Indian visa application centres in Bangladesh will close indefinitely due to the volatile situation in the neighbouring country, India Today reported.
"All Indian visa application centres will remain closed till further notice, due to the unstable situation. The next application date will be informed through SMS and it is requested to pick up the passport on the next working day," the notice said, as per the report.

NEW DELHI: India’s online visa portal has enabled Chinese nationals to apply for e-business visas, facilitating fast-track approvals for those coming in to execute projects under the production-linked incentive scheme.
Sources in the government said China has been added to the drop down menu for online application of e-business visas.
“The existing visa portal has added China to the drop-down menu to enable Chinese and other foreign nationals to apply for e-business visas for PLI projects,” said an officer.
E-business visas, which involve a processing time of just 72 hours, allow multiple entries and have a validity of 365 days, with a continuous stay during each visit not exceeding 180 days.

New Delhi: The Central government may consider preparing a list of sectors and industries where Chinese investments may be allowed, provided these help indigenize manufacturing and do not pose a security risk, two people aware of the matter said.
Once identified, investments may be permitted in these sectors without additional scrutiny under the Press Note-3 of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) regulation applicable to neighbouring countries.
"This is an idea which has been floated. But, there hasn't been any decision taken in this regard," the first person mentioned above said, requesting anonymity.

FMCG company Marico’s manufacturing operations in Bangladesh remain shut even as it claimed that a large majority of its retail sales force and distributors have now resumed operations. Marico which gets 44% of its international business and about 12% of its consolidated revenues from the country runs three factories in Bangladesh’s Gazipur and Chattogram regions.

Aug 8 (Reuters) - Indian consumer products' sales slowed sharply to a more-than-one-year low from April to June due to softening demand for personal care products and packaged wheat flour, especially in urban areas, market researcher NielsenIQ said on Thursday.
The overall sales volume growth slowed to 3.8% in the second quarter, compared with growth rates of 6.4% to 8.6% in the past four quarters, "largely due to macroeconomic headwinds," NielsenIQ said, without detailing the factors.
India's retail inflation hovered around 5% in the quarter, mostly due to high food prices, forcing consumers in the world's most populous country to cut back wherever possible to make ends meet.

NEW DELHI, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Steel prices in India have plunged to the lowest level in more than three years due to higher imports and subdued exports, according to data from commodities consultancy BigMint.
Local prices of hot rolled coils used in the manufacturing sector averaged 52,267 rupees ($622.62) per tonne in July, it said.
India, the world's second-biggest crude steel producer, turned a net importer in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2024. The trend continued with finished steel imports scaling a five-year high in April-May, according to provisional government data.
