字面:一只小鸟告诉我

实际:有人告诉我 (我不告诉你是谁)

例句:A little bird told me that you got married last week.

有人告诉我你上周结婚了。(你别问是谁告诉我了)

2. Your guess is as good as mine.

字面:你的猜测和我的一样好。

实际:我不知道。等于I don't know.

例句:A: Do you think they will get married? 你觉得他们会结婚吗?

B: Your guess is as good as mine. 我也不知道。

3.ring a bell /  ring any bell

字面: 按铃

实际:有印象

例句:We met at Bingo's place. Does that ring any bell?

我们在Bingo家认识的,有印象没?想起来没?

4. down in the dumps

字面:在垃圾堆里低落

实际:情绪极其低落

例句:You look down in the dumps. What happened?

你看上去情绪很低落,发生什么事情了?

5. have a bone to pick with...

字面:跟某人有个骨头要挑

实际:有事找某人算账

例句:Meet me in my office after work.

I have a bone to pick with you.

下班后来我办公室,我要跟你算个账。
