吗?你坐在这里,你是活生生的,你存在着,然后你问我,“我是谁?我是什么?”(笑)这难道不荒谬吗?非常荒谬啊,不是吗?
 
Only thing is, the majority is with you. That's the only comfort which is not allowed you to know the pain of ignorance. You have a huge majority of people around you who are all saying yes, this is the way to be. Yes? That is the only thing which has given you some comfort. Suppose you are the only man on the planet who does not know who you are. Everybody else knows. You know how it would be for you? Yes? You don't know who you are. You're busy in the world. Does it make any sense? Or does it sound like madness? Hmm? Insanity, isn't it? But the comfort is, you're in a huge asylum where everybody is like you. (Laughs)
只是大多数人都和你一样,而正是这唯一的安慰,让你没法了解无知的痛苦。你身边有一大群人都在说,是的,就该是这样。嗯?这是唯一一件能给你一些安慰的事情了。假设你是这个地球上唯一一个不知道自己是谁的人,其他人都知道自己是谁,你知道这对你来说意味着什么?嗯?你不知道自己是谁,却在人世间忙忙碌碌,听起来合理吗?还是这听起来像疯了?嗯?像疯了,不是吗?但令你欣慰的是,你在一个巨大的精神病院里,大家都和你一样(笑)。
 
So your problem is, your existence itself right now is only in comparison with something else. You have no existence of yourself, please see. Right now, if you don't have something that everybody has, everybody has nose, suppose you did not have a nose. Actually, you can breathe better you know. If you take off your nose, you will get 22% extra oxygen. You will be more healthy, everything will be better. But you know how you will suffer, because everybody else has a nose. Yes or no? Or if you get something extra that other people don't have, you still suffer, isn't it? Suppose you grew one horn, (Laughter) you know how terrible it would be. But if everybody had a horn, then we would be polishing it and decorating and you know... (Gestures) Your very existence is in comparison, there is no existence of yourself. Everything is in comparison.
所以你的问题是,你现在自身的存在只是在和其他人比较而已。你没有自己的存在,请看到这一点。现在,如果人人都有一样东西,而你却没有。假设人人都有鼻子,而你却没有鼻子,事实上,你可以呼吸得更好,你知道吗。如果你摘除鼻子,你可以多吸22%的氧气,你会更健康,一切会更好,但你知道你会多痛苦,因为别人都有鼻子。是不是?或者你多了一样别人没有的东西,你也会痛苦,不是吗?假设你长了一个角(笑),你知道这会多可怕,但如果每个人都有一个角,那我们会给它抛光和打扮,你知道的……(手势)你的存在是比较出来的,没有你自己的存在,一切都是比较出来的。
 
So, with that comfort you're passing off without knowing the pain of not knowing. If you know the pain of not knowing who you are, then if you just see that I don't know anything about myself, tears will come. If it starts tearing you apart, knowing is not far away. It's very simple. It's very, very simple because after all you want to know what is within you, isn't it? Can what is within you be denied to you by anybody or anything? Hmm? Do you need a passport to go within? Do you need a visa? To turn inward and know what's within, do you need somebody's permission? Or can somebody stop you? Can any authority in the world stop you? No. So, who is stopping you? Who could be stopping you? Only yourself. Nobody else but yourself. Nobody else is capable of stopping you, isn't it?
所以,带着这样的慰藉,你度过此生都未知无知的痛苦。如果你了解不自知的痛苦,那么,只是看到你对自己一无所知,眼泪就会落下来。如果无知开始折磨你,知晓就不远了。非常简单,非常非常简单,因为毕竟你想要知道你内在的东西,不是吗?有任何人或事能阻止你了解你内在的东西吗?嗯?你需要护照才能向内看吗?你需要签证吗?转向内在,了解内在你需要谁的允许吗?或者有谁能够阻止你吗?这个世界上有任何权威能够阻止你吗?不能。所以,谁在阻止你?谁能够阻止你?只有你自己,除了你自己没有别人。没有人有能力阻止你,不是吗?
 
So, why are you stopping yourself? Simply because you made your whole existence outside of yourself. Your very existence is only in comparison with somebody. Because this has happened to you simply because the very nature of sense organs is like this, because your experience of life is limited to sense perception, that is the reason why you're existing in comparison with somebody, not by yourself. Because sense organs are like this, if I touch this, this feels cold to me. This feels cold to me not because of the way the steel rod is. Simply because of the way my body temperature is. If I lower my body temperature and touch this, this would be warm to me. Yes? Is it so? If I lowered my body temperature to minus hundred and touch this, this would be red hot to me. Is it so?
所以,为什么你要阻止自己呢?只是因为你在自己之外创造了你的整个存在。你的存在只是与他人在比较,这种情况的发生只是因为感觉器官的本质就是这样。因为你的生命体验受限于感官认知,这就是为什么你存在于和他人的比较中,而不是自己存在。因为感觉器官是这样子的,如果我碰到这里,我感觉到冷。这个让我感觉冷,不是因为这根钢丝杆本身,只是因为我的体温。如果我降低我的体温,再碰它,我就会觉得这根钢丝杆是暖的。嗯?是这样吗?如果我降低我的体温到零下100度,再碰它,这对我来说就是很烫手的。是这样吗?
 
So your very basic experience of life, because it is limited to sense perception, everything is in comparison. So your very existence has become in comparison. If this has to change, philosophies and teachings are not going to change this fundamental reality. If your experience of life transcends the limitations of sense perception, suddenly, everything is different. When we initiated you into Shambhavi, if you gave yourself to the process, it could easily take you beyond sense perception. Many of you going into moments where you are no more within your sense perception something else is beginning to happen.
所以你生命最基本的体验,因为它是受到感官认知的局限,一切都是比较而来的,所以你的存在也变成了比较而来的。如果要改变这一点,哲学和教导不会改变这一基本的现实。如果你的生命体验超越了感官认知的局限性,突然间,一切都不一样了。当我们为你开启Shambhavi(香巴维)的时候,如果你全身心投入这个过程,它能够轻而易举地带你超越感官认知。你们中的很多人进入到不再局限于感官认知的瞬间,另外的事情开始发生。
 
Anything new happens, your mind is such it knows only fear. Even if you walk into heaven, you will know only fear because it's something that you do not know. You have conditioned yourself like this. But if you allow it to happen, you will see you will start experiencing a dimension which is beyond sense perception. Only when your experience of life moves beyond sense perception, then your experience of life is absolute, not in comparison with something else, then you will experience of life has transcended the limitations of the physical. then you will experience of life has transcended the limitations of the physical. You better know who the hell you are. Otherwise, anything that you do is of no consequence.
你的头脑是这样的:任何新事物发生,它都只知道恐惧。即便你走进了天堂,你也只知道恐惧,因为(天堂)是你不知道的东西。你已如此制约自己。但如果你允许它发生,你会看到,你开始体验一个超越感官认知的维度。只有当你的生命体验超越了感官认知,之后你的生命体验才是绝对的,而不是和其他东西比较的。然后你的生命体验就超越了物质的局限性,那么,你就创造了一个氛围去了解自己到底是谁。你最好知道你到底是谁,否则,你做的一切都毫无意义。
