NEW DELHI, May 29 (Reuters) - India's weather department issued a red alert for several parts of the country's northwest on Wednesday, warning of a severe heat wave a day after parts of the capital Delhi recorded their highest temperature ever at almost 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit).

A red alert implies a "very high likelihood" of people developing "heat illness and heat stroke", and calls for "extreme care" for vulnerable people, according to the India Meteorological Department.

BENGALURU, May 27 (Reuters) - India will buy back 400 billion rupees ($4.81 billion) worth of government bonds, the country's central bank said on Monday.

The securities offered for buyback are four government bonds with maturity dates in the second half of 2024, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a statement.

 European auto company, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL), reported that it has manufactured over 1.5 million vehicles at its Chakan (Pune) facility since commencing operations at the Chakan plant in 2009. These include models from Volkswagen and Skoda, such as Skoda Kushaq, Slavia, and Volkswagen Taigun.

This aligns with the company’s 'Make in India' initiative, with over 30 per cent of its car production being exported to nearly 40 global markets. The Chakan facility, which started with the production of the Skoda Fabia, has since produced an array of models, including the Volkswagen Vento and Polo, and the Skoda Rapid. The latest additions to its lineup, the INDIA 2.0 range – Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus, Skoda Kushaq and Slavia – recently crossed the 300,000 units production mark.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed Gurugram-based Tesla Power India to file an affidavit detailing the stocks and sales of their electric vehicle scooters. This includes providing the names of dealers, dates of launch, and current stock availability.

The court's directives came in response to a petition filed by electric vehicle giant Tesla Inc. in a trademark infringement suit against Tesla Power India.

In a significant development, contract negotiations between the governments of India and France in the over Rs 50,000 crore deal for 26 Rafale Marine fighter jets is scheduled to begin on May 30 with the arrival of a high-level French team New Delhi.

The French side would meet with Indian Defence Ministry counterparts to begin official negotiations in the fighter jet deal for the Indian Navy under which aircraft would be operated from both aircraft carriers operated by the force, defence industry officials told ANI.

 Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) plans to establish at least 400 service touchpoints in the 2024-25 financial year (FY25) to meet the needs of various locations across the country where car density is higher, its Executive Officer (Service) Ram Suresh Akella told Business Standard on Tuesday.
