Foreign Minister S Jaishankar met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Thursday in Kazakhstan. The two agreed to enhance talks to resolve border issues, according to a statement from New Delhi.

Jaishankar met Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Astana. They agreed that the prolongation of the current situation in the border areas is not in the interest of either side. Both ministers decided to enhance meetings between their diplomatic and military officials to resolve the remaining issues at the earliest, according to a statement from the Indian foreign ministry.

China and India should properly handle their differences and ensure relations advance on a stable track, said a Chinese foreign ministry statement quoting Wang Yi during talks. Wang emphasised the need to maintain a positive mindset and control the situation in border areas while resuming normal exchanges.

 India has initiated an anti-dumping probe into the import of Chinese lift guide rails following a complaint by a domestic player.

The commerce ministry's investigation arm Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) is probing the alleged dumping of 'T-Shaped Elevator/Lift Guide Rails and Counterweight Guide Rails' from China.

 Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Retail Ventures will launch Chinese fast fashion label Shein in the coming weeks, selling the latter's products on its app and brick-and-mortar stores, The Economic Times reported.

The retail unit of Ambani's oil-to-telecom conglomerate Reliance Industries reportedly teamed up with the IPO-bound fashion brand last year and will most likely tap former Meta director Manish Chopra to head Shein's operations in India, ET reported, citing executives aware of the development.

The partnership is the latest in a string of deals by Reliance Retail, which has brought international brands such as American jewellery maker Tiffany & Co and British online retailer ASOS to India.

New Delhi — At least 121 people were killed in a stampede at a religious gathering in central India's Uttar Pradesh state on Tuesday, police said, as an investigation into the organizers was launched and the Hindu guru who hosted the event disappeared. The Uttar Pradesh government ordered a judicial probe into the stampede, and the state police force registered a case against the organisers.

MUMBAI, July 4 (Reuters) - India's cut and polished diamond exports have been faltering due to weak demand from the key market, China, and they are unlikely to stabilize unless the government provides support to the industry, the head of a leading trade body said on Thursday.

India is the world's largest centre for cutting and polishing diamonds, accounting for nine out of 10 diamonds polished globally.

China accounts for around a third of India's cut and polished diamond exports and primarily buys through Hong Kong.

BENGALURU, July 3 (Reuters) - Growth in India's dominant services industry accelerated last month, buoyed by strong demand and a record rise in export orders, according to a business survey that also showed companies were hiring at the fastest in nearly two years.

HSBC's India Services Purchasing Managers' Index compiled by S&P Global, rose to 60.5 in June from 60.2 in May, close to a Reuters poll median forecast of 60.6 and a preliminary reading of 60.4.

NEW DELHI, July 1 (Reuters) - India's human rights watchdog said on Monday it had asked government officials to examine reported discrimination by Foxconn, after a found the major Apple supplier has been rejecting married women from iPhone assembly jobs in the country.

In a statement, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) said it had issued notices to the secretary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's labour ministry and the chief secretary of the state government of Tamil Nadu, site of a major iPhone factory, calling for a detailed report within a week.

"NHRC observes that the matter, if true, raises a serious issue of discrimination against married women causing the violation of the right to equality and equal opportunity," it said.

NEW DELHI, June 29 (Reuters) - India's steel and trade ministries are in talks over rising imports, particularly cheap Chinese goods, a government source with direct knowledge of the matter said on Saturday, amid persistent calls for higher tariffs from top producers.

India turned net steel importer in the fiscal year that ended in March and the trend continues with its finished steel imports scaling a five-year high in April and May, according to provisional government data.

India imported 1.1 million metric tons of finished steel between April and May, up 19.8% from a year earlier.

New Delhi:Nearly 33,000 deaths in 10 cities in India every year can be attributed to air pollution levels that are below India's national clean air threshold. The report has been published in Lancet Planetary Health.

India's clean air norms are presently well above the World Health Organisation guideline of 15 micrograms in every cubic meter of air. The report makes the point that India must drastically reduce its clean air norms to at least match WHO guidelines to protect citizens from the dangers of polluted air.
