Meta plans to add displays to its Ray-Ban smart glasses as soon as next year, as the US tech giant accelerates its plans to build lightweight headsets that can usurp the smartphone as consumers’ main computing device.

The $1.5tn social media group is planning to add a screen inside the $300 sunglasses it makes and sells in partnership with eyewear group EssilorLuxottica, according to people familiar with the plans.

It’s known for its stinky smell that repels many but has gained it a huge following from fruit lovers in China. Airlines on both sides of the Atlantic are bracing for their busiest Christmas season as tens of millions of passengers take to the skies.

The Federal Reserve is weighing “significant changes” to its annual stress tests for large US banks that would reduce volatility of tests’ results and make the process more transparent.

The Fed did not provide a detailed account of the changes but said they could amend models that calculate hypothetical losses for banks, averaging results over two years to lessen the risk of large year-on-year swings, and allow the public to comment on hypothetical scenarios each year before they are finalised.
