2023年7月28日,《亚洲经济期刊》特刊研讨会“迈向新时代:人工智能、数字化转型与经济发展”(Journal of Asian Economics Special Issue, Towards a New Age: AI, Digital Transformation and Economic Development)在浙江大学经济学院顺利举行。本次会议是加拿大跨国公司国际研究会会同浙大主办Transnational Corporations Review(TNCR)与SSCI期刊合作以扩大影响的重要活动。 会议开幕式由浙大经济学院国际经济系副主任、TNCR执行主编杨高举副教授主持,经济学院副院长余林徽教授、加拿大跨国公司国际研究会执行秘书长江风先生共同致辞。国经系副主任、TNCR执行主编张洪胜副教授介绍了TNCR与其它期刊合作情况及后续安排。吉林大学廖红伟教授、张弘媛助理教授、刘紫薇助理教授,浙江外国语学院杜龙政教授、李伟庆副教授、尹靖华副教授,湖北大学邵勖副教授等参加会议。 开幕式后,研讨会按“数字经济赋能经济高质量发展”、“数字化赋能可持续发展”、“数字化赋能贸易高质量发展”、“数字化赋能开放型经济高质量发展”主题,由投稿作者开展了四个分论坛报告。分论坛由江风主编、廖红伟教授和张洪胜副教授和杨高举副教授等主持并进行点评。 会上各报告人对其论文初稿作了展示,点评人对不同论文亮点和需要进一步完善之处做了点评,与会人员还就论文相关问题展开了热烈探讨,有效促进了学术交流,为特刊论文质量提升奠定了基础。在热烈的讨论氛围中,会议圆满结束。Seminar for JAE Special IssueHeld in Zhejiang UniversityArtificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation are exerting an increasing impact on our economy and society. Against this background, JAE decided to launch a special issue dedicated to discussing the impact of digitalization and AI on the economic development of Asian countries. This special issue also aims to provide in-depth analysis and understanding of the economic and technological forces behind the digital transformation in Asia, particularly China.To improve the quality of submitted papers, on July 28, 2023, JAE’s managing guest editor Hugh Dang and Transnational Corporations Review (TNCR) of the School of Economics of Zhejiang University jointly held a symposium entitled “Towards a New Age: AI, Digital Transformation and Economic Development” at Zijingang Campus of Zhejiang University.The opening ceremony of the symposium was presided over by Associate Professor Yang Gaoju, deputy director of the Department of International Economics and managing editor of TNCR. Professor Yu Linhui, vice dean of the School of Economics, and Hugh Dang, executive secretary-general of Canada Transnational Corporations Council of Studies (TNCCS), delivered speeches together. Associate Professor Zhang Hongsheng, deputy director of the Department of International Economics and co-managing editor of TNCR, introduced the cooperation between TNCR and other journals and the follow-up arrangements of the international conference “Towards a New Age: Digital Transformation in the Asian Economy” jointly held by Zhejiang University, TNCCS Canada and Elsevier UK in March 2024. Professor Liao Hongwei, Assistant Professor Zhang Hongyuan, and Assistant Professor Liu Ziwei from Jilin University, Professor Du Longzheng, Associate Professor Li Weiqing, and Associate Professor Yin Jinghua from Zhejiang International Studies University, and Associate Professor Shao Xu from Hubei University and other PhD students attended the meeting.The seminar consisted of four sub-forums, the themes of which were "Digital Economy Empowers High-Quality Economic Development", "Digitalization Empowers Sustainable Development", "Digitalization Empowers High-quality Trade Development", "Digitalization Empowers High-Quality Development of Open Economy". The four sub-forums were chaired and commented by managing guest editor Hugh Dang, Professor Liao Hongwei, Associate Professor Yang Gaoju, and Associate Professor Zhang Hongsheng.In the first sub-forum, Huang Qianying from Hunan University, Associate Professor Shao Xu from Hubei University, Assistant Professor Zhang Hongyuan from Jilin University, Zhu Yi from Donghua University, and Zhang Qibin from Zhejiang Gongshang University presented papers respectively titled “Breaking the Credit Barrier: How Digital Inclusive Finance Empowers SMEs”, “Reshaping Cities’ Industry Assignment in the Digital Economy: Mechanisms and Implications”, “How Artificial Intelligence Affects International Industrial Transfer: An Empirical Analysis Based on Value Added of Trade”, “How Artificial Intelligence Applications Affect Total Factor Productivity of Service Industry: Firm-level Evidence from China”, “China’s Urban Digital Patent Scale and Patent Knowledge Breadth Spatial-temporal Evolution Characteristics and Influencing Factors”.In the second sub-forum, Gurbanova Natalia from Jilin University, Associate Professor Yin Jinghua and Professor Du Longzheng from Zhejiang International Studies University, Qi Qiao from Northeastern University, Wang Changming from Jilin University, and Wang Xiaolong from Xi'an University of Technology presented their papers respectively titled “Digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence in the Sustainable Development of International Trade between China and Russia”, “Can smart governance promote urban sustainable development: Empirical evidence from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hangzhou”, “How does digital environmental governance affect corporate economic efficiency: Company-level evidence from China”, “Does ESG advantage alleviate the Penrose effect of accelerated internationalization-The role of Digital transformation”, “The Haze Reduction Effect under the Digital Economy”, “Digital Transformation and Enterprise Resilience: Impact Mechanisms and China’s Experience”.In the third sub-forum, Hyuk Chung from Chung-Ang University, Miao Oujing and Du Yutong from Zhejiang University, Li Weiqing from Zhejiang International Studies University, Zhang Chaoshuai from Jilin University, and Wang Bingjie from Central University of Finance and Economics presented papers respectively titled "Differential impact of heterogenous innovation capabilities on export performance amid the digital transformation", "Smart city construction and quality improvement of enterprise export product: evidence from China", "Robot Adoption and Export Sophistication: Firm-Level Evidence from China", "How does Artificial Intelligence Affect the Export of Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises", "Digital Transformation and The Export Market Expansion of Enterprises: Evidence from Listed Companies in China", "How Does Digital Technology Affect Trade In Services?".In the fourth sub-forum, Wu Peng from Zhejiang University, Liu Ziwei from Jilin University, Xue Haoting from Zhejiang University, Chen Jiayi from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Lu Yuxin from Beijing Technology and Business University presented papers respectively titled "The Impact of Robot Adoption on Firm’s OFDI: Evidence from China", "How Does Development and Difference in Host Countries' Digital Economy Affect Chinese Firms' Cross-Border M&A", "Industrial Intelligence and Domestic Value-Added Ratio in Exports", "External Demand, Digital Empowerment and Corporate Innovation", "Differences and Evolution of International Digital Economy Development". At the seminar, the participants made a presentation of their draft papers, and the reviewers made comments on the highlights of different papers and the areas that need further improvement. The participants conducted heated discussions on the content of the papers, which effectively promoted academic exchanges and laid the foundation for the improvement of the quality of JAE special issue papers. In the heated discussion atmosphere, the seminar ended successfully.
