Rolls-Royce to invest $370m in UK plant, launch new BEV

British Luxury marque Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announced Wednesday a £300 million ($370m) investment to extend its manufacturing facility at Goodwood, England.

The move is described as the next step in the company’s commitment to creating value for clients and shareholders. It will expand its bespoke car production capabilities, following a new record in 2024 driven by demand for handcrafted luxury vehicles. The Middle East is the largest market for such vehicles, followed by North America and Europe.

The extension will create additional space for the Bespoke and Coachbuild projects, but also “ready the manufacturing facility for the marque’s transition to an all-battery electric vehicle (BEV) future,” the company says.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars plans to become fully electric by 2030, and its electrification strategy has not changed, a spokesperson tellsKallanish. The Goodwork factory currently assembles one BEV model, the Spectre, and three ICEs (Phantom, Ghost and Cullinan) in one line. It produces 28 cars a day.

纯电动车型使用韩国三星SDI供应的102千瓦时电池，WLTP续航里程约为330英里。Spectre配备两个电机，功率达430千瓦，扭矩达900牛米。
The all-electric coupé features a 102-kilowatt-hour battery supplied by South Korea’s Samsung SDI, offering around up to 330 miles of range (WLTP). With two electric motors, Spectre boasts a 430-kW power and 900 newton-metre.

Despite some headwinds in the demand for EVs, Rolls-Royce says it is looking forward with confidence to 2025. It will unveil its second BEV model later this year.
