1.The 31st meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) was held on 29th August 2024 in Beijing. Shri Gourangalal Das, Joint Secretary (East Asia) from the Ministry of External Affairs led the Indian delegation. The Chinese delegation was led by Mr. Hong Liang, Director General of the Boundary & Ocean Affairs Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

2. In line with the guidance provided by two Foreign Ministers’ meetings in Astana and Vientiane in July 2024 to accelerate their discussion, and building on the WMCC meeting held last month, the two sides had a frank, constructive and forward-looking exchange of views on the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to narrow down the differences and find early resolution of the outstanding issues. For this, they further agreed for intensified contact through diplomatic and military channels.

3. In the meantime, they decided to jointly uphold peace and tranquillity on the ground in border areas in accordance with relevant bilateral agreements, protocols and understandings reached between the two Governments. It was reiterated that restoration of peace and tranquility, and respect for LAC are the essential basis for restoration of normalcy in bilateral relations.

4. The leader of the Indian delegation also called on the Vice Minister in the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

BENGALURU, Aug 30 (Reuters) - An Indian company tribunal has approved the $8.5 billion merger of Reliance Industries and Disney's

Indian media assets, Reliance said on Friday.

NEW DELHI: Surpassing world's leading digital payments platforms, India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) processed nearly Rs 81 lakh crore transactions in the April-July period this year, which is a staggering 37 per cent increase (year-on-year).

According to latest data by global payments hub Paysecure, UPI processed 3,729.1 transactions per second - a 58 per cent surge over the 2,348 transactions every second registered in 2022- surpassing China's Alipay, Paypal and Brazil's PIX in the number of transactions, the data showed.

ndia's trade ministry has recommended imposing an anti-dumping duty on aluminium foil imported from China after surging shipments from the neighbouring country captured nearly a third of India's market share despite ample local production capacity.

The recommendation, contained in a report published by the ministry late on Friday and submitted to the government for approval, seeks to address a threat to the domestic manufacturing industry, the directorate general of trade remedies said in the report.

It recommended a duty between $619 and $873 per metric ton on foil up to 80 microns thick, excluding aluminium foil below 5.5 microns for non-capacitor application.

The Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has imposed a strict ban on the use of Chinese components in military drones, a move reflecting the government's growing concern over national security vulnerabilities. On June 25, the Ministry's Department of Defence Production (DDP) issued a letter to key industry bodies, including FICCI, Assocham, and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), urging them to warn their members about the risks of using Chinese parts. This directive specifically highlights companies like Dhaksha Unmanned Systems Pvt. Ltd., Sky Industries, and Garuda Aerospace Pvt. Ltd., which have been supplying drones to the Indian Defence Forces.

BENGALURU, Aug 28 (Reuters) - India's Paytm has received an approval from the country's finance ministry to invest in its payment services business, the fintech firm said on Wednesday.

One 97 Communications, popularly known as Paytm, has been under the scrutiny of India's banking regulator and financial crime-fighting agency after the central bank ordered it to wind down its payments bank in January.

NEW DELHI, Aug 28 (Reuters) - India will hold wider consultations with steel companies before imposing curbs on imports of low ash metallurgical coke, used in steelmaking, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

India, the world's second-biggest producer of crude steel, in April proposed, a country-specific import quota to cap annual imports of low ash metallurgical coke, also known as met coke, at 2.85 million metric tons for one year.

The April proposal from the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) aimed to protect the country's local met coke producers from rising imports, which have risen by more than 61% over the last four years.
