Changzhou MixC is located at 1231 Zhongwu Avenue, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, at the core of the Tea Mountain subway station area. It is positioned as a top-tier commercial complex, catering to families seeking a high-quality lifestyle and trendy, pioneering youth. The total commercial area is approximately 150,000 square metres, and the project is set to open on May 30, 2024.

Changzhou MixC is located on Tea Mountain Avenue, named for its historical role in the transportation and storage of tea. The design concept of this project is inspired by tea, influencing both the facade and interior. The facade design draws from the rhythmic form of Tea Mountain, creating a sense of layered undulations in the lighting design, and adding a modern, natural feel. The interior lighting continues this tea-inspired theme. Rich textures with tea elements are incorporated in various areas to unify the interior and facade story context.

落地效果

The design concept for the facade lighting of Rhythm of Tea Mountain Longcheng MixC focuses on highlighting the terraced fields of Tea Mountain. Linear luminaires emphasize the relationship between the advancing and retreating forms of the terraces. Additionally, facade projection is used to accentuate the texture and warmth of the colorful ceramic panels, vertical groove ceramic panels, and metal aluminum panels.

Design Challenges Considerations

1、线性洗墙 VS 幕墙平整度

虽说线性洗墙与外部投光都是常规的灯光设计手法，但是实际落地效果却与多方因素有关。本案中建筑立面大面积采用竖向拉槽陶板材质，底部洗墙方式对于幕墙平整度要求极高；微弱的施工瑕疵在灯光的照射下都会被无限放大，这对于灯光效果而言是致命的影响。LEOX在设计初期与建筑师达成共识在幕墙底部预留足够的空间供线性灯具的安装，同时考虑灯具的遮挡与隐蔽。因此在调试阶段，团队可以在充足的空间内对底部洗墙灯具的安装角度与照射距离进行调整，以便达到立面最佳的灯光效果。

1. Linear Wall Washing vs. Flatness of Curtain Wall

Although linear wall washing and external projection are both common lighting design methods, the actual effect depends on multiple factors. In this case, vertical groove ceramic board materials are used for a large area of the building facade. The bottom wall washing method requires a high standard of flatness for the curtain wall. Tiny construction flaws can be greatly magnified under illumination, having a fatal impact on the lighting presentation. During the initial design phase, LEOX reached a consensus with the architects to reserve enough space for installing linear luminaires at the bottom of the curtain wall, considering the luminaires' shading and concealment. Thus, during the commissioning stage, the team can adjust the installation angles and illumination distances of the bottom wall washers within the ample space to achieve the best facade lighting effect.

Highlight Space

商业主入口顶部灯光采用背投方式营造出晶莹剔透的弧线造型玻璃灯盒，此处灯光色温采用4000K，在形成城市尺度视觉焦点的同时，可与室内3500K的商业氛围灯光形成冷暖对比，提升主入口空间的灯光层次感；

Backlit lighting is used for the top of the main commercial entrance to create glass light box with crystal arc shape. The light color temperature here is 4000K. At the same time of forming urban visual focus, it can contrast with the indoor 3500K commercial atmosphere lighting and upgrade the layer sense of main entrance space lighting.

入口门厅两侧立面材质为幻彩陶板，结合材质本身的光学属性，我们采用了经典的外投光方式，保证立面简洁的同时，在夜间营造出幻彩的光影空间，增加了商业入口空间的可识别性。

The two facades of the entrance hall are made of colorful ceramic board. We combine the optical properties of the material and use the classical external projection to ensure facade concision. It also creates colorful light and shadow space at night, adding the recognition of commercial entrance space.

室内灯光设计手法

Interior Lighting Design Methods

Interior design extends the concept of tea mountain and tea. The shape of leaves is made on the ceiling and feature areas, matching with low luxury champagne gold interior and light embellishment. Interior lighting is with the keynote of 3500K. At night, it will bring the excellent shopping experience and comfortable lighting environment. 

Walk into interior space, the two glass link bridges of main atrium hold the central position. Transparent lighting effect is also the visual focus for customers. LEOX has gone to the scene to test internal wall washers' effect for many times. According to the size of link bridges and space adjustment, we closely cooperate with client, interior, construction and others. And finally, it presents the bridge effect, shining like crystal. 

The south long corridor is another core highlight, distinct from traditional commercial corridor designs. The client and fine decoration consultant have uniformly planned the facade image and interior layout of this space, creating a distinctive commercial facade with clear visibility. Leveraging this advantage, the integration of lighting with the facade frame shape will be further enhanced, extending the overall impression. Moreover, it plays a guiding role in directing people.

云端中庭动画

LEOX pays most attention to users’ feelings. The concealment of luminaires, anti-glare control, illumination of user space and other ways are all taken into consideration and research to build perfect lighting space. We cooperate with interior consultant, 10 design about the river blocking light slot of main atrium and create a 1:1 reproduction of the actual effect through mock up. As ensuring the lighting effect, see lighting but not light, the skillful node design also extremely lowers the difficulty of later installation and commission.
