Electric vehicles are expected to outsell cars with internal combustion engines in China for the first time next year, in a historic inflection point that puts the world’s biggest car market years ahead of western rivals.
明年中国电动汽车销量将首次超过内燃机汽车销量,这意味着,世界最大汽车市场将比西方国家早几年达到这个历史性拐点。


China is set to smash international forecasts and Beijings official targets with domestic EV sales including pure battery and plug-in hybrids growing about 20 per cent year on year to more than 12mn cars in 2025, according to the latest estimates supplied to the Financial Times by four investment banks and research groups. The figure would be more than double the 5.9mn sold in 2022.

At the same time, sales of traditionally powered cars are expected to fall by more than 10 per cent next year to less than 11mn, reflecting a near 30 per cent plunge from 14.8mn in 2022.

The number of Londoners swapping the capital for a home in the countryside is at its lowest in more than 10 years after a decade of rapid house price rises in the rest of the UK.

London residents purchased 5.7 per cent — or 57,020 — of the homes sold outside the capital this year, the lowest share since 2013 and nearly half the Covid-era peak in 2021, according to research by estate agent Hamptons.

Property prices have risen 26 per cent in London over the past decade, compared with 39 per cent elsewhere in the country, according to Hamptons, which analysed data from about 650 branches of fellow estate agent Countrywide.

South Korea’s main opposition party is seeking to impeach the acting president, deepening the country’s political crisis after President Yoon Suk Yeol’s failed power grab and impeachment this month.
韩国主要反对党正寻求弹劾代总统,这加深了在尹锡悦(Yoon Suk Yeol)总统本月权力攫取失败并被弹劾后的国家政治危机。


The Democratic Party of Korea on Thursday submitted a bill to parliament to impeach Han Duck-soo, who is also prime minister, after he resisted pressure to appoint three justices to fill vacancies on the country’s constitutional court.
韩国共同民主党周四向议会提交了一份议案,要求弹劾代总统兼国务总理韩德洙,此前韩德洙顶住了要求任命三名法官填补韩国宪法法院空缺的压力。


The opposition-controlled parliament had passed motions earlier in the day to approve the appointments. Yoon’s conservative ruling People Power party boycotted those votes.

Vacancies at open-air shopping centres in the US have dropped to historically low levels, defying forecasts of a retail apocalypse caused by the rise of ecommerce.

Landlords of complexes anchored by big-box chains, discount merchants and supermarkets have gained power to raise rents as leases expire. New construction has been stymied by higher interest rates and soaring building costs.

Only 6.2 per cent of outdoor shopping centre space is currently available for rent, according to property data company CoStar, the lowest since it began tracking availability in 2006. The trend stands in contrast with enclosed shopping malls, where vacancies are rising.
