Themes of a Fictional Era
From a laboratory named poetry
escape is inevitable
wisdom just needs a bit of artifice
to conspire with poetry, to estimate the energy of words
The earth transcribes the classical
inventing an era to tame the nothingness
concocting fictional themes
and in turn, taming the creator
History uses forgetting as raw materials
whitewashing the sacrificial altar of civilization.

The Self as a Porcupine
The porcupine prepares for combat, a battle from mountains to sea
dodging left and right along the streets
assaulting the traffic lights in the shopping district.
An encounter with spines is inevitable
nibbling on pine needles, blindly matched pores
lie across all irresponsible fate
The first lesson of an itinerant society is to identify license plates
which car will be ready immediately, which car
requires extra maintenance fees.
Most porcupines greedily seek pleasure
burrowing into suspended wine barrels
simply domesticated,
willing to soak in glutinous rice wine to soften its spines
and meet a suitable future as early as possible
In difficult to surrender beliefs, livestock
cannot avoid notoriety
porcupines give lessons, and who dares say it’s indecent
is a teacher reincarnated as a porcupine fetus
no longer worth your reverence?
From the mouths of animals
one can receive the highest truths
porcupines are good at praise
the walls of the ancient schools have been smashed
so solemnly proclaim:
all of the sins of tonight will be rubbed into mud
Try observing the eyes of a porcupine
shining on your face, sometimes limpid
twisted, lifting fangs and talons
red, swollen eyes─aren’t you an animal?
A human fetus, letting out animal sounds.
A porcupine god
suitable for the downtrodden locals
grab a handful of discarded thorns to wipe the window glass
deepen the cracks between family members
The only problem
is that even the smallest porcupine can become a New Year’s pig
and amid the sounds of firecrackers, a stabbing blade
stuffs the beast into a gloomy new life.
