New Delhi:At least one person was killed and eight others injured after a portion of the roof of the Delhi airport's Terminal-1 collapsed on cars amid heavy rain this morning. All departures from Terminal 1 have been temporarily suspended, and check-in counters closed as a "safety measure", a Delhi airport spokesperson said. Terminal-1 has only domestic flight operations.

The spokesperson also said that all departing flights from T1 of IndiGo and SpiceJet are cancelled till 2 pm today.

New Delhi:Apple iPhone maker Foxconn has informed the government that 25 percent of its new hires are married women and its safety protocol, which requires all employees to avoid wearing metal irrespective of gender or religion, is not discriminatory, sources said.

In an informal note shared with the government after reports suggested it is not hiring married women, Foxconn stated that such stipulations are not part of its policy and these claims may have been made by those individuals who were not hired, sources said.

They added that such media reports malign the fast-growing Indian manufacturing sector.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Wednesday sought a detailed report from the Tamil Nadu labour department on the issue of married women not being allowed to work at the Foxconn India Apple iPhone Plant, as reported by the media.

MUMBAI, June 26 (Reuters) - Banks advising South Korean automaker Hyundai on its India IPO are set to make as much as $40 million in fees, three sources said, a windfall in a market where banks typically struggle to make money given cost-conscious clients and fewer big deals.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has approved new regulations to oversee unregistered financial influencers, commonly known as finfluencers, in response to growing concerns about the potential risks associated with their advice, which may be biased or misleading. These influencers often operate on a commission-based model.

In addition to regulating finfluencers, Sebi has introduced a fixed price process for delisting frequently traded shares and established a delisting framework for Investment and Holding Companies (IHC).

The regulator has also decided to remove financial disincentives for the managing director and chief technology officer of exchanges and other market infrastructure institutions (MIIs) in the event of technical glitches.

Finfluencers, have emerged as a significant force in the Indian stock market, providing investment advice and information to millions of retail investors through social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

BENGALURU, June 28 (Reuters) - Forecasts for a mild slowdown in India's fast-growing economy held steady in the first Reuters poll of economists since the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost its parliamentary majority in phased national elections that ended in early June.

Asia's third-largest economy grew 8.2% in the last fiscal year, the fastest among major economies. But growth is set to slow to 7.0% and then 6.7% in the current and next fiscal years, according to a June 19-27 Reuters poll of over 50 economists.

MUMBAI, June 27 (Reuters) - India's annual monsoon has covered more than three-fourths of the country and it is set to cover the entire country on time for the planting season despite stalling earlier this month, two senior weather officials said on Thursday.

Summer rains, critical for economic growth in Asia's third-largest economy, usually begin in the south around June 1 before spreading nationwide by July 8, allowing farmers to plant crops such as rice, cotton, soybeans, and sugarcane.

MUMBAI, June 26 (Reuters) - India on Wednesday allowed limited imports of corn, crude sunflower oil, refined rapeseed oil, and milk powder under the tariff-rate quota (TRQ), where importers pay nil or lower duty, as New Delhi tries to bring down food inflation.

India has allowed imports of 150,000 metric tons of sunflower oil or safflower oil, 500,000 tons of corn, 10,000 tons of milk powder and 150,000 tons of refined rapeseed oil, the government said.

Food inflation, driven by supply-side factors like adverse weather affecting crops, has remained at around 8% year-on-year since November 2023, preventing it from cutting interest rates.

Chennai:The industrial town of Hosur in Tamil Nadu is set to get an international airport, Chief Minister MK Stalin announced in the state assembly today.

"It will come up on a 2000 acre area with a capacity to handle 30 million passengers in a year" the Chief Minister said.

A master plan for Hosur is nearly ready said MK Stalin.  Hosur which has been a hub for electronic, automobile and automotive component manufacturing is now emerging to be a hotspot for electric vehicle and related component manufacturing as well.

New Delhi:India imposed anti-dumping duties on three Chinese products including hydraulic rock breakers to protect domestic players from cheap imports.

The Department of Revenue notified these duties in three separate notifications.

On hydraulic rock breakers, the duty ranged between 4.55% and 162.5% of CIF (cost, insurance, freight) value in US dollars. The duty was also imposed on these goods coming from Korea.

These breakers are used in the construction and mining industry for demolition, excavation, mining, and boulder-breaking activities.

"The anti-dumping duty imposed (on these breakers)... shall be effective for a period of five years (unless revoked, superseded or amended earlier)," according to one of the notifications.

Similarly, a $741 per lakh price was imposed on imports of 'Easy open ends of tin plate, including electrolytic tin plate, measuring 401 diameter (99MM) and 300 diameter (73MM) in dimension' from China for five years.

These plates are used in the packaging of consumables and other items such as fresh and preserved food and beverages.

The government has also imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty of USD 614 per tonne on imports of 'Telescopic Channel Drawer Slider' imported from China for six months.

Jaishankar wished Xu Feihong a successful tenure as Chinese envoy to India.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday emphasised on the “common interest” in “stabilisation and progress” in India-China relations during a meeting with Chinese ambassador Xu Feihong, amid the lingering border row in eastern Ladakh.

“Received Ambassador of China Xu Feihong this evening. Discussed our bilateral relationship and our common interest in its stabilization and progress. Wished him a successful tenure,” the external affairs minister said on ‘X’.

The external affairs minister has consistently been maintaining that India’s ties with China cannot be normal unless there is peace in the border areas.

Following the meeting with Jaishankar, the Chinese ambassador said he was looking forward to working with the Indian side to push forward the development of China-India relations towards the “right direction”.
