12月19日上午,英语组邱莉老师开设校级骨干教师示范课《Let’s celebrate!》,相关学科组教师和南师大泰州学院的见习生参加了听课、评课活动。
本单元的主题为“Let’s celebrate!”,隶属于“人与社会”主题范畴,主题群为“历史、社会与文化”,涉及“节日与庆祝活动”子主题内容。本课为七年级上册第八单元的第二课时,话题为“新年庆祝方式”,语篇是一个讲述世界各地不同的新年庆祝方式的视频脚本,介绍了土耳其、希腊、丹麦和南美洲的哥伦比亚四国的新年传统习俗及其文化内涵。通过语篇学习可以帮助学生了解异国节日文化,拓宽学生的国际视野,启发学生体悟看似不同的新年传统习俗实际表达了相近的文化内涵——对未来的美好憧憬和祝福。
【教学设计】
Step1 Revision
Present pictures of festivals on P93 and have students pick one picture and answer the name of the festival. The teacher can also ask some other questions about the festival.
Step2 Warm up
Have students answer the questions from three aspects:
How do we celebrate Chinese New Year? (Before the Spring Festival/ On the New Year’s Eve/ During the Spring Festival)
Step3 Pre- reading
1. Have students read the guide on the top of page 94 and answer the following questions.
(1) What is the theme of the script?
(2) What is the text type of the passage?
2. Have students skim the video script and work out the structure of the video script.
Step 4 While-reading
1. Scanning
(1) Read Part 1 quickly and answer: How can people be a good presenter?
(2) Scan Part 2, circle the countries and answer:
How many countries are mentioned in the script? What are they?
2. Careful reading
(1) Scan Part 2 again, complete the sentences and match the picture with the country.
(2) Have students read Part 2 carefully and complete the table below:
3. Pair work Make a dialogue: pick one picture and talk about it.
A: Look at picture 1/2/3/4. What is/are... doing?
B: He/ She is.... /They are...
A: Why does he/she do this? /Why do they do this?
B: ...
A: How interesting/ amazing!
4. Read Part 3 and answer:
Do you know any other interesting ways to celebrate New Year?
5. Further thinking
Is there anything in common about New Year celebrations?
Step 5 Post-reading
(1) Have students read the video script again and finish B on page 95.
(2) Which of the celebrations in the four countries interests you most? Why?
(3) People often use the phrase “out with the old, in with the new” when they celebrate New Year. What does it mean in Chinese?
(4) Have students finish C on page 96.
Step 6 Homework
(1) Retell the video script;
(2) Remember the new words and phrases;
(3) Finish the related exercises.

读前环节,先通过回忆已知的节日,激活学生的前置经验,并鼓励学生畅所欲言中国人庆祝新年的方式,为本节课的学习做准备。
读中环节,教师首先引导学生通过阅读背景信息,获取文章体裁与大意。然后,通过阅读文本,梳理文章结构和主要内容,了解土耳其、希腊、丹麦、哥伦比亚四国的新年习俗及其文化内涵,分析其语言特征,归纳节日介绍的主题词汇和语言表达,实现知识的结构化。在此过程中,鼓励学生聚焦文本细节,完成教材A部分和B部分内容。
读后环节,教师开展了提高思维品质的迁移创新类活动教师引导学生深入思考不同国家采用不同的方式庆祝新年的根本原因,探究其背后的文化内涵;鼓励学生运用所学知识技能、方法策略等在新的情境中自由表达,促进能力向素养的转化。
