MUMBAI, June 9 (Reuters) - India's markets regulator has proposed tighter rules on trading in individual stock derivatives, arguing the rules were needed to avert risks of market manipulation after recent explosive growth particularly in options trading.
The move comes after two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters in April that India's top financial regulators would form a committee to assess stability risks emerging from a surge in derivatives markets.

BENGALURU, June 10 (Reuters) - India's mutual fund assets rose to 58.6 trillion rupees ($701.90 billion) in May, inching closer to adding 10 trillion rupees in less than a year, the fastest rise on record, data showed on Monday.
While the fund industry took five decades to build the first 10 trillion rupees of assets since its inception in 1964, it has added 9 trillion rupees of assets in less than six months.
Inflows into equity mutual funds rose 83% month-on-month to 346.97 billion rupees last month, with investors continuing to prefer small- and mid-caps, according to data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI).

NEW DELHI: Air India issued a statement on Sunday regarding the June 8 incident at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, where two aircraft narrowly avoided a collision on the same runway. According to the airline, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) had cleared its Mumbai-Trivandrum flight for takeoff.
"AI657 from Mumbai to Trivandrum was on take-off roll on June 8.The Air India aircraft was cleared by Air Traffic Control to enter the runway and subsequently cleared for take-off. The Air India aircraft continued with the take-off roll in accordance with laid down procedures," the statement read.
The airline further added that authorities have initiated an investigation to examine the clearance process provided to the flights.
The incident involved IndiGo flight 5053, arriving from Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport (IDR), which was landing on Runway 27, while Air India flight 657 was in the process of taking off for Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV). Both aircraft were Airbus A320neo models, and the near-simultaneous landing and takeoff created a dangerous situation early on the morning of June 8.

Mumbai:The Customs department seized 4,600 used laptops and more than 1,000 computer parts of various brands worth ₹ 4.11 crore in Nhava Sheva, an official said on Monday.
Based on a tip-off, officials of the Special Intelligence and Investigation Branch (SIIB) (Import) at Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House (JNCH) recently seized the electronic goods from a consignment from UAE, the official said.
The seized laptops and 1,546 CPUs, worth ₹ 4.11 crore, were imported from UAE while the supplier was based in Hong Kong, he said.
Importing such goods without proper authorisation is restricted as per the policy of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
