The newly-released "Beijing Unicorn Companies List 2024" reveals that Beijing is home to 115 unicorn companies, with a total valuation of 594.9 billion dollars, maintaining its position at the top of China’s national rankings. The AI sector leads, with over 20 unicorn companies. Unicorn companies are high-growth, innovative companies founded in the last decade, valued at over 1 billion dollars and not yet publicly listed.
1月6日，《北京市独角兽企业名单（2024）》发布，截至2024年12月31日，北京市共有独角兽企业115家，总估值5949亿美元，数量和估值持续保持全国第一。人工智能是北京独角兽企业数量最多的产业领域，达20余家。独角兽企业是指成立时间不超过10年、估值超过10亿美元、未上市的高成长性创新企业。

On January 8, the 2024 Hurun China Artificial Intelligence Enterprises Top 50 list was unveiled in Beijing E-Town. Beijing leads the list with 20 companies, accounting for 40% of the total. The city also ranked among the top three cities globally in the number of "Gazelle Companies," alongside Shanghai and San Francisco, according to the Hurun Future Unicorns – Global Gazelles Index 2024, a list of the world’s fastest growing startups founded in the 2000s and most likely to become unicorn companies within three years.
8日，胡润研究院在亦庄发布《2024胡润中国人工智能企业50强》榜单，北京以20家企业上榜的成绩领先全国，占据50强企业四成。同日发布的《2024胡润全球瞪羚企业榜》显示，上海、旧金山、北京位列全球瞪羚企业数量最多的城市前三名。据介绍，《2024胡润全球瞪羚企业榜》榜单列出了全球成立于2000年之后，三年内最有可能达到独角兽级十亿美金估值的高成长性企业。

北京再推两款入境支付创新产品
Beijing launched two new products aiming to make payment more convenient for foreign visitors, the "Changyoutong" device and the "Mifang Card," both debuting in Beijing Capital International Airport on January 9. After topping up, users can insert a physical UnionPay card into the "Changyoutong" device to enable QR code payments. The "Mifang Card" provides SIM-based mobile services, including calls, internet access, digital RMB payments, and Beijing public transportation access.
为提升外籍来华人士的支付便利性，北京再推两款全国首创的入境支付与通信便利融合新产品——最新研发的“畅游通”设备和“幂方卡”卡片。充值完成后将实体银联卡插入“畅游通”设备里，就可以实现展码支付，设备兼具WIFI上网、扫码支付和语音翻译等多种功能。“幂方卡”卡片以SIM 卡为载体，用户办理后，插卡即可获得通话、上网、数字人民币支付以及北京城市公共交通乘车等多种功能。
北京机场设置一站式服务点
方便外国游客
One-stop service counters opened in January in the international arrival halls of Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport. Foreign travelers can visit the counters to make cash withdrawals using their bank cards, exchange currency, and get help with downloading local mobile payment apps. They can also purchase SIM cards, access airport Wi-Fi, customize travel itineraries, and make reservations for tourist sites.
北京市连续出台便利外国人在京服务措施，持续深化高水平对外开放。1月1日起，首都机场和大兴机场在国际到达出口显著位置设置北京服务（机场服务点）。机场服务点设置在旅客到达层的主动线上。各项服务功能分区排布，支付服务专区提供外卡取现、外币兑换、支付方式咨询、移动支付App下载等服务，通信服务专区提供手机SIM卡办理、机场Wi-Fi连接等服务，文旅服务专区提供旅游路线定制、景点预约购票等服务，交通服务专区提供多用途交通卡、机场巴士、地铁票购买等服务。
去年北京举办大型活动1840余场
安全事故零发生
In 2024, Beijing hosted over 1,840 large-scale events with no safety incidents. The city’s public security departments implemented multiple measures to ensure safety, coordinating across 20 departments, to ensure minimal disruption to public transportation during events such as city marathons.
6万名观众同步散场，四道人墙筑起安全防线；20余个部门协同作战，在演出现场全方位保驾护航；马拉松路线实施“滚动管控”，最大程度降低对市民出行的影响……过去一年，北京成功举办各类大型活动1840余场，交出了一份完美的“平安答卷”。首都警方全力以赴，不断提升大型活动的安全保障水平，实现安全事故零发生。
北京已实现轻微交通事故

In 2024, 510,000 traffic accidents were handled remotely in Beijing, accounting for 65% of all minor incidents. The remote system processed an average of 1,400 cases per day, with an average processing time of just 16.8 minutes. After reporting an accident, the average wait time for police response was reduced to just 0.99 minutes.
2024年，北京交警远程处理中心已累计远程处理交通事故51万多起，约占轻微事故总量的65%，日均处理能力达到1400起，群众报警后平均等待时长仅为0.99分钟，事故远程处理平均用时压减到16.8分钟，更好服务群众出行。

亮相2025北京图书订货会
The 37th Beijing Book Fair will be held from January 9 to 11 at the China International Exhibition Center (Chaoyang Hall). The event features more than 400,000 books across a 50,000 sqm exhibition space, including a new area dedicated to cultural and creative products. Over 400 activities showcasing the publishing and distribution industry's achievements will be held.

时隔15年，崇文门菜市场回来了！
On January 8, the Chongwenmen Market, a major grocery market in Beijing built in 1976, reopened after being closed for 15 years. The market with traditional style counters attracted many loyal customers who revisited on its opening day. The newly renovated 2,400 square meter market already has 100 vendors.
1月8日，崇文门菜市场在摩方购物中心地下二层开门迎客，时隔15年，老菜市场重回原址。新开业的菜市场沿用传统柜台式经营，烟火气十足，不少老主顾特意赶在开业第一天回来买菜。崇文门菜市场建于1976年，与东单菜市场、西单菜市场、朝内菜市场合称为京城四大菜市场。老菜市场的回归，为崇文门再添一处“打卡”新地标。新崇文门菜市场经营面积达2400平方米，目前已有近百家商户入驻。
王府井打造首店首发集中地

Wangfujing, one of Beijing's busiest shopping districts, attracted 130 million visitors in 2024, a 30% year-on-year increase. In 2025, Wangfujing will continue to thrive by opening at least 45 new first stores and flagship stores, positioning itself as a hub for product launches, exhibitions, and brand debuts.
2024年王府井地区共接待客流1.3亿人次，日均客流量35.5万人次，同比增长30%。2025年，王府井将持续繁荣首店经济，全年引入至少45家首店、旗舰店，着力打造成首店首发、首秀首展集中地，加快培育从首发到首店再到总部的首发经济效应。
龙庆峡冰灯点亮潮酷嘉年华

The annual Longqing Gorge Ice Lantern Art Festival will open on the evening of January 10 and run until February 28. This year’s festival will incorporate popular trends such as PopMart elements and the Chinese folklore tale "Journey to the West”, along with elements of the Year of the Snake. Visitors will enjoy a spectacular winter wonderland experience.
