Chinese and French Artists Gathered in Nanshan: An Artistic Conversation from the Marvel Universe to Wandering Earth



On the afternoon of November 17th, Chinese/French Artists Exchange Program Season Ⅲ - "An Artistic Conversation from the Marvel Universe to Wandering Earth" Salon event was successfully held at the Linggan Square in Nantou Ancient City, Nanshan District, Shenzhen. This event was hosted by Nanshan District People's Government, organized by Foreign Affairs Office of Nanshan and Shekou Sub-district Office, co-organized by Nantou Sub-district Office and Southwind International SWI Co-Curatorial Team, supported by Nantou City Community Service Center and Nan Tou City. Chinese and French artists and science fiction writers gathered together for a deep dialogue on imaginative creation, jointly exploring the future direction of art development.

11月17日下午,第三季中法艺术大师国际交流系列活动——“从漫威宇宙到流浪地球的创意对话”沙龙活动在深圳南山区南头古城灵感广场成功举办。本次活动由南山区人民政府主办,南山区委外办、蛇口街道办事处承办,南头街道办事处、南风国际化SWI协办,并得到了南头城社区党群服务中心和深圳万通南头城管理运营有限公司的支持。中法艺术家、科幻作家和美术大师齐聚一堂,围绕想象力创作展开了深度对话,共同探讨未来艺术的发展方向。

This salon has invited several important guests from the Chinese and French art world, including Gilles Francescano,a famous French illustrator, president of the ART&FACT association of professional illustrators;  Nicolas Petrimaux, creator of the Il Faut Flinguer Ramirez series; Zhao Enzhe, Asia's first professional artist to win the Hugo Award, the first man of Chinese science fiction painting; Xiao Zhuangyue, CG artist, founder of the XRCG Academy and Liang Chaopo, a film and television special effects expert, major works including The Wandering Earth 2.

本次沙龙对话邀请了多位中法艺术界的重量级嘉宾,包括法国著名插画师Gilles Francescano,漫画《干掉拉米雷斯》创作者Nicolas Petrimaux,亚洲首位获得雨果奖的职业艺术家、中国科幻绘画第一人赵恩哲,中国CG艺术教育领军人物、XRCG学院创始人肖壮悦,以及参与《流浪地球2》制作的影视特效专家梁潮坡。

Zhao Enzhe delivered a speech on the theme of "Wisdom Revival", sharing his unique insights and valuable experience in artistic creation. He pointed out that the progress of each generation of tools is a leap of imagination, especially in today's rapidly developing digital technology, where this trend is particularly significant. Zhao Enzhe emphasized that modern artists should break away from rigid thinking and actively use the latest technological tools such as OpenAI's SORA, Runway, and Pika. These tools can not only improve creative efficiency, but also make art more accessible to the public, achieving a transformation from minority to public. Zhao said that art creation should not be limited to the display of a single work, but should build a rich and colorful world.

赵恩哲带来了主题为《智慧复兴》的演讲,分享了他在艺术创作方面的独特见解和宝贵经验。他指出,每一代工具的进步都是想象力的一次飞跃,尤其是在数字技术迅速发展的今天,这一趋势尤为显著。赵恩哲强调,现代艺术家应当跳出传统匠人思维,积极拥抱如OpenAI的SORA、Runway和Pika等最新技术工具。这些工具不仅能提升创作效率,还能使艺术更加贴近大众,实现从小众到大众的转变。“艺术创作不应仅限于单一作品的展示,而应构建一个丰富多彩的世界。”赵恩哲说道。

In the field of game development, Zhao Enzhe pointed out that with the partial automation of production pipelines, there will be more "super individuals" who are proficient in the entire process in the future. These talents are able to independently complete complex projects. By delegating repetitive tasks to tools, designers can focus more on creativity and create more exquisite works. He used TriPO3D as an example to demonstrate how individuals can complete tasks that previously required teamwork.

在游戏开发领域,赵恩哲指出,随着生产管线的部分自动化,未来将涌现更多精通全流程的“超级个体”。这些人才能够独立完成复杂的项目,通过将重复性任务交给工具处理,设计师可以更专注于创意,创造更为精致的作品。他以TriPO3D为例,展示了个人如何完成以往需要团队合作的任务。


Zhao Enzhe also explored the phenomenon of "sinking" in artistic creation. With the development of artificial intelligence technology, especially the intelligent painting tools provided by platforms such as OpenAI, art creation is gradually becoming popular, lowering the threshold for creation, promoting the deep integration of art and technology, and driving the industrial revolution of popular visual art. He cited the viewpoint of "The Crowd" and pointed out that the rise of "super individuals" has opened up new possibilities for artistic creation. Zhao Enzhe also said to everyone: “May all those who has dreams, without fear of the passage of time, always maintain a curiosity about this world.”

赵恩哲还探讨了艺术创作的“下沉”现象。随着人工智能技术的发展,特别是OpenAI等平台提供的智能绘画工具,艺术创作正逐渐大众化,降低了创作门槛,促进了艺术与科技的深度融合,推动了大众视觉艺术的工业革命。他引用《乌合之众》的观点,指出“超级个体”的兴起为艺术创作开辟了新的可能性。最后,赵恩哲还寄语大家:“愿所有怀揣梦想的人们,无惧岁月流逝,永远保持一颗对这个世界的好奇心!”

Gilles Francescano:手绘艺术的魅力




Gilles Francescano, a famous French illustrator, has been working in the field of illustration since 1989, specializing in science fiction and fantasy themes. At the Chinese/French Art Salon, he introduced one of his masterpieces - “The Magician's Young Man”, a detailed black and white illustration that took him a whole week to finish. He emphasizes that he does not use AI technology during the  creation process, and that this hand-painted process allows him to immerse himself more deeply in the world of painting, and is also a way of respecting and paying homage to the original.

法国著名插画师Gilles Francescano自1989年起便投身于插画领域,专注于科幻与奇幻题材。沙龙对话上,Gilles Francescano介绍了自己的代表作之一——《魔术师的年轻人》,这是一幅极其细腻的黑白插画,耗费了他整整一周的时间。Francescano强调,他创作时不使用AI技术,这种手工绘制的过程使他能更深入地沉浸在作品的世界中,也是他对原著的一种尊重与致敬。


Francescano shared his impressions of Shenzhen as a “science fiction city”, especially the buildings, which seem to come from the infinite creativity of the architects. He mentioned his experience at the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning, which not only looked futuristic, but also inspired him.

Francescano分享了他对深圳这座城市的美好印象,称其为“科幻小说般的城市”,尤其是那些建筑,仿佛出自建筑师们的无限创意。他提到在深圳当代艺术博物馆的经历,认为这座城市不仅外观上充满了未来感,而且激发了他的创作灵感。


In the end, Francescano presented an illustration rich in profound implications, showing flowers growing tenaciously through cracks in the concrete. It not only celebrates the power of life, but also contains his hopes for the future, symbolizing hope and rebirth.

最后,Francescano展示了一幅寓意深刻的插画——在混凝土裂缝中顽强生长的鲜花,这不仅是对生命力的颂扬,也寄寓了他对未来的美好期待,希望这样的景象能够持续涌现,象征着希望与重生。

Xiao Zhuangyue introduced XRCG Academy, which he founded in 2012 in his keynote speech “Paint Dreams and Create the World”. The academy is dedicated to cultivating high-end talents in the fields of games and animation, and has so far provided more than 5,000 professionals to the games and animation industry, with its influence spreading all over the world. The XRCG team gathers a lot of senior artists and concept designers in the industry, whose works cover a number of internationally renowned projects ranging from StarCraft to League of Legends, and provides high-quality art development and services for a number of domestic and international projects, which has formed a good reputation in the industry. XRCG has provided high-quality art development services for many projects at home and abroad, and has formed a good reputation.

Xiao Zhuangyue especially shared his representative works. Among them, “Infrastructure of China” is a creative work themed on China's construction achievements in recent years. Over 50 iconic buildings and engineering projects, including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Beijing Daxing International Airport, are integrated into a circular space station in a futuristic world by means of being overhead, showing China's brilliant achievements in infrastructure construction.

肖壮悦特别分享了他的代表作品。其中,《共和国基建》是一部以中国近年来建设成就为主题的创意作品。通过架空的方式,将包括港珠澳大桥、北京大兴国际机场在内的50多个标志性建筑和工程项目融入到一个未来世界的环形空间站中,展现了中国在基础设施建设方面的辉煌成就。

In addition, Xiao Zhuangyue displayed more than 10 works, including “King's Soul”, “Heartland”, “Initiation”, “Final Attack at Dawn” and “Misty Siege”, as well as the original works of students from XRCG Academy, which fully demonstrated the charm of the combination of art and technology, and at the same time embodied the concern for and reflection on social issues.

此外,肖壮悦还展示了《王魂》、《心脏地带》、《启动》、《黎明总攻》、《迷雾围城》等10多幅作品,以及XRCG学院学生的原创作品,充分展现了艺术与技术结合的魅力,同时也体现了对社会问题的关注和反思。

Renowned French comic artist Nicolas Petrimaux shared his insights on comic narrative and storyboarding art. He first emphasized the importance of "perspective, storyline, and creativity." Perspective determines how the story is presented to the audience, and different perspectives can provide vastly different viewing experiences. The storyline serves as the core of the narrative, ensuring the coherence of the plot and clarity of its objectives. Creativity is key to driving innovation in the story, capturing the audience's interest, and making the narrative more engaging.

法国著名漫画家Nicolas Petrimaux介绍了自己对漫画叙事和分镜艺术的理解,他首先强调了“视角、主线、创意”的重要性。视角决定了故事如何呈现给观众,不同的视角可以带来截然不同的观影体验;主线则是故事的核心,保证了情节的连贯性和目标的明确性;而创意则是推动故事创新的关键,它能够吸引观众的兴趣,让故事更加引人入胜。


Building on this foundation, the idea of "a beginning and an end" ensures the structural integrity of the story. Clarifying the hierarchy of ideas helps in constructing a complex yet organized plot. Dialogue not only propels the plot but also reveals character personalities. Careful design of settings and character movements enhances the visual effects. Creating atmosphere is crucial for generating specific emotions, allowing the audience to resonate with the story. The management of pacing is vital for maintaining the audience's interest. Camera composition and the handling of movement require the director to focus on visual expression, ensuring that each shot is expressive. A consistent tone and smooth transitions guarantee a unified style throughout the work, ensuring seamless connections between the various parts to form a complete and harmonious artistic piece. Nicolas Petrimaux stated that this comprehensive and meticulous approach to creation has a profound impact on all fields of visual arts.

在此基础上,“一个开端 一个结局”确保了故事结构的完整性,给观众留下深刻印象。理清想法的层次有助于构建复杂但有序的情节,使故事更加丰富。对话不仅推进剧情发展,还能展现角色性格,增加故事的深度。布景与角色动作的精心设计,能够强化视觉效果,提升观众的沉浸感。情调与氛围的营造,则是创造特定情绪的关键,使观众能够与故事产生共鸣。节奏的掌握对于维持观众兴趣至关重要,适当的快慢变化可以使故事更加吸引人。镜头控制(构图)和动感的把握,要求导演在视觉表达上下功夫,确保每个镜头都富有表现力。调子统一与过渡衔接保证了整部作品的风格一致,使得各个部分能够无缝对接,共同构建出一部完整且协调的艺术作品。Nicolas Petrimaux表示,这种全面而细致的创作方法,对于任何视觉艺术领域都有着深远的影响。

Liang Chaopo: The

Journey of Pursuing Dreams




  梁潮坡:影视特效的追梦之旅



Specialist in special effects for film and television, Liang Chaopo, shared his career development and personal struggles. 1997, after watching the film Wind and Rain, Liang Chaopo was deeply attracted by the special effects in the film, and developed a dream of seeing his name in the subtitles of China's biggest films in the future. 2007, he came to Shenzhen and worked as a programmer in a foreign company, which began his inexorable relationship with special effects for film. 2015, Liang Chaopo founded his own special effects company and his first project was to provide special effects support for the unveiling of an ancient ship in Spain, a project that not only entertained him, but also deepened his love for the special effects industry.

影视特效专家梁潮坡分享了他的职业发展和个人奋斗的历程。1997年,观看电影《风雨》后,梁潮坡被电影中的特效深深吸引,萌生了将来能够在中国最大电影的字幕中看到自己名字的梦想。2007年,他来到深圳,在一家外资公司担任程序员,开始了与电影特效的不解之缘。2015年,梁潮坡创立了自己的特效公司,首个项目是为西班牙的一条古船揭幕仪式提供特效支持,这个项目不仅让他感到愉快,还加深了他对特效行业的热爱。

He particularly mentioned their involvement in the VFX production of Wandering Earth, especially responsible for the moon explosion scene.In order to complete this arduous task before the Spring Festival of 2023, the team members worked overtime for several months, and finally succeeded in presenting stunning visual effects, which became an important achievement for special effects science fiction films in China.

他特别提到,他们参与《流浪地球》的特效制作,特别是负责了月球爆炸的场景。为了在2023年春节前完成这项艰巨的任务,团队成员连续数月加班加点,最终成功地呈现了令人震撼的视觉效果,成为国内特效科幻电影的重要成果。


Recently, the animation production of the Shenzhen-China Corridor completed by his guidance to college students in Shenzhen was officially screened on CCTV.This work shows the construction process of this world-class cross-sea channel in one shot, which is not only a technical challenge, but also a tribute to the wisdom and efforts of Chinese builders.Liang Chopo expressed his hope that by sharing his story, he could inspire more people to bravely pursue their dreams, and at the same time contribute to the promotion of China's film and TV special effects industry.

最近,由他指导深圳的大学生完成的深中通道动画制作在央视正式上映。这部作品以一镜到底的方式展现了这座世界级跨海通道的建造过程,不仅是一次技术上的挑战,更是对中国建设者智慧与努力的致敬。梁潮坡表示,希望通过分享,让自己的故事激励更多的人勇敢追求自己的梦想,同时为推动中国影视特效行业的发展贡献力量。



The salon not only provided a platform for Chinese and French artists to exchange ideas, but also brought a feast of vision and thoughts to art lovers in Shenzhen. The event was packed and the audience listened with great devotion. A young sci-fi enthusiast said, "Being able to listen to these masters' sharing up close is a great inspiration for me. I not only learnt a lot of professional knowledge, but also felt the infinite possibilities behind artistic creation." After the event, many audience could not get enough of the event and came forward to communicate with the guests and take photos. The success of the event not only promoted cultural exchange between China and France, but also laid a solid foundation for future artistic innovation and cooperation.

本次沙龙活动不仅为中法两国艺术家提供了一个交流的平台,也为深圳的艺术爱好者带来了一场视觉和思想的盛宴。活动现场座无虚席,观众们听得非常投入。一位年轻的科幻爱好者表示:“能够近距离聆听这些大师的分享,对我来说是一次巨大的鼓舞。我不仅学到了很多专业知识,还感受到了艺术创作背后的无限可能。”活动结束后,许多观众还意犹未尽,纷纷上前与嘉宾交流,合影留念。活动的成功举办不仅促进了中法文化交流,也为未来的艺术创新和合作奠定了坚实的基础。
