New Delhi:Indian embassy in Beijing has issued an advisory asking Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to take certain precautions before doing any business with Chinese companies in China.

In case of large transactions, it is highly recommended that Indian companies consult a Business Service Company which can provide a report on the business transparency, financial health, reputation, reliability and credentials of the Chinese entity, the advisory further states.

NEW DELHI, July 29 (Reuters) - India has declined to accept a European Union proposal to levy higher taxes on its carbon-producing industries, which the 27-nation bloc said it was willing to offset when those products enter its borders, a top official told Reuters.

New Delhi:Designed and manufactured in India, telecom equipment are now being exported to over 100 countries, the Centre has informed.

Last year, the country exported telecom equipment and services worth more than $18.2 billion.

CHOORALMALA, India, July 31 (Reuters) - Nearly 1,000 people have been rescued after landslides in the hills of Wayanad district in India's Kerala state, authorities said on Wednesday, with at least 151 people dead and many still missing.

Heavy rain in one of India's most attractive tourist destinations collapsed hillsides early on Tuesday sending torrents of mud, water and tumbling boulders through tea and cardamom estates and small settlements. It was the worst disaster in the state since deadly floods in 2018.

NEW DELHI, July 31 (Reuters) - India has no plans to reimpose foreign investor limits on new issuances of 5-year, 7-year and 10-year bonds, a government source aware of the development said on Wednesday, after curbs were imposed on bonds with longer tenors.

On Monday, the Reserve Bank of India said that in consultation with the government it had decided that foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) would no longer have access to new Indian government bonds with 14-year and 30-year tenors under the fully accessible route (FAR).

Foreign investors see India's decision to return to curbs on purchases of some government securities as a flip-flop in policy that may force them to revise investment strategies, global fund managers said on Tuesday.

NEW DELHI, July 30 (Reuters) - India is not re-thinking the issue of allowing Chinese investments into the country, Trade Minister Piyush Goyal said on Tuesday.

Earlier in July, India's Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran said in the government's annual economic survey that New Delhi should focus on direct investments from China to boost its exports and help keep India's growing trade deficit with Beijing in check.

"There is no rethinking at present to support Chinese investments in the country," the minister told reporters in New Delhi.

The economic survey recommendations are not binding on the government, Goyal said.

MUMBAI, July 30 (Reuters) - India's gold demand in the June quarter fell 5% from a year ago, but consumption in the second half of 2024 is set to improve due to a correction in local price following a steep reduction in import taxes, the World Gold Council (WGC) said on Tuesday.

Higher purchases in the world's second-biggest gold consumer could support global benchmark prices , which are trading near record highs.

The recent 9 percentage point reduction in import duty on gold, implemented before the main festival season beginning in September, is expected to revive gold demand, further supported by good monsoon rains, said Sachin Jain, CEO of WGC's Indian operations.
